KHCM (AM)

KWAI (1080 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station in Honolulu, Hawaii, owned by Radio Hawaii, Incorporated. The station offers a talk radio format, including nationally syndicated shows from Thom Hartmann, Roy Masters, Gordon Deal and others, as well as local shows, including paid brokered programming. The station first signed on the air on January 21, 1972. KWAI broadcasts with power of 5000 watts with its transmitter off Kalani Street in Honolulu. KWAI bills itself on air as "The Mighty 1080." It airs national news from the USA Radio Network at the beginning of most hours.

KZOO or Kay-Zoo (1210 AM) is a radio station catering to the Japanese community of Honolulu, Hawaii. The station plays news, talk shows, and J-Pop. It is owned by Polynesian Broadcasting, Inc. KZOO also retransmits on Oceanic Spectrum digital channel 888 for the entire state of Hawaii. KZOO has been broadcasting continuously in Japanese since the station signed on October 18, 1963. It was not the first Japanese-language station in Honolulu (competitor KOHO/1170 signed on in 1959), but it is the only one still on the air today.

KHNR (690 AM) is a conservative talk radio station serving Honolulu, Hawaii. The Salem Media Group outlet broadcasts with a power level of 10,000 watts. Its studios are in Honolulu's Kalihi district, and its transmitter is in the Kakaako neighborhood.

KGU (760 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station in Honolulu, Hawaii, known as "Hawaii Sports Radio Network". It is owned by the Salem Media Group and broadcasts a sports radio format, carrying syndicated programming from the SportsMap Radio Network and VSiN Radio. The radio studios and offices are in Honolulu's Kalihi district, and its transmitter is in the Kakaako neighborhood. AM 760 is a United States clear-channel frequency, on which WJR in Detroit, Michigan is the dominant Class A station. There are only 18 stations on 760 AM within the United States. KGU is far enough away from Detroit that it broadcasts day and night with 10,000 watts, using a non-directional antenna. Programming is also heard on 250 watt FM translator K236CR at 95.1 MHz.

Kakaʻako Waterfront Park, also known as "Point Panic Park", is a public park in Kakaʻako, south of downtown Honolulu, just off Ala Moana Boulevard at the end of Cooke Street. It was opened in November 1992 on the site of a former municipal landfill and consists of 35 acres (140,000 m2) of grass-covered rolling hills adjacent to the ocean. There is no sandy beach at this location, and access to the ocean is by concrete stairs. The park has bathrooms, water fountains, free parking, picnic tables, an amphitheatre, pay telephones, paved jogging paths, and two popular surfing spots, "Point Panic" and "Flies". In October 2017, the park was closed in order to address homeless people setting up encampments there then reopened in January 2018.Management of Kakaʻako Waterfront Park was done by the Hawaiʻi Community Development Corporation for nearly 20 years. In late 2019, the 40 acres of land that makes up the Kakaʻako Waterfront Park was transferred from the state of Hawaii to the city of Honolulu.The John A. Burns School of Medicine, part of the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa, is located inland and adjacent to the waterfront park. A Memorial to the Ehime Maru Incident victims is built at the Kakaako Waterfront Park.

The John A. Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM) is part of the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa, and is located on the island of O‘ahu, approximately three miles west of the university's Mānoa campus. The school was named after former Hawaiian Governor John A. Burns in 1965.

The U.S. Immigration Office in Honolulu, Hawaii was constructed in 1934 based on a design by C.W. Dickey and Herbert C. Cayton. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.Dickey was raised on Maui and became the acknowledged master of what became known as the "territorial style" of Hawaiian architecture. He had earlier designed the Alexander & Baldwin Building in downtown Honolulu, but felt that the somewhat similar design of the Immigration building "summed up his work." Similar renditions of the tiled, double-pitched, hipped "Dickey roof" with wide eaves can be found all over the islands, especially after its revival on many new buildings during the 1980s and 1990s. Other elements of the Dickey style include balanced proportions, open areas designed to provide natural light and ventilation, and decorative details such as the inlaid compass on the waiting room floor and floral patterns on the terra cotta ceiling tiles.The site was a reception center for aliens arriving by ships during the various waves of immigration of laborers to the islands. The site is also recognized for the central role it had as a processing and internment site during World War II. The Honouliuli Internment Camp, near Ewa and Waipahu, is the other site on the island of Oahu that has met the criteria for national significance. The site contained an office building and apartments for the employees of the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service and their families. Owned and managed by the General Services Administration, the complex must be returned to state control if declared surplus by the federal government. As of 2014, the building houses Homeland Security Investigations, a branch of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement in the Department of Homeland Security and the State of Hawai‘i Department of Health.A special resource study and environmental assessment released by the National Park Service in August 2015 determined that the Honouliuli Internment Camp historic site is a feasible addition to the national park system conditional upon securing public access to the site. However, the U.S. Immigration Station complex is not a feasible addition because the complex is currently used by the aforementioned governmental departments.

Our Kakaʻako is a residential and commercial project in the Kakaʻako neighborhood of Honolulu, Hawaiʻi led by Kamehameha Schools, Stanford Carr, Kobayashi Group, and Castle & Cooke Homes Hawaiʻi Inc. The $60 million project aims to improve Hawaiʻi's urban-island lifestyle by adding 183 homes to the Kakaʻako area, with 88 rental units to be developed by Kamehameha Schools. Castle & Cooke will develop the remaining 95 units for buyers. The project also plans to redevelop existing properties in Kakaʻako for residential and commercial space, as well as integrate mid-block pedestrian crosswalks, networked walking paths, complete streetscapes, and green spaces, along with retail spaces. Our Kakaʻako is estimated to take 15–20 years to complete. In accordance to Kamehameha Schools' sustainability efforts, Our Kakaʻako plans to reuse existing warehouses and other structures to "preserve the feel" of Kakaʻako.

Kewalo Basin is a commercial boat harbor that serves as home to some of Honolulu's commercial fishing fleet, and charter and excursion vessels that serve the Hawaii tourist market. Pre-European contact, the area was historically used for human sacrifice. The land was given to Ihu by Kamehameha I and inherited by his daughter Kamakeʻe and her husband Jonah Piikoi. On the ocean side of the harbor is a small beach park on the Honolulu waterfront, located adjacent to the larger Ala Moana Beach Park. This park is good for swimming, picnicking and sightseeing. It can be accessed from the corners of Ala Moana Boulevard and Ward Avenue.

Civic Center station is a planned Honolulu Rail Transit station in Honolulu, Hawaii. It is part of the fourth HART segment, scheduled to open in 2031.The Hawaiian Station Name Working Group proposed Hawaiian names for the twelve rail stations on the eastern end of the rail system (stations in the Airport and City Center segments) in April 2019. The proposed name for this station, Ka‘ākaukukui, means "the north/right light" and refers to coastal lands east of Waikahalulu, bordering Kukulu‘āe‘o.

Kakaʻako is a commercial and retail district of Honolulu, Hawaiʻi between Ala Moana near Waikīkī to the east and downtown Honolulu and Honolulu Harbor to the west. Kakaʻako is situated along the southern shores of the island of Oʻahu, Hawaii.

Ward Village is a 60-acre (24 ha), master-planned community in the Kaka'ako district of Honolulu. It is being developed by The Howard Hughes Corporation. Once completed, this beachfront development will have luxury residences, retail stores, entertainment venues, pedestrian friendly streets and public open space.
