Ledbury and Gloucester Railway

Gwen and Vera's Fields (grid reference SO696277) is a 0.28-hectare (0.69-acre) nature reserve in Gloucestershire.The site, which consists of two separate fields, is owned and managed by the Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust. It was purchased by the trust in 1987 with funding help from an anonymous donor. The site is listed in the 'Forest of Dean Local Plan Review' as a Key Wildlife Site (KWS).

Oxenhall is a village and civil parish 10 miles (16 km) north west of Gloucester, in the Forest of Dean district, in the county of Gloucestershire, England. In 2011 the parish had a population of 243. The parish touches Dymock, Gorsley and Kilcot, Kempley, Newent and Upton Bishop. Oxenhall has a parish meeting.

Pauntley is a village and civil parish in the district of Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire, England. In 2019 it had a population of 304.

Castle Tump was a castle in the village of Dymock in Gloucestershire, England. The castle was built in either the 11th or more probably the early 12th century as a motte and bailey design. The motte today is 14 m high, with the traces of the bailey to the south-east.During the Anarchy the castle was given to William de Braose, the son-in-law of the powerful Miles de Gloucester. After the conflict the castle is believed to have probably been destroyed by Henry II as part of a wider programme of castle denigration in Gloucestershire during the 1150s.

Dymock Woods (grid reference SO684288, SO692290, SO697283) is a 53-hectare (130-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest in Gloucestershire, notified in 1990. The site is listed in the 'Forest of Dean Local Plan Review' as a Key Wildlife Site (KWS).The site is divided into three units of assessment and includes the Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust nature reserve known as Betty Daw's Wood which is unit 3.

Four Oaks Halt was a request stop on the former Ledbury and Gloucester Railway. It was located 2 miles north of Newent. The station opened on 16 October 1937 and closed in 1959 when passenger services were withdrawn from the line. There was a simple wooden platform and shelter, built on the line of the lifted double track when it was singled.

Newent railway station served the town of Newent in Gloucestershire, England. It opened on 27 July 1885 when the Newent Railway and the Ross and Ledbury Railway (with whom the Newent Railway had an end on connection at Dymock) opened their lines making a connection between Ledbury and Over Junction on the Gloucester and Dean Forest Railway.The station had two platforms on a passing loop, a goods shed to the west and several sidings, one of which was equipped with a 5 ton crane. The goods yard was able to accommodate live stock and a full range of goods.The station was host to a GWR camp coach in 1935, 1938 and 1939.The station closed for passengers on 13 July 1959, but the line remained open for freight traffic until 1964. It was located opposite what is now the Newent fire station. The buttresses of the Station Bridge can be seen intact on nearby Station Road. As of 2011 there was a proposal by the Herefordshire and Gloucestershire Canal Trust to reopen the 34 mile Herefordshire and Gloucestershire Canal upon which the railway was built.

Newent Community School is a secondary school in Newent, Gloucestershire, England. It is an Academy of 1,340 students, serving the town and the rural community. The school provides secondary education for ages 11 to 18. The school offers GCSEs as well as A Levels. In 2001, the school was granted Arts College specialist status. In 2007 the school was also granted Science College as a second specialism. In addition, the school has been awarded Sportsmark Silver, Artsmark Gold and Healthy School. The school became an academy in 2012. The campus consists of 35 acres (140,000 m2) which includes extensive sporting and leisure facilities, including: a floodlit all-weather pitch; sports hall; squash courts; gymnasium; fitness suite and indoor heated swimming pool - all of which are for use by the school and wider community. As a community school, adult education classes, are held both in the school and in the dedicated community rooms. Mark Harper MP was governor between 2000 - 2005.

Gorsley and Kilcot is a civil parish forming part of the district of the Forest of Dean in the English county of Gloucestershire. The single parish of Gorsley and Kilcot came into being in 2000; until then it had been part of Newent civil parish. The parish, which contained 166 households in 2011, borders on the county of Herefordshire and is bisected by the B4221 road. Adjoining parishes are Oxenhall to the north; Newent to the east; Aston Ingham to the south; Linton to the west; and Upton Bishop to the north-west. Of these, Oxenhall and Newent are in the Forest of Dean district, the others are in Herefordshire. The main settlements are Gorsley and the hamlet of Kilcot. The similarly named settlement of Little Gorsley is across the county border in Herefordshire. Kilcot is the home of The Kilcot Inn. The name Kilcot has historically been given as Killicote (1283), Kyllicote, Kylcote (1281), Killecote, Kylcot, and Kulkotte (1307) It has been suggested that the name originates from "Cyllingcocotan" meaning the cots (dwellings) of the people of Cylla.

Aston Ingham is a village in south-eastern Herefordshire, England, near Newent and about 7 miles (11 km) east of Ross-on-Wye. The population of the village at the 2011 census was 398. There is a church, dedicated to St John the Baptist, which has been a Grade II* listed building since 17 March 1987.

Boulsdon is a village in Gloucestershire, England. It is the location of the International Centre for Birds of Prey.A low mound in the village may have been the site of a motte and is known as Boulsdon Manor.

Dymock railway station was a stop on the former Ledbury and Gloucester Railway. It opened in 1885 and served the Gloucestershire village of Dymock. It was closed for passengers in 1959 but remained open for freight traffic until 1964 when the line was closed.
