Jenny's Lantern is an area of moorland in north Northumberland, England, taking its name from an 18th-century 'eye-catcher' folly sited towards the top of a small promontory hill above the River Aln. Situated on the southern slope of the Jenny's Lantern area is an Iron Age hillfort, overbuilt by and adjoined to a larger and very well preserved Romano-British stone-built settlement and field system. It partially collapsed during a storm in November 2021.

Abberwick is a hamlet and former civil parish near the River Aln, now in the parish of Edlingham, in the English county of Northumberland. In 1951 the parish had a population of 44.

Lemmington Hall is an 18th-century country mansion incorporating a 15th-century tower house, situated near Edlingham, Northumberland, England. It is a Grade II* listed building. The original tower house built for the Beadnall family in the early 15th century was a four-storey construction which was reduced in height in the 17th century when Nicholas Fenwick (Mayor of Newcastle 1720) converted the building into a country house. Substantial alterations and improvements were made by architect William Newton in the late 18th century. In 1825, the property was acquired by William Pawson of Shawdon Hall, who served as the High Sheriff of Northumberland in 1826. However, the property fell into disrepair and had become a roofless ruin by the end of the 19th century. In the 20th century, Lemmington Hall was completely restored by Sir Stephen Aitchison (see Aitchison baronets), who acquired the ruinous property in 1913. In 1927 Aitchison bought an 80-foot-high (24 m) column, designed by Sir John Soane and dedicated to the memory of members of the Evelyn family of Felbridge, Surrey, which he dismantled and re-erected in the grounds at Lemmington. In 1947 the building was converted for use as a convent for the Sisters of the Sacred Heart, then later became a residential care home. More recently, the hall was renovated, under the ownership of the Ruff family. The Ruff family also own a selection of animals on the Lemmington Hall estate including peacocks and peahens.

Hunterheugh Crags are part of the Fellsandstone escarpment, 5 miles (8 km) north west of Alnwick, Northumberland, England and 9 miles (14 km) from the coast. The site is moorland forming part of the Bewick and Beanley Moors SSSI, although before the Bronze Age it is likely to have been thickly forested with broadleaf deciduous trees. This site is most famous for the cup and ring mark art present on the outcrop.

Eglingham is a village in Northumberland, England, situated about 7 miles (11 km) north-west of Alnwick and 10 miles (16 km) from Wooler. It lies in the sheltered valley of the Eglingham Burn, a tributary of the River Aln, about 100 metres (330 ft) above sea level, in a rural conservation area set amongst rolling countryside, within 5 miles (8 km) of the Cheviot Hills. The village is surrounded by mainly arable farmland, moorland and woodland, including an arboretum and some commercial forestry. The village has about 60 dwellings and a population of about 100, most situated either side of the through-road, and including the local manorial property, Eglingham Hall. Eglingham is also a parish, about nine miles (14 km) in length by four and a half in breadth, with an area of 23,361 acres (94.54 km2). It comprises 2 villages: South Charlton and Eglingham; and 4 settlements – Bassington, Ditchburn, Harehope, Shipley – and several smaller places. The River Breamish, which rises in the Cheviots, runs through the parish. The geological composition of the parish includes rich gravelly loam along the path of the river; clay predominating in the centre of the parish, and unenclosed moorland in the south and east. Within the moor area is Kimmer Loch, covering 10 acres (4.0 ha), and reputed to abound in perch and pike. The parish is largely agricultural, although gravel extraction continues to the west. Villages in the parish also serve as bases for commuters working in Alnwick and Newcastle upon Tyne.

Eglingham Hall (grid reference NU10421954) is a former mansion house and a Grade II* listed building situated at Eglingham, near Alnwick, Northumberland. The manor of Eglingham was acquired by Henry Ogle, a nephew of Robert, 1st Baron Ogle of Ogle in 1514. Luke Ogle (1510–1597) built a new mansion house on the site of a pele tower. The Ogle family of Eglingham were parliamentarian during the English Civil War. Henry Ogle (1600–1669), Deputy Lieutenant of Northumberland in 1644, was the representative for the county in the parliaments of 1653 and 1654. His son John (1621–1686) was Commissioner for the Commonwealth in 1650 and High Sheriff of Northumberland in 1654. It is said that Oliver Cromwell was a guest at Eglingham in 1650. The Hall was rebuilt in grander style for Robert Ogle in 1728, to a design including a seven-bay façade possibly by architect William Wakefield. Nikolaus Pevsner noted that the rusticated quoins and doorway of Eglingham Hall showed the influence of Seaton Delaval Hall, and suggested that William Etty who had worked there might also have worked at Eglingham. Later improvements and alterations took place in 1780 and 1890 and an east wing was added in 1903 by Temple Wilson. The Ogles remained in possession for some 400 years. The Hall was sold to the Bewicke family early in the 20th century and their descendants remain resident.

Remote Radar Head Brizlee Wood (or RRH Brizlee Wood), is an air defence radar station operated by the Royal Air Force located at Brizlee Wood, near Alnwick in Northumberland, England. Originally opened as an Ace High site in the early 1960s, it now forms part of the Air Surveillance and Control System (ASACS) of the Royal Air Force.

Bassington is a former civil parish, now in the parish of Eglingham, in the county of Northumberland, England. It is located about 3 miles (5 km) northwest of Alnwick. Bassington is traversed by the River Aln. In 1951 the parish had a population of 2.

Brizlee Tower (sometimes Brislee Tower) is a Grade 1 listed folly set atop a hill in Hulne Park, the walled home park of the Duke of Northumberland in Alnwick, Northumberland. The tower was erected in 1781 for Hugh Percy, 1st Duke of Northumberland, and commands extensive views over North Northumberland and the Borders.

Hulne Park is the only one remaining of the three parks that once surrounded Alnwick Castle in Northumberland, providing wood and meat for the Percy family, the Dukes of Northumberland. The park is walled, and was landscaped by Capability Brown. It is the site of Hulne Priory, Brizlee Tower and Alnwick Abbey, although access to the latter is no longer available to the general public. A cave called the Nine Year Aud Hole is found within the park; its entrance is guarded by a Grade-II-listed, probably 18th-century, statue of a White Friar.The park is open to walkers only, without dogs, between 11 a.m. and sunset most days of the year; it may occasionally be closed to the public for private events to take place.

Hulne Priory, Hulne Friary or Hulne Abbey was a friary founded in 1240 by the Carmelites or 'Whitefriars'. It is said that the Northumberland site, quite close to Alnwick, was chosen for some slight resemblance to Mount Carmel where the order originated. Substantial ruins survive, watched over by the stone figures of friars carved in the 18th century. It is a sign of the unrest felt in this area so near to the border with Scotland that the priory had a surrounding wall and in the 15th century a pele tower was erected. Changes were made at the Dissolution of the Monasteries when the Percy family took control. The priory is situated in Hulne Park, a walled park covering several thousand acres which belongs to the Duke of Northumberland and is close to Alnwick Castle. Originally a hunting park, and still used by the Duke for shooting, it now contains woods, moors, stretches of open grassland and Alnwick's home farm. Apart from the priory, the buildings in the park include the gatehouse of the former Alnwick Abbey, and Brizlee Tower, which is a viewing tower in Gothic Revival style that dates from the 1780s. The public is admitted to Hulne Park, but it is not marketed as a visitor attraction and has no visitor facilities. Entry is via the approach from Alnwick, and is restricted to pedestrians only. The ruins of the priory may be viewed whilst Brizlee Tower is rarely open to the public.Hulne Priory was a filming location in HTV's Robin of Sherwood with Michael Praed where it doubled for Kirklees Abbey. Later it was Maid Marian's home in the 1991 film Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. The priory is licensed for wedding ceremonies and is occasionally used as a location for live performances.

South Charlton is a small village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Eglingham, in the county of Northumberland, England, five miles (8 km) north-west of Alnwick. In 1951 the parish had a population of 82.The parish church of St. James, South Charlton was built in 1862 by James Deason of London for the 4th Duke of Northumberland, in an Early English style. It is a Grade II listed building. Two miles (3.2 km) south-east of the village, on the slopes of Heifer Law, is Heiferlaw Tower, a ruined fifteenth-century pele tower built by the monks of Alnwick Abbey.
