Holsteinische Schweiz station

The Kellersee () is a lake in the Holstein Switzerland region of North Germany. It lies east of the village of Malente on the River Schwentine, has an area of 560 hectares (1,400 acres), is up to 27 metres deep and lies at a height of 24 m above sea level (NN). Southeast of the lake is the village of Fissau in the borough of Eutin.

Großer Benzer See is a lake in Malente, Holsteinische Schweiz, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. At an elevation of , its surface area is 0.13 km².

Holstein Switzerland (German: Holsteinische Schweiz) is a hilly area with a patchwork of lakes and forest in Schleswig Holstein, Germany, reminiscent of Swiss landscape. Its highest point is the Bungsberg (168 metres above sea level). It is a designated nature park as well as an important tourist destination in Northern Germany situated between the cities of Kiel and Lübeck.

Malente is a municipality in the district of Ostholstein, in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. It is about 5 km northwest of Eutin and 35 km north of Lübeck. The cities belonging to this municipality are Timmdorf, Kreuzfeld, Neukirchen, Sieversdorf, Krummsee, Malkwitz, Nüchel, Benz, Rachut, Neversfelde and Söhren with RachutRachut and Neversfelde being part of Malente itself.

Ukleisee is a lake in Kreis Ostholstein, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. At an elevation of 26.5 m, its surface area is 0.32 km². This lake is (as numerous other lakes in this area) a kettle hole, remaining from Weichselian glaciation.

Eutin (German pronunciation: [ɔɪ̯ˈtiːn] ) is the district capital of Eastern Holstein county located in the northern German state of Schleswig-Holstein. As of December 2022, the town had some 17,000 inhabitants.

Eutin Castle (German: Eutiner Schloss) in Eutin in the north German district of Ostholstein is the cultural centre and nucleus of the town. Taken together, this castle, Gottorf Castle and Glücksburg Castle, form the most important group of courtly secular buildings in the state of Schleswig-Holstein.

Utin (in Latin letters VTIN - also "Uthine") was the name of a Wendish castle that was built in the 9th century on Pheasant Island in the lake known as the Großer Eutiner See in what is now the German state of Schleswig-Holstein. It was the centre of the eponymous Wendish Gau. The castle was linked to the shore via a bridge next to which a settlement, also called Utin, grew up. The castle was destroyed by the Holcetae tribe when they conquered Wagria in 1138/39. The site of the settlement - which was the origin of the present-day town of Eutin - on the shore of the Großer Eutiner See, survived and retained the name "Utin" (also e.g. "Uthine") which over the course of time became "Eutin". The four letters "VTIN" became part of the coat of arms of the town of Eutin.

Pheasant Island (German: Fasaneninsel) is one of the two islands in the south of the lake of Großer Eutiner See, which itself lies in the borough of Eutin in the district of Ostholstein in the German state of Schleswig-Holstein. The island is about 150 m × 200 m (490 ft × 660 ft) across. From the 9th century, Pheasant Island was the site of a Wendish castle which was given the name Utin and was the centre of the eponymous Gau. The castle was linked to the shore over a bridge. The castle was destroyed in 1138/39 by the Holsteiners during the conquest of Wagria. The subsequent settlement was built on the shore and developed into the present-day town of Eutin. Pheasant Island is one of the landmarks of the visual axes of the former Baroque garden of Eutin Castle. The name "Pheasant Island" is derived from the old pheasantry that used to exist on the island. Today, the island is privately owned and inhabited.

The Bridegroom's Oak (German: Bräutigamseiche) is an oak tree in the Dodauer Forst, a forest near Eutin in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. It is a registered natural monument, and a hole high in the trunk, reached by a ladder, functions as a dead drop or public letter box for people seeking love partners, and has a postal address.

The Großer Eutiner See is a lake in Holstein Switzerland, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. It lies northeast of the town of Eutin. It has an area of 230 hectares (570 acres), is up to 17 metres deep and lies at a height of about 26.7 m above sea level (NN). It northern side borders directly on the woods of the Seeschaarwald. In the western part of the lake, separated by the Bebensund Bridge, the Fissauer Bucht, its main inflow, the River Schwentine enters, and then leaves again a little further west. For boating enthusiasts the Schwentine is only navigable upstream as far as the Großer Eutiner See. There are two islands in the Großer Eutiner See: Pheasant Island (Fasaneninsel) on which the origins of the settlement in that area are located, and which used to be a visual axis point for the former Baroque garden at Eutin Castle and which has been re-occupied today and is in private hands, and the so-called Liebesinsel ("Love Island"). Musicals take place during the summer in the castle garden on the shore of the Großer Eutiner See.
