Mittagstein

The Kreuzfelsen is a mountain in the Upper Palatine Forest in Germany, near the border with the Czech Republic. With an elevation of 938 m (3,077 ft), the Kreuzfelsen is the sixth-highest mountain in the Upper Palatine Forest and the highest mountain on the German side of the mountain range. The Kreuzfelsen is located at the southern end of the Upper Palatine Forest, between the cities of Furth im Wald and Waldmünchen.

The Kreuzfelsen is a 999 m (3,278 ft) high rock outcrop, that forms the western cornerstone of the Kaitersberg mountain ridge in the Bavarian Forest in southern Germany. From the giant cross on its summit the view sweeps down into the Zeller Valley and over to the town of Bad Kötzting and also far over the western part of the Bavarian Forest. Below the Kreuzfelsen is "Highwayman Heigl's Cave" (Räuber-Heigl's-Höhle), the hideout of a 19th-century robber. Numerous trails lead up to the summit cross, the most well-trodden being the E6 European long distance path which runs from Kötzting past the nearby Kötztinger Hütte cafe and the Riedlstein to the Großer Arber. On the Kreuzfelsen there is an extensive range of worthwhile sport climbing routes, that are well-secured and can be negotiated using top roping.

Hohenwarth is a municipality in the district of Cham in Bavaria in Germany.

At 1,132 m (3,714 ft) sea level the Großer Riedelstein is the highest point on the Kaitersberg mountain ridge in the Bavarian Forest in southern Germany. Its rocky summit is decorated by a stone monument in memory of the poet, Maximilian Schmidt, known as "Forest Schmidt" (Waldschmidt). In summer the Großer Riedelstein is a favourite hiking destination with its beautiful panoramic views in all directions. In the winter a ski lift brings skiers from the Ecker Saddle to just beneath the summit. Several hiking trails lead to the top, including those from Thalersdorf, Arnbruck and Arrach. In addition the E6 European long-distance trail passes over the Großer Riedelstein en route from Bad Kötzting to the Großen Arber. Not far from the summit there is an important climbing area, the so-called Rauchröhren. To the south is the Kleiner Riedelstein, 1,042 m (3,419 ft).

The Kaitersberg is a low mountain crest up to 1,132 metres (3,714 ft) east of Bad Kötzting in the Bavarian Forest in southern Germany. Its long ridge runs eastwards towards the Großer Arber. The highest peak on the ridge is the 1,132 metre high Großer Riedelstein with its Waldschmidt monument. On another peak, the Mittagstein, 1,034 m (3,392 ft), is the Kötztinger Hütte, a restaurant and mountain hut. Other prominent peaks with odd rock formations made of gneiss are the Kreuzfelsen, 999 m (3,278 ft), with its hilltop cross, and the Rauchröhren, 1,044 m (3,425 ft). Below the Kreuzfelsen is "Highwayman Heigl's Cave" (Räuber-Heigl-Höhle), the hideout of Michael Heigl from Beckendorf, who threatened the area here in the 19th century. The Rauchröhren offers demanding climbing area of up to 11th grade. Its rock pinnacle is the most difficult of the Bavarian Forest summits (IV). Occasionally gliders fly above the Kaitersberg from the nearby airfield at Arnbruck, looking for lift from the winds blowing up the slopes in order to gain height when there are no thermals.

The Hohe Bogen (archaically often Hohenbogen) is a roughly 8-kilometre-long mountain ridge in the Bavarian Forest. It rises in the Bavarian province of Upper Palatinate in the county of Cham and is almost equally divided between the municipalities of Neukirchen b. Hl. Blut, Rimbach and Eschlkam between Furth im Wald and Bad Kötzting. Its territory includes, from northwest to southeast, the summits of the Burgstall (976 m), Bärenriegel (1,017 m), Eckstein (1,073 m), Schwarzriegel (1,079 m) and Ahornriegel (1,050 m). On the Burgstall there is a transmission site, on the Schwarzriegel is an old Luftwaffe transmission tower. On the northern slopes of the Ahornriegel is a ski area. A double chairlift, 1.36 kilometres long, transports passengers through 393 vertical metres in 15 minutes and runs to the top of the mountain.
