Canaan Mountain Wilderness

De Mille Peak is a summit in Washington County, Utah, in the United States with an elevation of 6,539 feet (1,993 m). It is in the Canaan Mountain Wilderness and near the southern boundary of Zion National Park. De Mille Peak was named in honor of Bishop Oliver De Mille, a Mormon pioneer.

It was located at the confluence of the North Fork and East Fork of the Virgin River. It was one of the settlements formed as part of the cotton growing colony in the County. Northrop was destroyed by the Great Flood of 1862 and the settlers moved to settle on some nearby land with more space for growth and above the river floods, in what is now Springdale.

Johnson Meetinghouse was the meetinghouse of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (FLDS) located in Colorado City, Arizona, serving the Short Creek Community which includes Hilldale, Utah.When church prophet Warren Jeffs was arrested in 2006 for sexual assault of children, the town was raided and many church members left the community, with former members reclaiming buildings, including the Meetinghouse.The building is currently used as the Legacy Community Center.

Colorado City is a town in Mohave County, Arizona, United States, and is located in a region known as the Arizona Strip. As of the 2020 census, the population of the town was 2,478, down from 4,821 in 2010. At least three Mormon fundamentalist sects are said to have been based there. A majority of residents and many local officials belong to the most prominent of these sects, the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, whose corporation also owned much of the land within and around the town until state intervention in the 2000s.

The Short Creek Community (now Colorado City, Arizona, and Hildale, Utah), founded in 1913, began as a small ranching town in the Arizona Strip. In the 1930s it was settled by Mormon fundamentalists.
