Touchwood, Solihull

Solihull (, or ) is a large market town, and seat of the wider Metropolitan Borough of Solihull in the West Midlands County, England. Solihull is situated on the River Blythe in the Forest of Arden area. The town had a population of 126,577 at the 2021 Census, and its wider borough had a population of 216,240 The town is located 7.5 miles (12 km) southeast of Birmingham, 13 miles (21 km) west of Coventry, 18 miles (29 km) northwest of Warwick and 110 miles (177 km) northwest of London. Solihull itself is mostly urban; however, the larger borough is rural in character, with many outlying villages, and three quarters of the borough designated as green belt. The town and its borough, which has been part of Warwickshire county for most of its history, has roots dating back to the 1st century BC, and was further formally established during the medieval era. Today the town is famed as, amongst other things, the birthplace of the Land Rover car marque, the home of the British equestrian eventing team and is considered to be one of the most prosperous areas in the UK.

The Old Council House is a former municipal building in Poplar Road, Solihull, West Midlands, England. The town hall, which was the meeting place of Solihull Borough Council, is now a public house.

Although originally elected as a Conservative, Knight currently sits as an independent, having had the whip suspended following allegations of serious sexual assault made to the Metropolitan Police in December 2022.

It is named after its largest town, Solihull, from which Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council is based. For Eurostat purposes it is a NUTS 3 region (code UKG32) and is one of seven boroughs or unitary districts that comprise the "West Midlands" NUTS 2 region. Much of the large residential population in the north of the borough centres on the communities of Castle Bromwich, Kingshurst, Marston Green and Smith's Wood as well as the towns of Chelmsley Wood and Fordbridge. In the south are the towns of Shirley and Solihull, as well as the large villages of Knowle, Dorridge, Meriden and Balsall Common. Since 2011, Solihull has formed part of the Greater Birmingham & Solihull Local Enterprise Partnership along with neighbouring authorities Birmingham, Bromsgrove, Cannock Chase, East Staffordshire, Lichfield, Redditch, Tamworth and Wyre Forest.

Tudor Grange Park is a park located in Solihull, West Midlands, England. The Park is located very close to the town centre, within easy walking distance, and is adjacent to the local train station and Leisure Centre, Tudor Grange Leisure Centre. It is described by the council as an informal recreation area with a stream dissecting the park, and holds some major events such as the Solihull Carnival.The Park was bought by the Council in 1946, formerly being farmland belonging to the Bird Family, of Bird's Custard fame, who lived at Tudor Grange, which is now part of the adjacent Solihull College.As well as providing for a children's play area, a skate park was built in 2003. There is also a cycle track and pitch and putt course at the south west end of the site.

Solihull railway station serves the town of Solihull in the West Midlands of England. The station is served by West Midlands Trains and Chiltern Railways. CrossCountry serve the station occasionally to replace stops at Coventry and Birmingham International during engineering work. Solihull used to have a regular Virgin CrossCountry service to Manchester Piccadilly, Blackpool North and Portsmouth Harbour until 2004, when all services through the station were made to run non-stop between Birmingham and Leamington Spa. The station booking office is located in a ground level building at the front of the station, from here there is a subway where footsteps and a lift lead up to the island platform. Services are operated by Chiltern Railways to London Marylebone via High Wycombe, West Midlands Trains to Dorridge, extending to Leamington Spa at peak times. The vast majority of Chiltern Railways services terminate at Birmingham Snow Hill, with extensions to Kidderminster at peak times. West Midlands Trains operate services to Stourbridge Junction on a 20-minute frequency.

Solihull Sixth Form College is a further education college for students aged 16 to 19. It is situated on the outskirts of Solihull in the West Midlands and draws students from across Solihull and Birmingham. Founded in 1974, the college consists of several large buildings on a single site. The college offers different subjects at A-Level, as well as a small number of vocational courses. The college received an Ofsted inspection in February 2020 with the rating "Good".

Solihull School is a coeducational private day school in Solihull, West Midlands, England. Founded in 1560, it is the oldest school in the town and is a member of the Headmasters' and Headmistresses' Conference.

St Peter's Catholic School is a coeducational secondary school in Solihull, West Midlands, England. The school has approximately 1,300 pupils with 200 pupils in the Sixth form. As a faith school, pupils are mainly drawn from Catholic schools in Solihull. The school in its present form was created in 1974 following a merger between Olton Court Convent School (founded in 1903) and Bishop Glancey High school. The Sixth Form was added in 1994.Previously a voluntary aided school administered by Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council, in April 2021 St Peter's Catholic School converted to academy status. The school is now sponsored by the Our Lady and All Saints Catholic Multi Academy Company.
