The Shire Hall is a former municipal building at Shinfield Park just south of Reading, Berkshire. It was the headquarters of Berkshire County Council from 1981 to 1998.

Shinfield is a village and civil parish in the English county of Berkshire, just south of Reading. It contains 4,313 acres (17.45 km2) and is administered by the unitary authority of Wokingham District. Shinfield Park is the northern part of the parish, becoming physically separated from Reading when the M4 motorway was constructed in 1971.

RAF Shinfield Park was a Royal Air Force administrative site in the south of Reading, Berkshire. It served as the Met Office residential training college from 1971 until 2002. The European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts was built on part of the site in 1978.

Ryeish Green is a small hamlet in the civil parish of Shinfield, Berkshire, England, 4 miles south of Reading. It is located next to Spencers Wood and sometimes considered a part of that village. The only road in the hamlet is Hyde End Lane, which was an unnamed road until recently. It is the location of Oakbank School. The site was previously the location of Ryeish Green School, which served as the local polling station for many years. The polling station was moved to Spencer Wood in 2008.

It operates one of the largest supercomputer complexes in Europe and the world's largest archive of numerical weather prediction data.

John Madejski Academy (JMA) is an 11–19 years old academy in Reading, Berkshire, England. JMA is part of the White Horse Federation Trust. Louise Baker became principal of JMA in September 2020. JMA's curriculum includes technology, music, textiles, computing, physical education, history, geography, drama, PSHE (personal, social, health and economic education), art, science, English and mathematics.

Three Mile Cross is a village in the civil parish of Shinfield, to the south of Reading, and immediately north of the adjoining village of Spencers Wood, in the English county of Berkshire. In the 1960s, the M4 Motorway was built and became an artificial barrier between the village and Reading. In the 1980s, the A33 Swallowfield Bypass severed roads to the village of Grazeley lying to the west.

Spencers Wood is a village in the civil parish of Shinfield, Berkshire, England, 4 miles (6.4 km) south of Reading. The village of Three Mile Cross adjoins it to the north. To the west lies the village of Grazeley.Basingstoke road goes through Spencers wood

The River Blackwater is a tributary of the Loddon in England and sub-tributary of the Thames. It rises at two springs in Rowhill Nature Reserve between Aldershot, Hampshire and Farnham, Surrey. It curves a course north then west to join the Loddon in Swallowfield civil parish, central Berkshire. Part of the river splits Hampshire from Surrey; a smaller part does so as to Hampshire and Berkshire. The source is locally rare heath within the Thames Basin Heaths Special Protection Area, due to the Farnborough/Aldershot Built-up Area. After 20 miles (32 km) the Blackwater is joined by the Whitewater near Eversley. The river gives its name to the town of Blackwater, extending back from the bank facing Camberley, and the wider urban area including Aldershot, Farnborough, and Camberley is sometimes collectively referred to as the Blackwater Valley.
