The Vale of Rheidol Railway (Welsh: Rheilffordd Cwm Rheidol) is a 1 ft 11+3⁄4 in (603 mm) narrow gauge heritage railway in Ceredigion, Wales, between Aberystwyth and Devil's Bridge; a journey of 11+3⁄4 miles (18.9 km).It opened in 1902 and, from the withdrawal of main line steam on British Rail in 1968 until privatisation in 1989, it was the sole steam-operated line on the 1948 nationalised British Rail network. It was one of the first parts of British Rail to be privatised. Unlike most other preserved railways in the United Kingdom, the Vale of Rheidol Railway did not have a period of closure between its being part of the national rail system and becoming a heritage railway, and so has operated a continuous service for residents and tourists.

Aberystwyth railway station is located in the town of Aberystwyth, Ceredigion, Wales; it is served by passenger trains operated by Transport for Wales. It is the terminus of both the Cambrian Line (sited 81+1⁄2 miles (131.2 km) west of Shrewsbury) and of the narrow-gauge Vale of Rheidol Railway.

Aberystwyth (/ˌæbəˈrɪstwɪθ/; Welsh: [abɛˈrəstʊɨθ] ) is a university and seaside town and a community in Ceredigion, Wales. It is the largest town in Ceredigion and 16 miles (26 km) from Aberaeron, the county's administrative centre. In 2021, the population of the town was 14,640.Located in the historic county of Cardiganshire, Aberystwyth means "the mouth of the Ystwyth". It has been a major educational location in Wales since the establishment of University College Wales, now Aberystwyth University, in 1872. The town is situated on Cardigan Bay on the west coast of Wales, near the confluence of the River Ystwyth and Afon Rheidol. Following the reconstruction of the harbour, the Ystwyth skirts the town. The Rheidol passes through the town. The seafront, with a pier, stretches from Constitution Hill at the north end of the Promenade to the harbour at the south. The beach is divided by the castle. The town is divided into five areas: Aberystwyth Town; Llanbadarn Fawr; Waunfawr; Trefechan; and the most populous, Penparcau.

Aberystwyth power station supplied electricity to the town of Aberystwyth from 1895 to the 1970s. The oil-engine station was operated by a succession of private and public owners including Aberystwyth Corporation prior to the nationalisation of the electricity industry in 1948. The power station, with an ultimate capacity of 5 MW, was redeveloped as demand for electricity grew and old plant was replaced.

Aberystwyth Rheidol is the name of a local government electoral ward in the town of Aberystwyth, Ceredigion, Wales. It elects a county councillor to Ceredigion County Council and also elects town councillors to Aberystwyth Town Council.

The Edward Davies Memorial Chemistry Laboratories is a Grade-II* listed Aberystwyth University building, in Buarth Mawr, Aberystwyth.The building was completed in 1907 to a design by the architect Alfred Cross of London. It was commissioned by Principal T.F. Roberts as the existing chemistry department had outgrown its former location and was temporarily housed in the Old Assembly Rooms, Laura Place. Funding for the new building was made through a donation from David Davies of Llandinam and by Misses Gwendoline and Margaret Davies of Gregynog in memory of their father Edward Davies, former Treasurer of Aberystwyth University. The land was purchased from W.H. Colby, a member of the University Council.Professor J.J. Sudborough the head of the department played a pivotal role in the design of the laboratories based on his extensive travels across Britain and Germany studying the most modern laboratories. The building design is the Wrenaissance style containing a two-story block with a basement to the northwest end, on the outside it has 15 windows snecked rubble front with freestone dressings. The interior has groin vaulted passages, with five-bay tunnel roofed laboratories and an acoustically designed large lecture theatre. The building is currently home to the Aberystwyth University School of Art.

Aberystwyth Town Hall (Welsh: Neuadd y Dref Aberystwyth) is a municipal structure in Queen's Square, Aberystwyth, Wales. The structure, which was the headquarters of Aberystwyth Borough Council, has operated since 2012 as a public library and a pensioners' day centre.

Vicarage Field is a cricket ground in Aberystwyth, Wales used by Glamorgan for two Sunday League matches in 1977 (against Essex) and 1989 (against Warwickshire). It was the host ground of the Olympic torch relay's 9th day Evening Celebrations featuring world class dance act Twist and Pulse The ground hosted 2 List A matches. The King's Hall was an entertainment venue located in Aberystwyth, Wales. It was built in 1934, designed in an Art Deco style by L.G. Mouchel and Partners, replacing the former Waterloo Hydro Hotel which had burnt down in 1919, The Kings Hall was later demolished in 1989.The building had a basement level, referred to as Palm Court, where in later years it had 'dodgems' and several amusements, a ground floor which contained the dancehall for bands and other performances, with capacity seating of 1,280, a cinema on the first floor, with seating for 280 and a rooftop garden. During its existence it hosted concerts by major music acts such as Led Zeppelin, Slade, Free and The Rolling Stones

Aberystwyth Lifeboat Station is a Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) lifeboat station in the coastal resort of Aberystwyth, Ceredigion, West Wales. It was established in 1861, but there has been a lifeboat serving the town since 1843. Since 2007 the station has operated an Atlantic 85-class inshore lifeboat, RNLB Spirit of Friendship (B-822), launched by submersible tractor. The station also has an Arancia IRB as support for the larger Atlantic 85-class inshore lifeboat.

Laura Place, in the centre of Aberystwyth, Ceredigion, Wales is a terrace of mid-19th century townhouses. Pevsner considers them "the finest Georgian houses of the town". Laura Place forms two sides of a square, fronting the Church of St Michael and All Angels in the shadow of Aberystwyth Castle. It was developed in the early 19th century by William Edward Powell of Nanteos, High Sheriff and Lord Lieutenant of Cardiganshire. Powell's architect is uncertain, but Cadw suggests George Stanley Repton as a possibility. Repton was certainly the architect of the Assembly Rooms, a separate building standing between 1-9 and 11-12. The Assembly Rooms later became the first home of the National Library of Wales. The Place was named after Powell's first wife, Laura Edwyna Phelp, who died in 1822. No.s 1-9 inclusive, and No.s 11 and 12 Laura Place are Grade II* listed buildings. The Assembly Rooms are also Grade II*.

St Michael's Church is a parish church in the town of Aberystwyth, Ceredigion, Wales. St Michael's is the fourth church to stand on the site. The first dated from the 15th century but was in ruins by the mid-18th century. Its replacement only stood for some forty years before itself being replaced in 1829-1833 with a church designed by Edward Haycock Sr. of Shrewsbury. Nothing of the two earlier buildings remains. The Haycock church was itself superseded by the present church, built by Nicholson & Son of Hereford in 1886-1890. A fragment of the Haycock church remains to the west of the current building. St Michael's is an active parish church in the Diocese of St Davids. At the end of the 20th century it claimed the largest Anglican congregation in Wales. It is designated by Cadw as a Grade II listed building.
