Belfast Great Victoria Street railway station

The Europa Hotel is a four-star hotel in Great Victoria Street, Belfast, Northern Ireland. It is known as the "most bombed hotel in the world" after having suffered 36 bomb attacks during the Troubles.

The Monument to the Unknown Woman Worker is a 1992 sculpture by Louise Walsh in Belfast, Northern Ireland.The sculpture is located on the city's Great Victoria Street adjacent to the Europa Hotel. It is cast in bronze and features two working-class women with symbols of women's work embedded on the surfaces. Domestic items such as colanders, a shopping basket and clothes pegs are part of the sculpture.The Department of the Environment's original commission, in the late 1980s, was for an artwork to reflect the nearby Amelia Street's history as a red-light district. Walsh's design "Monument to the Unknown Woman Worker" was accepted by the project's landscape architect and the Art in Public Spaces Research Group, however the Belfast Development Office and the Belfast City Council opposed the project and the selected design, and the project was dropped in 1989. A few years later a private developer recommissioned the work and it was erected in 1992 (1992).Walsh was born in County Cork, and received her MA in sculpture from the University of Ulster.

Great Victoria Street in Belfast, Northern Ireland, is a major thoroughfare located in the city centre and is one of the important streets used by pedestrians alighting from Belfast Great Victoria Street railway station and walking into shopping streets such as Royal Avenue. The street connects with the Donegall Road and the Lisburn Road which are also linked into Shaftesbury Square in the southern direction and towards the Donegall Square in the northern direction, which links via Howard Street into Donegall Place. The street itself was named in honour of Queen Victoria. It includes the Monument to the Unknown Woman Worker, which is in a prominent walking route into Belfast Great Victoria Street railway station. There are also a number of churches located along the street. The station, which is a terminal building, probably designed by Ulster Railway engineer John Godwin, was completed in 1848. In April 1976 Northern Ireland Railways closed Great Victoria Street, and the Belfast Queen's Quay terminus of the Bangor line, replacing them with the Belfast Central station. Great Victoria Street station was demolished. After a feasibility study was commissioned in 1986 it was agreed that a new development on the site, incorporating the reintroduction of the Great Northern Railway, was viable. The Great Northern Tower was built on the site of the old station terminus in 1992, and the second Great Victoria Street Station was opened on 30 September 1995. It is only yards from the site of its predecessor.

The Crown Liquor Saloon, also known as the Crown Bar, is a pub in Great Victoria Street in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Refurbished in 1885, and at least twice since, it is an outstanding example of a Victorian gin palace, and one of Northern Ireland's best-known pubs. It is owned by the National Trust and is leased to Mitchells & Butlers who run it as a Nicholson's pub.

Sandy Row (Irish: Rae na Gainmhe) is a large inner city estate in south Belfast, Northern Ireland. It lends its name to the surrounding residential community, which is predominantly Protestant working-class. The Sandy Row area had a population of 2,153 in 2001; in 2018, the population was estimated to be around 4,000. It is a staunchly loyalist area of Belfast, being a traditional heartland for affiliation with the paramilitary Ulster Defence Association (UDA) and the Orange Order.

The Assembly Buildings in Belfast, Northern Ireland, are the headquarters of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland. Although there was a decision taken to move to a new location the General Assembly, in 2005, voted to overturn the decision. Since the refurbishment, in 1992, the Assembly Buildings are now open for functions as a commercial conference centre.

The Royal Belfast Academical Institution is an independent grammar school in Belfast, Northern Ireland. With the support of Belfast's leading reformers and democrats, it opened its doors in 1814. Until 1849, when it was superseded by what today is Queen's University, the institution pioneered Belfast's first programme of collegiate education. Locally referred to as Inst, the modern school educates boys from ages 11 to 18. It is one of the eight Northern Irish schools represented on the Headmasters' and Headmistresses' Conference. The school occupies an 18-acre site in the centre of the city on which its first buildings were erected.

The Aurora building was a proposed construction project that was not granted planning permission. If built at the proposed height of 109 metres, 37 storeys, it would have been the tallest building on the island of Ireland. The proposed location of the Belfast tower was on the corner of Great Victoria and Ventry Street (the site formerly home to the city centre's last petrol station). Great Victoria Street also fronts other notable buildings in Belfast such as the Grand Opera House, the Europa Hotel and The Crown Liquor Saloon.The development was proposed to contain almost 300 apartments and 7,000 square feet (700 m2) of commercial space. The contractors involved in the development were McAlister Holdings, Strategic Planning and HKR Architects.Planning permission was refused, and a subsequent appeal was withdrawn in February 2011. A receiver was appointed to the Aurora site on the instruction of Anglo Irish Bank on 27 January 2011, the same day it placed two other McAlister sites into receivership. Those two sites, at Greenhall Highway in Coleraine and Dunlady Road in Dundonald, were the property of McAlister Construction Ltd.

Belfast Metropolitan College, also known as Belfast Met, is a further and higher education institution in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The college offers both vocational education and academic qualifications. With over 37,000 enrolments and an annual budget in the region of £60 million, it is the largest FE college in the UK and the fourth largest post-secondary institution in the UK.

Belfast Grand Central station (originally the Belfast Transport Hub) is a railway and bus station in the city centre of Belfast, Northern Ireland. It has replaced Great Victoria Street railway station and the Europa Buscentre. It is built next to its predecessors, in a new neighbourhood called Weaver's Cross. The first bus service, to Dublin, departed from the station on 8 September 2024, and the first rail service, also to Dublin, departed from the station on 13 October 2024.

Eipic (Irish: [ˈɛpʲɪc]; "epic"), styled as EIPIC, is a restaurant in Belfast, Northern Ireland. It was awarded a Michelin star in 2016 and retained that to present.Head chef of EIPIC is Alex Greene. He took over from Danni Barry in late September 2017.

Shaftesbury Square Hospital was a health facility in Great Victoria Street, Belfast, Northern Ireland. It was managed by the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust.
