The Victoria steamboat disaster (also called The Victoria Day Disaster) was a Canadian maritime disaster where on May 24, 1881, the sternwheel passenger steamboat SS Victoria, capsized and sank in the Thames River near what is today Greenway Off-Leash Dog Park in Kensal Park, London, Ontario. The tragedy was one of the worst maritime disasters in Canada at the time, and made major headlines in places as far as England and the United States due to the severity of the disaster. An estimate between 182 and 198 is commonly regarded as the total death toll, although no record of the actual count of passengers was ever taken for those aboard during the Victoria's last voyage, and the vessel was dangerously overcrowded with upwards to 600 passengers. The disaster resulted in the gradual decline in popularity or trust of the riverboat services in London, Ontario through the remainder of the decade, and by the turn of the 20th century, ferries became obsolete when in 1895 the London Street Railway expanded its streetcar services to Byron.

Westmount Shopping Centre, also referred to as Westmount Mall or Westmount Commons, is a shopping centre located in London, Ontario. It is located at 785 Wonderland Road South at the northwest corner of Wonderland Road and Viscount Road.

Saunders Secondary School is located at 941 Viscount Road in the Westmount suburb of London, Ontario, Canada. It is named after William Saunders. William Saunders was a Canadian pioneer and an authority on agriculture and horticulture. Grades offered are 9–12. Saunders' school colours are red and gold and its mascot is a sabre-tooth tiger. Saunders Secondary School is the largest high school in the Thames Valley District School Board with close to 2000 students and 120 teachers. As of 2008, Saunders is also the site of new credit summer school for the TVDSB.

Oakridge Secondary School is one of the government-operated high schools (as opposed to collegiate institutes) in the neighbourhood of Oakridge in London, Ontario, Canada. This school is well-known for being 1 out of 2 schools in London Ontario with the International Baccalaureate (I.B) The school enrolls around 1000 students, and is located on Oxford Street in West London. The school's demonym is Oakridge Oaks and its colours are red, blue and gold.

German Canadian Club of London Field is a multi-purpose stadium in London, Ontario, Canada. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home ground of German Canadian FC and FC London (League 1 only). The stadium holds 1,000 spectators. The stadium field meets all FIFA standards and is comparable to size of most fields in the German Bundesliga. The stadium has a daily maintenance program, change rooms, food and beverage services, and a large licensed patio. The soccer facility can also accommodate 4v4, 7v7, and 9v9 youth soccer pitches.

Springbank Park is a 140-hectare (300 acre) park located along a stretch of the Thames River in London, Ontario, Canada. The largest park in London, it contains 30 km (19 mi) of trails and is home to Storybook Gardens, a family attraction open year-round.

The Sifton Bog Environmentally Significant Area is a wetland jointly administered by the city of London, Ontario and the Upper Thames River Conservation Authority. It is located west of Hyde Park Road and south of Oxford Street inside the city limits of London, Southern Ontario, Canada. It is a Class 2 provincially significant wetland.Prior to 1967 the wetland was called "Byron Bog", having been at that time within the boundaries of the village of Byron, but it was renamed following the donation of the land by the "Sifton Construction Company". However, it had undergone a series of name changes before this time also, being variously named Foster's Bog and Redmond's Bog in the 1880s, after the occupants of the land at that time, and Spruce Bog in the 1890s. The name Byron Bog was used by the 1920s, but no record exists of its Native American name.The Sifton Bog is one of the most southerly acidic bogs in Canada. It contains a number of rare species including four types of carnivorous plants. Among the latter are the sundews Drosera intermedia and Drosera rotundifolia and the purple pitcher plant Sarracenia purpurea. The central bog vegetation is dominated by Sphagnum and Chamaedaphne calyculata (leatherleaf), with a few short larches (Larix laricina) and black spruce (Picea mariana). The depression that houses the bog was created like many local geologic features, by the effects of glaciation. A depression in the Ingersoll Glacial Moraine was left by retreating glaciers. The result was a pocket with no drainage which developed into the Sifton Bog. The 0.2 hectare pond at the centre of the bog, Redmond's Pond, is the remnant of what would have originally been a larger 23 hectare water body, which has gradually filled with peat over the last 10000 years. The peat layer at the centre of the bog has been measured at 18 m (60 ft).Redmond's Pond is named after the Redmond family, who owned part of the land on which the bog is situated, between 1854 and 1900. The pond is less than 1.5 m (5 ft) deep, and has a pH of around 5. On the margins are surface growths of the carnivorous bladderwort Utricularia vulgaris and water lily Nuphar advena, with sparse growths of duckweed (Lemna minor) and water flax-seed (Spirodela polyrhiza).The bog was previously used as a commercial source of sphagnum moss, an alternative to cotton gauze. It was mined during the First World War to support the war effort and the needs of local hospitals. The Alder Buckthorn, a plant native to the bog, was harvested and used during the Second World War to produce gunpowder.

CFPL-FM, branded as FM96, is a Canadian radio station owned by Corus Entertainment and based in London, Ontario. It transmits at a power of 179,000 watts on the assigned frequency of 95.9 MHz. CFPL-FM plays an alternative-leaning active rock format. CFPL-FM's studios are located in downtown with other Corus London stations while its transmitter is located in Southwest London on the CFPL-DT tower that is also utilized by sister station CFHK-FM.

CHST-FM is a Canadian radio station, broadcasting at 102.3 FM in London, Ontario. The station uses the on-air brand and format Jack 102.3. CHST broadcasts from the CFPL-TV tower in Southwest London. Due to CHST's low ERP relative to some London area radio stations, its broadcast signal covers only Middlesex, Elgin, and Oxford counties. The station's coverage to the west is impeded by co-channel WGRT in Port Huron, Michigan.

CFHK-FM is a Canadian radio station licensed to St. Thomas, Ontario, serving London and Southwestern Ontario. The station transmits at an effective radiated power of 22,000 watts (60,000 watts peak) at 103.1 MHz. Owned by Corus Entertainment, the station broadcasts a hot adult contemporary format branded as Fresh 103.1. It's studios and offices are located in downtown London while its transmitter is located on the CFPL-DT tower in Southwest London.

CFPL Television Tower is a 1,034 ft (315 m) tall guyed tower for television broadcasting at London, Ontario. The structure was built in 1961 and was the second supertall TV tower to be built in Canada and the second tallest structure in Canada at that time. Only the CHCH Television Tower in Stoney Creek was taller. The current tower replaced the original 576-foot (176 m) CFPL Television Tower completed in 1953.
