Altenhagen (Celle)

The Lachte is a 38-kilometre-long (24 mi) right-hand tributary of the Aller in the Südheide Nature Park in the north German state of Lower Saxony.

Garßen is a Lower Saxon village in the southern part of the Lüneburg Heath and, since 1973, part of the borough of Celle in Germany. It lies on the northeastern side of the town.

Celle (German pronunciation: [ˈtsɛlə]) is a town and capital of the district of Celle in Lower Saxony, Germany. The town is situated on the banks of the river Aller, a tributary of the Weser, and has a population of about 71,000. Celle is the southern gateway to the Lüneburg Heath, has a castle (Schloss Celle) built in the Renaissance and Baroque styles and a picturesque old town centre (the Altstadt) with more than 400 timber-framed houses, making Celle one of the most remarkable members of the German Timber-Frame Road. From 1378 to 1705 Celle was the official residence of the Lüneburg branch of the dukes of Brunswick-Lüneburg (House of Welf), who had been banished from their original ducal seat by its townsfolk.

The French Garden (German: Französischer Garten) in Celle, in the German state of Lower Saxony, is a public park in the south of the historic old town or Altstadt. On both sides of a straight avenue of lime trees forming its east–west axis are flowerbeds, lawns, copses and a pond with a fountain. Its current appearance is no longer that of a true French Garden, but rather that of an English Garden. Laid out towards the end of the 17th century as a Baroque courtyard and leisure garden by French gardeners, Perronet and Dahuron, the gardens were given their present shape in the mid-19th century based on plans by the inspector of gardens, Schaumburg. The French Garden in Celle is a protected historic garden.

Altencelle is part of the borough of Celle in Lower Saxony and lies southeast of the town centre, west of the River Aller and east of the Fuhse. It is linked to Celle by the B 214 federal road and state highway K 74.

St. Ludwig ("St Louis") is the main Catholic church in the town of Celle in the German state of Lower Saxony. It was consecrated in 1838 and was the third catholic parish church of the new diocese of Hildesheim which was authorised by papal bull and was outside of the former bishopric of Hildesheim and Archbishopric of Mainz. It followed in the footsteps of the first two churches: St Clemens in Hanover and St Michael in Göttingen. Its jurisdiction extends as far as the North Sea coast. Louis the Holy, King of France, known as St Louis (German: Ludwig), was chosen as the patron saint – in deference to King Ludwig I of Bavaria, who had supported its construction with money and a collection in Bavaria. The Church of St Ludwig (Ludwigskirche) stands on the western edge of the town centre, outside the historic Altstadt. The central axis of the French Garden runs directly to the imposing frontage of the church.

Moeck Musikinstrumente + Verlag is a leading German manufacturer of recorders and a music publisher. The company was founded in 1925 by Hermann Moeck (1896-1982) in Celle. In 1960 his son Hermann Alexander Moeck (1922-2010) took over the business. The current owner is Sabine Haase-Moeck. The company produces recorders for beginners and handmade instruments for soloists. They began as a publisher in 1929/30 as part of the youth movement in Germany, later adding recorders manufactured by Markneukirchen, and began manufacturing their own instruments in 1949. Beginning in 1966, during the revival of early music, they worked with Friedrich von Huene to develop their Rottenburgh model line. Moeck formerly manufactured historical instruments such as crumhorn, rauschpfeifes, shawms, cornetts, and dulcians designed by Otto Steinkopf, but the Renaissance and Baroque Woodwind Instruments division was closed in December 2008.The publishing division specialized in recorder music, and publishes Tibia, a woodwind periodical. For the past 40 years, Moeck has had a commercial relationship with The Early Music Shop, the largest music store worldwide specialising in renaissance instruments, which serves as one of its official exclusive UK distributors and agents. Moeck is now one of the most recognised recorder makes in the world.

Celle Castle (German: Schloss Celle) or, less commonly, Celle Palace, in the German town of Celle in Lower Saxony, was one of the residences of the House of Brunswick-Lüneburg. This quadrangular building is the largest castle in the southern Lüneburg Heath region.

The Castle Theatre in Celle (German: Schlosstheater Celle) is the court theatre which was established between 1670 and 1674/75 on the initiative of the opera lover, George William (1624-1705), Prince of Lüneburg from the House of Brunswick and Lüneburg, as part of the refurbishment and baroque restyling of Celle Castle. This baroque theatre, which fell into disuse and neglect for a while, was comprehensively renovated in 1935 with a horseshoe-shaped auditorium in the Italian style and is one of the oldest theatre buildings in Europe.The stalls and two circles of the auditorium, the second gallery being an 18th-century addition, has a total of 330 seats. Attached to the Castle Theatre is a smaller stage (Studiobühne) known as the Malersaal ("paint shop") with 40 seats.

Celle State Stud is a state-owned facility for horse breeding in Celle, Germany. The State Stud of Celle, located in what is now known as Lower Saxony, was founded in 1735 by order of George II, King of Great Britain, Elector of Hanover and Duke of Brunswick-Lüneburg. Its purpose was to make high-quality stallions available to local breeders. Several wars affected not only the safety of the horses, but the types of stallions housed there. Celle's history is intertwined with the history of the Hanoverian horse breed, but the breed registry is privately owned and is an entity independent of the stud. Today the state stud is known for its annual stallion parades.

Westercelle is a suburb of the district town of Celle in Lower Saxony, Germany, that lies 3 kilometres (1.9 miles) south of the town centre on the river Fuhse.

Neuenhäusen is a suburb of the town of Celle in Lower Saxony, Germany, and lies south of the Altstadt (old town) in its centre. A particular feature of this suburb is that it is where most of the many authorities and public institutions, that have their headquarters in Celle, are located.
