Broughton and Bretton is a community in Flintshire, Wales. It contains the villages of Broughton and Bretton, and had a population of 5,974 as of the 2011 UK census.The community (along with Shotton) was created in 1985 from part of the pre-existing Hawarden community. The councils have a joint arrangement, so that most of their staff carry out work for all three councils. Broughton and Bretton is divided into two wards. North East elects 5 community councillors, and South elects 9.The community covers the same area as two Flintshire County Council electoral wards. Broughton North East elects 1 county councillor, and Broughton South elects 2.Between 1849 and 1964 the area was served by Broughton & Bretton railway station.

This was completed in 1939 for use by Vickers-Armstrongs, who built 5,786 Wellington bombers. De Havilland Aircraft took over the factory in 1948 and built 2,816 planes of several designs. Today, the plant is an Airbus factory that manufactures wings for the A320, A330 and A350 aircraft. Airbus wings produced there are flown out in Airbus Beluga and BelugaXL planes (while still in construction, larger A380 wings were transported by barge along the River Dee to the nearby Mostyn docks). The Broughton factory was featured in the 2011 BBC Television programme How to Build a Super Jumbo Wing.Broughton is home to Cymru Premier football team Airbus UK Broughton, who joined the highest division of the Welsh football pyramid in 2004 and remained there for 13 years, before relegation at the end of the 2016/17 season. They subsequently won promotion back to the Welsh Premier League for the 2019/20 season. The club was formed in 1946 as Vickers-Armstrongs, and several name changes took place until it adopted the current name. The club were relegated to the Cymru North after the 2019/20 season, but promoted back into the Cymru Premier for the 2022/23 season. Broughton has a primary school with over 500 pupils and pre-school nursery, which was created when the infant and junior schools amalgamated. The school's most recent ESTYN report rated it "Excellent" in all areas. Its students wear a distinctive purple uniform. The school incorporates the local Aura Leisure and Librarys,Library and a playgroup and toddler group are was based there until closure. The village shopping park is known as Broughton Shopping Park, where branches of major stores such as Tesco can be found, in addition to Cineworld IMAX and various restaurants like Nandos, Pizza Express and Frankie and Benny's. The village centre has a small collection of shops, and the Offas Dyke Hotel on Broughton Hall Road. The ITV1 drama series Midsomer Murders has used Broughton as a filming location. Broughton Hall was a large manor house situated on the housing estate where Forest Drive is now. Between 1849 and 1964, Broughton was served by Broughton & Bretton railway station. The Broughton War Memorial Institute is situated on Main Road, opposite the junction with Broughton Hall Road. The institute was built in lieu of a memorial stone to commemorate the sacrifice by residents of the village in military conflicts between 1914 and 1919, and hosts groups and events for the benefit of local people all year round. Broughton is twinned with Auzeville-Tolosane (population 3,035), a commune in the suburbs of Toulouse, France.

Bretton Bridge is a bridge in Flintshire, Wales. Situated between the villages of Broughton and Bretton, Bretton Bridge used to be a back-road link, often used to avoid the congestion on the A5104 (Saltney Straight). The bridge still exists today, although its use has changed from a road to a public footpath, linking the lower part of Broughton village with Broughton Park. The bridge itself used to act as a railway bridge when the line between Broughton and Kinnerton existed. The path of the old line can clearly be seen through the country park in Broughton, where a swerve now exists following the old line of the railway. Residents in neighbouring properties (The Boulevard) found remains of railway sleepers in back gardens in the late 1980s.

Broughton & Bretton railway station was a station in Bretton, Flintshire, Wales near Broughton, Flintshire. The station was opened on 14 August 1849 and completely closed on 4 May 1964. The station building is now in use as veterinary practice and the east bound platform waiting shelter is still extant.

Hawarden Airport (Welsh: Maes Awyr Penarlâg) (IATA: CEG, ICAO: EGNR), is an airport near Hawarden in Flintshire, Wales, near the border with England and 3.5 NM (6.5 km; 4.0 mi) west southwest of the English city of Chester. Aviation Park Group (APG) is based at the airport and provides handling and related services to private clients. APG has a longterm tenancy agreement with Airbus UK, giving sole handling rights at the site.A large Airbus factory, which produces aircraft wings, is located at the airport. The factory is known as the Broughton factory, named after the nearest village.

Broughton Shopping Park (Welsh: Parc Siopa Brychdyn), also known as Broughton Centre (Welsh: Canolfan Brychdyn), is a retail park in Broughton, Flintshire, Wales. It is the busiest retail park in North Wales, recording an average annual footfall of 10 million. Branches of many popular high street stores have an outlet in the park. Retail outlets include Asda Living, Primark and SportsDirect. The retail park hosts facilities which include: free car parking for over 2,000 cars, ATMs, toilets, and baby changing areas. It is located opposite the Airbus factory on Chester Road (A5104), 4 miles west of Chester city centre, and 400 metres from the England-Wales border.In addition to shopping venues, the retail park is host to numerous outlets for food and drink with the Mill House Pub also on the site. A Cineworld multi-screen IMAX cinema opened in 2015, alongside restaurants including Frankie and Benny's, Nandos, and Prezzo.Every year, a jobs fair is held at the shopping park, with the most recent hosted in October 2021.

Lower Kinnerton is a village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Dodleston, in the unitary authority of Cheshire West and Chester and the ceremonial county of Cheshire, England, close to the England–Wales border. The neighbouring village of Higher Kinnerton is across the border in Flintshire. Lower Kinnerton is south of Broughton and to the north west of the village of Dodleston. It is a small agricultural community, which is also home to a local kennel and cattery business. The population was recorded at 97 in 1801, 94 in 1851, 127 in 1901 and 142 in 1951. In the 2001 census it had a population of 119, increasing to 136 at the 2011 census.Lower Kinnerton Hall (also known as Bridge Farm Farmhouse) was built in 1685, using brown brick with stone dressings and with a slated roof. Attached to the building is a shippon (cattle-shed) dating from the 18th century. Lower Kinnerton Hall is a designated Grade II listed building.

Broughton railway station (Welsh: Brychdyn; also proposed as Broughton Parkway; Welsh: Parcffordd Brychdyn) is a proposed railway station on the North Wales Coast line, situated north of Broughton, Flintshire, Wales. Recent proposals for the station use a site north of Airbus UK's West factory site and Hawarden Airport, where the B5129 crosses the North Wales Coast line. Older proposals for the station include using the old sites of the former Sandycroft and Saltney Ferry railway stations. Broughton forms part of Transport for Wales' 2029 goals for the North Wales Metro.

Lower Kinnerton Hall, also known as Bridge Farmhouse, stands adjacent to the England-Wales border to the west of the village of Lower Kinnerton, Cheshire, England. The house is dated 1685, and carries the initials TTET. Attached to it is a shippon (cattle-shed) dating from the 18th century. A wing was added to the rear in the 19th century. The house is constructed in brown brick with stone dressings, and has a slated roof. It is in two storeys and its entrance front has five bays. There are three large Dutch gables on the entrance front, and another on the north face, each with reverse-curved scrolls supporting pediments. The windows are casements. At the rear of the house is a semi-hexagonal bay window and a timber-framed porch. The shippon is also in two storeys, and constructed in brick with slate roofs. Also at the rear of the house is a cobbled courtyard. The architectural historian Nikolaus Pevsner describes the building as "quite an impressive house". The house and attached shippon are recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II listed building.

Kinnerton railway station was a station in Higher Kinnerton, Flintshire, Wales. The station was opened on 2 February 1891 and closed on 30 April 1962.

Broughton Hall was a large country house that was located in Broughton, Flintshire, Wales. It was demolished in the early 1970s and houses now exist on the site. The only indication of its existence is the main road through the village; Broughton Hall Road. Richard Slaughter was resident from 1754, it was during this time that the front of the old mansion house was rebuilt in the Gothic styleIn 1830 the Broughton Hall estate was purchased by the Glynne family and was leased to various members of the gentry. William Johnson, corn merchant, magistrate, alderman and mayor of Chester and his family lived thereduring the latter years of the nineteenth century. During his time living at Broughton Hall, William Johnson made significant donations to the local church that included; the addition of a chancel and two stained glass windows in 1876-7. Stone portraits of William Johnson and his wife exist, on the outside of the church, as carvings either side of one of the stained glass windowsIn 1883 the mining engineer, Horace Mayhew and family came to live in the area, eventually residing at Broughton Hall by the time of the 1901 census.An advertisement, for leasing the property, in 1895 describes the property as having five reception rooms, a billiard room, fourteen bedrooms, kitchen, cellars, stabling and gardens
