Travis Wetland

Parklands is a suburb of Christchurch, New Zealand. It is located north east of the city centre near Bottle Lake Forest. The area between Burwood Hospital and Waimairi Golf Club was occupied by a brickworks established by John Brightling (1842–1928). It was developed as a residential suburb from 1963.

Queen Elizabeth II Park was a multi-use stadium in Christchurch, New Zealand, located in a large park of the same name. The stadium had a capacity of 25,000 people and was built in 1973 to host the 1974 British Commonwealth Games, with a temporary 10,000 seat western stand erected for that event to take the capacity to 35,000. The stadium suffered some damage in the September 2010 Canterbury earthquake but was able to reopen, only to be damaged beyond repair in February 2011 Christchurch earthquake. The park is now home to two schools: Avonside Girls' and Shirley Boys' and Taiora QEII Recreation and Sport Centre – all newly built since the earthquakes.

Village Green was a cricket venue in Christchurch. It is a back-up first-class cricket ground in New Zealand. It was the home of the District's first class cricket team, the State Canterbury Wizards.Village Green is part of the main stadium of Queen Elizabeth II Park, and was often used for inter-provincial competition when the AMI Stadium was unavailable for use. The stadium had been damaged after the 2010 Canterbury earthquake but was able to reopen; it was severely damaged beyond repair after the February 2011 Christchurch earthquake which has damaged the running track and recreation complex. The stadium and pool complex was demolished in 2012 after engineering reports found it beyond repair.

1981 World Masters Athletics Championships is the fourth in a series of World Masters Athletics Outdoor Championships (called World Veterans Championships, World Veterans Games, or World Veterans Track and Field Championships at the time) that took place in Christchurch, New Zealand, from 7 to 14 January 1981. The turnout was better than expected, despite the remote location, : 177  though no Eastern European or third world nations were represented. : 1 The main venue was Queen Elizabeth II Park, : 2  which was later destroyed by the 2011 Christchurch earthquake. A grass track outside the stadium was used to hold many running events. : 9 : 20 This edition of masters athletics Championships had a minimum age limit of 35 years for women and 40 years for men. The governing body of this series is World Association of Veteran Athletes (WAVA). WAVA was formed during meeting at the inaugural edition of this series at Toronto in 1975, then officially founded during the second edition in 1977, then renamed as World Masters Athletics (WMA) at the Brisbane Championships in 2001. This Championships was organized by WAVA in coordination with a Local Organising Committee (LOC) headed by John Macdonald. John Macdonald also ran in the competition and successfully defended his M45 10K title from 1979. : 177 : 15 In addition to a full range of track and field events, non-stadia events included 10K Cross Country, 10K Race Walk (women), 20K Race Walk (men), and Marathon. Many distance runners also competed in 10K and 25K road races at the 14th Annual World Veterans Distance Running Championships held around Centennial Lagoon in Palmerston North on 3 - 4 January. : 8–9 : 3–5 

Burwood is a north-eastern suburb of Christchurch, New Zealand. The suburb is mostly a residential area and is centred on Burwood Hospital, Travis Wetland Nature Heritage Park and Bottle Lake Forest (a 31-acre (130,000 m2) recreation, forested area). Large areas of Burwood, including the Horseshoe Lake area, suffered severe damage in the 2010 and 2011 Christchurch earthquakes, and were abandoned under government policy that placed them in a residential red zone.

Avondale is a suburb of Christchurch in the South Island of New Zealand. It is located 6 kilometres (3.7 mi) northeast of the city center, and is close to the Avon River, four kilometers to the northwest of its estuary. The suburb is centered on Avondale Road and so named due to its proximity to the Avon River. It has a good sized park on Mervyn Drive called Avondale Park. This park has a kids playground, a tennis court, basketball court, and a football field in winter. There is ample vacant red zone land in Avondale for activities such as leisure and dog walking.

A residential red zone is any of several areas of land in and around Christchurch, New Zealand, that experienced severe damage in the 2010 and 2011 Christchurch earthquakes and were deemed infeasible to rebuild on. Through voluntary buyouts, the Crown acquired and demolished or removed over 8,000 properties.: 5  The majority were located in a broad swath of the eastern suburbs along the Avon River / Ōtākaro that had suffered damage from soil liquefaction.

Chisnallwood Intermediate is the main Intermediate school in the eastern suburbs of Christchurch, New Zealand. The school had a student roll of 833 students in 2008, which had shrunk to 631 by 2016. The school was recommended for closure or merger in the 2013 Christchurch school review commissioned by Education Minister Hekia Parata, but was spared.

Waimairi Beach is a suburb of Christchurch, New Zealand. It is located north-east of the city. It is east of Parklands and north of North New Brighton. The word "waimairi" translates to "listless stream".One of the main roads through the suburb is Aston Drive. This was originally Vogel Street, named after Prime Minister Julius Vogel (1835–1899) and renamed to Aston Street in 1848 after local landowner Sidney John Aston (1886–1946) and then to Aston Drive in 1995.The area was part of Waimairi County until 1982, when the county was renamed to Waimairi District. The district was amalgamated into the Christchurch City Council in 1989 as part of the 1989 New Zealand local government reforms.

North New Brighton is a suburb on the northern side of Christchurch city. It was originally known as North Beach and was readily accessible from Christchurch city by tram. It was renamed North New Brighton in 1953.

Aranui is one of the eastern suburbs of Christchurch. It is a lower socio-economic area. The area is predominantly residential with pockets of light industry. There is a cluster of shops and service facilities at the intersection of Breezes Road and Pages Road.

Prestons is a suburb on the northeastern side of Christchurch city. The suburb is named for Thomas Herbert Preston (1824–1884), a local resident and chair of the Avon Road Board. It was first planned as a residential suburb in 2007, and constructed in the 2010s.The suburb has a main exit to Preston Road at the north, and a minor one to the east. An exit to the south to reduce congestion has been delayed by disagreements over the intersection design. The new exit was still delayed in May 2023.
