East Los Angeles College (ELAC) is a public community college in Monterey Park, California, a suburb of Los Angeles. It is part of the California Community Colleges System and the Los Angeles Community College District. With fourteen communities comprising its primary service area and an enrollment of 35,403 students, ELAC had the largest student body campus by enrollment in the state of California as of 2018. It was situated in northeastern East Los Angeles before that part of unincorporated East Los Angeles was annexed by Monterey Park in the early 1970s. ELAC offers associate degrees and certificates.

The Vincent Price Art Museum (VPAM) is an art museum located at East Los Angeles College in Monterey Park, California, US.The museum is named after American actor Vincent Price who donated portions of his personal art collection to the college in 1957. The museum's collection now contains over 9,000 objects ranging from impressionist paintings to Japanese prints to objects from the Ancient Americas, 2,000 of which were donated by Price.It has been a venue for underrepresented artists since its founding, organizing key solo exhibitions for Los Angeles-based artists including Laura Aguilar, Carlos Almaraz, Nao Bustamante, Rafa Esparza, Judithe Hernández, Manuel López, Star Montana and Shizu Saldamando.In 2014 the museum presented Who Cares Wins!, a solo exhibition for L.A. artist Michael C. Hsiung. The installation showcased more than one-hundred ink drawings, paintings, and other related mixed-media works featuring the artist's signature graphic style, iconography, and wit.

Atlantic station is an at grade light rail station on the L Line of the Los Angeles Metro Rail system. It is located at the intersection of Atlantic and Pomona Boulevards in East Los Angeles.This station opened on November 15, 2009, as part of the Gold Line Eastside Extension and currently serves as the southeastern terminus of the L Line. The station is expected to be relocated to accommodate service for the Eastside Transit Corridor Phase 2 by 2035. This station and all the other Eastside Extension stations will be part of the E Line upon completion of the Regional Connector Transit Project in 2023. A 268-space parking structure for this station opened on April 22, 2010, joining a 21-space parking lot.

It is located at the intersection of 3rd Street and Mednik Avenue in East Los Angeles, California. The station is served by the L Line. This station opened on November 15, 2009, as part of the Gold Line Eastside Extension. This station and all the other Eastside Extension stations will be part of the E Line upon completion of the Regional Connector project in 2023.

Monterey Park is a city in the western San Gabriel Valley region of Los Angeles County, California, United States, approximately seven miles (11 km) east of the Downtown Los Angeles civic center. It is bordered by Alhambra, East Los Angeles, Montebello and Rosemead. The city's motto is "Pride in the past, Faith in the future".Monterey Park is part of a cluster of cities (Alhambra, Arcadia, Temple City, Rosemead, San Marino, and San Gabriel in the west San Gabriel Valley) with a growing Asian American population. East Los Angeles (Spanish: Este de Los Ángeles), or East L.A., often referred to by locals as "East Los", is an unincorporated area in Los Angeles County, California, United States. For statistical purposes, the United States Census Bureau regards East Los Angeles as a census-designated place (CDP). As of the 2020 census it had a population of 118,786, a drop of 6.1% from 2010, when the population was 126,496.The area is notable for its high Hispanic/Latino population, which, at over 95%, is the highest proportion of Hispanic/Latino Americans of any city or census-designated place in the United States outside of Puerto Rico.

James A. Garfield High School is a public, year-round high school founded in 1925 in East Los Angeles, an unincorporated section of Los Angeles County, California. The proportion of advanced placement by students at Garfield is 38%. Students who are in unfavorable circumstances, with regard to financial or social opportunities, comprise about 93% of the student population. The minority comprehensive admission is 100%. Garfield is one out of 254 high schools in the Los Angeles Unified School District as of 2020. The magnet program in the high school focuses on serving students who plan to study in the Computer Science field. The school was made famous by the film Stand and Deliver about the teacher Jaime Escalante and the HBO film Walkout. The homecoming football game known as the East LA Classic has taken place since 1925.

The Sybil Brand Institute is a disused women's jail in Monterey Park, Los Angeles County, California. It is named for 20th century jail conditions activist Sybil Brand. The jail was completed in 1963 and at one time had over 2,000 inmates. It was closed in 1997 because of its poor physical condition as a result of damage suffered during the 1994 Northridge earthquake.The jail was referenced in the legal drama TV series Perry Mason in the 1965 episode "The Case of the Laughing Lady". Hedy Lamarr was briefly jailed at the Sybil Brand Institute after being arrested for shoplifting in January 1966.The jail is referenced in Kate Braverman's 1993 fiction novel Wonders of the West starting on the very first page of the text. Since 1997, the former jail location has been used in movies and television shows such as 24, Reno 911!: Miami, CSI, Legally Blonde, Torchwood: Miracle Day Desperate Housewives, Jackie Brown, and S.W.A.T..

Edmund D. Edelman Children's Court is a Los Angeles County Superior Court in Monterey Park, California, United States. This court handles all of the juvenile dependency cases in Los Angeles County. The court is named after former member of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors Edmund D. Edelman. Social workers from the Department of Children and Family Services (Los Angeles County) investigate child welfare concerns in the county. The building houses attorneys from Los Angeles County Counsel, Los Angeles Dependency Lawyers, and Children's Law Center. In 2012, the media gained unprecedented access to the court. At that time, about 25,000 cases annually went before the combined 21 judges, commissioners and referees who oversee the cases.

The Chinese Cemetery of Los Angeles is one of several historical cemeteries found around East Los Angeles, including Evergreen and Calvary cemeteries. Located at First Street and Eastern Avenue in the Belvedere Gardens section of East Los Angeles, today the cemetery is now bordered on the south by the Pomona Freeway (60) and on the east by the Long Beach Freeway (710). The cemetery was established by the Chinese Consolidated Benevolent Association of Los Angeles (CCBA) in 1922 to provide burial grounds for Chinese residents in Los Angeles, as at the time, all cemeteries in Los Angeles barred anyone of Chinese descent from purchasing burial plots.CCBA also owns a section of the Forest Lawn Memorial Park in the Hollywood Hills that also functions as a Chinese Cemetery.

Golden Gate Theater is a California Churrigueresque-style movie palace built in 1927 on Whittier Boulevard in East Los Angeles, California. In 1982, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The theater closed in 1986; the retail building built around it was damaged in the 1987 Whittier Narrows earthquake and demolished in 1992. The remaining theater building was left vacant for more than 20 years as preservationists fought with owners and developers over the future of the building. It was finally converted into a drugstore and reopened in 2012.
