Harriton is an informal designation given to the northwestern portion of Lower Merion Township, Pennsylvania. Located in the suburbs of Philadelphia, it is one of the wealthiest areas in the state. Harriton contains the community of Gladwyne, and also the northeastern portions of Villanova, Rosemont, and Bryn Mawr. It is located just to the north of the SEPTA R5 line and forms a portion of the Main Line suburbs.

Harriton High School is a public secondary school serving portions of Lower Merion Township, Pennsylvania, in Philadelphia's Main Line suburbs. Harriton is one of two high schools in the Lower Merion School District; the other is Lower Merion High School.

Harriton House, originally known as Bryn Mawr, is a historic house on Pennsylvania's Main Line, most famously the residence of Charles Thomson, the secretary of the Continental Congress. It was originally built in 1704 by Rowland Ellis, a Welsh Quaker, and was called Bryn Mawr, meaning high hill. The modern town of Bryn Mawr is named after the house, and the National Register of Historic Places has it listed under the original name. It was originally built as a T-shaped, two-story fieldstone dwelling with a gable roof. The original front section is approximately 37 feet wide and 22 feet deep and the rear extension is approximately 18 feet wide and 23 feet deep. A one-story brick kitchen was added to the end of the rear extension. The house was renovated in 1911 and major additions were made in 1926.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.

The 1939 U.S. Open was the 43rd U.S. Open, held June 8–12 at Philadelphia Country Club in Gladwyne, Pennsylvania, a suburb northwest of Philadelphia. Byron Nelson won after two playoff rounds to prevail against Craig Wood and Denny Shute to claim his only U.S. Open title, and the second of his five major championships. It was the first playoff at the U.S. Open in eight years and the first three-way playoff since 1913. Sam Snead led after each of the first two rounds but his triple-bogey on the 72nd hole dropped him to fifth place, two strokes back. Two years earlier, he was runner-up in his first U.S. Open in 1937. Following World War II, Snead finished second three more times, but never won the title to complete a career grand slam. In his fourth U.S. Open, Ben Hogan made his first 36-hole cut at the championship and finished in a tie for 62nd. He finished in a tie for fifth the following year; after the war he won four U.S. Opens and contended in numerous others. He made every subsequent cut he played in at the U.S. Open, the last in 1967 at age 54.

The Idlewild Farm Complex is a 26-acre (11 ha) plot of land in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. It was originally part of the Welsh Tract and is now a portion of the Bridlewild Trails Association.

Philadelphia Country Club is a private country club located in Gladwyne, Pennsylvania, Lower Merion Township, Montgomery County. It has 27 holes of regulation golf including one 18-hole championship course, a nine-hole course, an Olympic-sized and baby pool, shooting lodge and range, squash facility, tennis, and paddle courts, a bowling alley, and a 100,000-foot clubhouse that includes four dining rooms, a terrace for outdoor seating during the warmer months and ballroom for weddings and bar and bat mitzvahs. The heart of the club is the clubhouse, which includes four dining rooms and an outside terrace during warmer weather. There is also a ballroom that can accommodate up to 400 people, and numerous multi-purpose rooms that can be used for parties or meeting rooms. The clubhouse includes a fitness center, golf pro shop, and multiple locker rooms. Philadelphia Country Club was one of the first six members of the USGA, and the golf course hosted the U.S. Open in 1939. It also hosted the 1899 U.S. Women's Championship and the 2003 U.S. Women's Amateur and co-hosted the 2005 Men's Amateur. Golf includes an 18-hole golf course, as well as a nine-hole golf course added in 1990 to celebrate the club's one hundredth anniversary. The 18-hole championship golf course is known as the Spring Mill Course and the 9-hole golf course is called Centennial. The club has three practice areas. 1) The main practice area features a driving range, putting green and separate short game chipping area. 2)The second practice area features a practice hole and practice putting green. 3) In 2021, the Philadelphia Country Club opened a new full length driving range and training center. There are four other buildings at Philadelphia Country Club. One is a squash building that includes singles and doubles courts, viewing areas along with a party space and a pro shop. Philadelphia Country Club has hosted multiple U.S. Open Squash tournaments, including one as late as 2013 with another planned for 2015. The squash building includes four bowling alleys and a party area. Another building is the "summer house" that includes the snack bar, drink bar and dining area for the pool, along with a tennis and paddle hut on the other side of the building that includes a pro shop and lounge. The view from the summer house is aligned along the side of the fairway of the 18th hole of the Spring Mill course. There is also a shooting lodge for both trap and skeet shooting. The shooting lodge includes a large stone fireplace, a bar and party area. The club's grounds maintenance facility was renovated from the old clubhouse.

Woodmont is a mansion and hilltop estate of 72 acres (29 ha) in Gladwyne, a suburb of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States. In 1953, it became the home of evangelist Father Divine, and the center of his International Peace Mission movement. It was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1998 for its well-preserved Chateau-style architecture, and for its association with Father Divine.

Appleford/Parsons-Banks Arboretum (24 acres) is a non-profit arboretum and country estate located at 770 Mount Moro Road, Villanova, Pennsylvania.Appelford began in 1682 with William Penn's grant of 100 acres (0.40 km2) to James Moore. In 1728 Robert Jones erected a one-story stone farmhouse on the site, parts of which still stand. The house was enlarged and updated over the years, and the property grew to be as large as 800 acres (3.2 km2) before it was broken up circa 1900. Today's estate was created in the 1920s by landscape architect Thomas Sears and architect R. Brognard Okie, and contains the furniture and collections of its last owners, Lewis and Anabel Parsons. Mrs. Parsons donated the property in 1973 to Lower Merion Township.The arboretum contains streams and ponds, woods, rhododendron stands, a rose garden, copper beeches, stone walls, and a series of formal gardens.

The Battle of Matson's Ford was a battle in the Philadelphia campaign of the American Revolutionary War fought on December 11, 1777 in the area surrounding Matson's Ford (present-day Conshohocken and West Conshohocken, Pennsylvania). In this series of minor skirmish actions, advance patrols of Pennsylvania militia encountered a British foraging expedition and were overrun. The British pushed ahead to Matson's Ford, where units of the Continental Army were making their way across the Schuylkill River. The Americans retreated to the far side, destroying their temporary bridge across the Schuylkill. The British left the area the next day to continue foraging elsewhere; the Continentals crossed the river at Swede's Ford (present-day Norristown), a few miles upriver from Matson's Ford.

Conshohocken station is a station located along the SEPTA Manayunk/Norristown Line. The station, located below Fayette Street, at Washington and Harry Streets in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania, includes a 95-space parking lot. In FY 2013, Conshohocken station had a weekday average of 646 boardings and 682 alightings.Trains run with relative infrequency from this station given the actual and potential ridership, 30 to 40 minutes apart in rush hour and 1 hour or longer apart off-peak. Center City Philadelphia is about a 40-minute travel time away by regional rail from here, though it is only 15 miles away.

West Conshohocken is a borough in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 1,320 at the 2010 census. Its sister community is Conshohocken, Pennsylvania, located across the Schuylkill River. Montgomery County's seat, Norristown, is located approximately two miles north of, and across the river from, West Conshohocken.

Dove Lake is a reservoir in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. It was created by damming Mill Creek. Dove Lake was the setting of the 1885 painting The Swimming Hole by Thomas Eakins. Dove Lake is on a privately owned property in Bryn Mawr and Gladwyne.
