Les Cordeliers

The Palais de la Bourse or Palais du Commerce is a building located in the quarter Les Cordeliers, in 2nd arrondissement of Lyon. It currently houses the headquarters of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Lyon. It is served by the metro station Cordeliers, and by bus lines C3,13, 18, 23, 25, 28, 58, 71, 91 and 99. It is bordered by the place des Cordeliers to the south, the place de la Bourse to the north, the Rue de la République to the west and Rue de la Bourse to the east. In 1994, the building was classified as a monument historique.

The Festival international du polar de Lyon, or Quais du polar is a festival of crime fiction in print and film. It has been held annually in Lyons since 2005.

The Collège-lycée Ampère is a famous school located in the 2nd arrondissement of Lyon.

The Chapelle de la Trinité is a Roman Catholic chapel located at 29-31 rue de la Bourse, in the 2nd arrondissement of Lyon, France. It is the first church in baroque style built in Lyon and is classified as historic monument.

The Place de la République is a square located in the Bellecour quarter in the 2nd arrondissement of Lyon, France. It is crossed by the Rue de la République along a north-south axis. It belongs to the zone classified as World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

Rue Mercière is a street of Les Cordeliers quarter in the 2nd arrondissement of Lyon. From north to south, it connects the Place des Jacobins to the Place d'Albon. This street is served by metro stations Bellecour and Cordeliers of the line and by the bus station Jacobins of the lines 91 and 99. It belongs to the zone classified as World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

The arrondissement of Lyon is an arrondissement of France in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. It has 135 communes. Its population is 1,585,411 (2016), and its area is 1,534.6 km2 (592.5 sq mi).

The Abbey of Saint-Pierre-les-Nonnains in Lyon, also known as the Abbey of the Dames de Saint-Pierre or simply Palais Saint-Pierre, is an ancient Catholic religious edifice that housed Benedictine nuns from the 10th century onwards, and was rebuilt in the 17th century. Closed during the French Revolution, the former abbey is now home to the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Lyon.

Hôtel de Ville – Louis Pradel is a transfer station in the Lyon Metro, providing a connection between Line A and Line C. The station is located in the Presqu'île district in Lyon, France. Serving Lyon's 1st arrondissement, the station is near Lyon City Hall with access to Place des Terreaux, Opéra Nouvel, Museum of Fine Arts of Lyon, and other nearby attractions. The station is a major interchange and is Line C's southern terminus providing its only connection with the rest of the metro system.

The Place des Jacobins is a square located in the 2nd arrondissement of Lyon. It was created in 1556 and a fountain was added in 1856. The square belongs to the zone classified as World Heritage Site by UNESCO. According to Jean Pelletier, this square is one of the most famous in Lyon, because of its location in the center of the 2nd arrondissement and its heavy traffic, as 12 streets lead here. The square, particularly its architecture and its features, has changed its appearance many times throughout years.

The Opéra Nouvel (Nouvel Opera House) in Lyon, France, is the home of the Opéra National de Lyon. The original opera house was re-designed by the distinguished French architect, Jean Nouvel between 1985 and 1993 in association with the agency of scenography dUCKS scéno and the acoustician Peutz. Serge Dorny was appointed general director in 2003.

Democritus meditating on the seat of the soul (Démocrite méditant sur le siège de l'âme) is a statue by Léon-Alexandre Delhomme (1841–1895), exhibited at the Paris Salon of 1868. It shows the Greek philosopher Democritus, his eyes fixed on a skull he holds in his hands. It is now exhibited in the garden of the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Lyon. On its base is inscribed an extract from the 29th fable of La Fontaine: "Hippocrates in time arrived at the conclusion that he had not sought whether the heart or the head was the seat of either reason or sense in man and beast"
