Songo River

Sebago Lake State Park is a public recreation area encompassing 1,342 acres (543 ha) on the north shore of Sebago Lake in the towns of Naples and Casco, Cumberland County, Maine. It opened in 1938 as one of Maine's original five state parks. The mostly forested park is divided into east and west sections by the Songo River. It is managed by the Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry.

The Crooked River is a 58.0-mile-long (93.3 km) tributary of the Songo River in Maine. It is the longest of the tributaries of Sebago Lake, the outlet of which is the Presumpscot River, flowing to Casco Bay on the Atlantic Ocean. The Crooked River rises at the outlet of Songo Pond in the unorganized territory of South Oxford in Oxford County, near the eastern end of the White Mountain National Forest. It flows southeast through the towns of Waterford, Norway, Otisfield, Harrison in Cumberland County, Naples, and Casco, reaching the Songo River 1.0 mile (1.6 km) south of that river's source at the outlet of Brandy Pond and 2.1 miles (3.4 km) upstream from the mouth of the Songo in Sebago Lake.

Songo Lock is the last surviving lock of the Cumberland and Oxford Canal, a 19th-century canal in southern Maine, United States. The lock is located on the Songo River, just above its confluence with the Crooked River at the northern end of Sebago Lake State Park in the town of Naples. The lock, built in 1830, is now used primarily during the summer months by pleasure craft. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1970 and designated as a Maine Historic Civil Engineering Landmark by the American Society of Civil Engineers in 2001.

Point Sebago Resort is located in the Town of Casco, on the north shore of Sebago Lake, southern Maine's largest lake. Point Sebago opened in 1970 as a campground suitable for tents and trailers. Today the 775-acre (3 km2) resort has over 250 park homes on and around Sebago Lake, resort cottages and vacation homes on and around the 18-hole championship golf course. The Resort offers free supervised children's activities program, as well as family and adult activities to resort guests, and an off Broadway caliber entertainment program. Sebago Lake State Park lies just to its west. The resort was started in 1970 by Larry Gould, who lived on the shore of the lake from 2008 until his death from a long-standing illness on February 13, 2015. The resort is now owned by Cove Communities.

Trickey Pond is a water body in the U.S. state of Maine. Its maximum depth is 55 feet (17 m). The lack of serious pollution in the area contributes to the pond's remarkably good water clarity. At most points in the pond, the entire depth can be seen.

Brandy Pond, also known as Bay of Naples Lake, is a small lake in Naples, Maine, United States, that is connected to Long Lake by the Chute River. Brandy Pond is connected to Sebago Lake by the Songo River, which runs through Sebago Lake State Park. To get to Sebago Lake through the Songo River, one must pass through Songo Lock, one of the last remaining hand-operated locks in the country. Brandy Pond is bounded by a commercial (downtown) area called the "causeway" on Rt. 302, an area of homes on the southerly side called Scenic Drive, a golf course on the northern side, as well as many private homes and public campgrounds and condominiums.

South Casco is an unincorporated village in the town of Casco, Cumberland County, Maine, United States. The community is located along U.S. Route 302 and Maine State Route 35 near the town's border with Raymond and the north shore of Sebago Lake. South Casco has a post office with ZIP code 04077.

Thomas Pond is adjacent to U.S. Route 302 on the border of Raymond and Casco, Maine. The shoreline is heavily developed with residences and seasonal cabins, and there is a boat launching area near the highway where the pond overflows into Sebago Lake. White perch, chain pickerel, smallmouth bass, and largemouth bass thrive in the shallow portions of the pond; and land-locked Atlantic salmon use the deeper parts of the pond preying on rainbow smelt.

The Richard Manning House is a historic house on Raymond Cape Road in South Casco, Maine. This well-preserved c. 1795 wood-frame house is an excellent example of Federal architecture. Hawthorne and his mother lived here while Hawthorne's boyhood home was being built by his uncle after his father's death at sea. It is further notable as one of the places where the writer Nathaniel Hawthorne spent some of his childhood years. Richard Manning, a native of Salem, Massachusetts, was Hawthorne's uncle, and the house is located not far from Hawthorne's boyhood home. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1993.

The Muddy River is a 5.3-mile-long (8.5 km) tributary of Sebago Lake in the U.S. state of Maine.

The Nathaniel Hawthorne Boyhood Home is a historic house at Raymond Cape Road and Hawthorne Road in Raymond, Maine. Built about 1812, the house was the childhood home of author Nathaniel Hawthorne. Its interior, now much altered, serves as a function space for a community organization dedicated to its preservation. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1969.

Sebago Lake (Sih-Bay-Goh) is the deepest and second-largest lake in the U.S. state of Maine. The lake is 316 feet (96 m) deep at its deepest point, with a mean depth of 101 feet (31 m). It is possible that Sebago is the deepest lake wholly contained within the entire New England region, although some sources say that Vermont's Lake Willoughby is slightly deeper. Along with Lake Champlain, Sebago is one of the only lakes in the area that does not consistently freeze solid during the winter months, with total ice cover only occurring for a short period of time every few winters. Sebago covers about 45 square miles (117 km2) in surface area, has a length of 14 miles (23 km) and has a shoreline length of roughly 105 miles (169 km). The surface is around 270 feet (82 m) above sea level, so the deep bottom is below the present sea level. It is in Cumberland County, and bordered by the towns of Casco, Naples, Raymond, Sebago, Standish and Windham. The seasonally occupied town of Frye Island is on an island in the lake. Sebago Lake and the surrounding area is known for its erratic and sudden changes in weather during all seasons, likely due to its proximity to the Atlantic Ocean and to Mt. Washington, a very notorious extreme weather hotspot. The name comes from the Abenaki sobagoo, meaning "it is the sea" or "it resembles the sea".
