Dakota Crescent is one of Singapore’s oldest housing estates built by Singapore Improvement Trust (SIT), the government development authority, in 1958.Only 15 original blocks, all of which are even numbered, remain. These low-rise flats are located at Old Airport Road. Many of the residents who formerly resided in the old estate of Dakota Crescent were once victims, or relatives or descendants of such persons, of several fire calamities which destroyed the numerous kampongs (villages) all across Singapore at that time, such as mainly from the so-called "Friday The 13th Fire" at Kampong Tiong Bahru on 13 February 1959 and the big fire at Kampong Koo Chye on 5 April 1958 (present-day Lorong 3 Geylang) in Kallang.The estate used to be part of a larger SIT estate called Kallang Airport Estate. The even numbered side used to stretch to the other end of Dakota Crescent, while even more odd numbered blocks were located on the other side of Old Airport Road. All but two of the odd numbered blocks and HDB blocks 93-99, have since been demolished. On the even numbered side, blocks 2-6 and 10-32 still exist while blocks 8 and 34-72 were demolished. Blocks 8 and 58-66 were the first to be demolished, demolished between 30 and 40 years ago. Blocks 68, 70 and 72 were HDB blocks completed later and were selected for the Selective En Bloc Redevelopment Scheme in 1999 and demolished in 2005. Residents of these affected blocks moved to the HDB-built replacement flats, which were located at the nearby Pine Green (these comprise Blocks 39, 43, 45, 47 and 49 at Jalan Tiga) in 2004. In 2014, Dakota Crescent was earmarked for further future redevelopment under Mountbatten's estate-renewal plans and all remaining residents relocated and moved out by the end of 2016.The area of what is now Dakota Crescent was the easternmost boundary of the former Kallang Airport. The name "Dakota Crescent" was derived from the Douglas DC-3 "Dakota" aircraft that used to land frequently at the Kallang Airport when it was still operational. Other locations that bear the name "Dakota" include the roads Dakota Crescent and Dakota Close, as well as the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) station Dakota.

Kallang Tennis Centre is a tennis court in Kallang, Singapore. It is located along Stadium Boulevard, adjacent to the Kallang Field, and is part of the Kallang Sports Centre. It is located just outside the central business district area.

The Former Singapore Badminton Hall (Abbreviation: SBH; Chinese: 新加坡羽毛球馆; pinyin: xīnjiāpō yǔmáoqiúguǎn), formerly Singapore Badminton Stadium, is a former indoor sports hall for badminton located on Guillemard Road in Geylang, Singapore. The old facility was previously situated at 100 Guillemard Road. The hall's nearby building (102 Guillemard Road) was formerly the headquarters of the Singapore Badminton Association (SBA). Both buildings were refurnished in May 2009 as the commercial centre Guillemard Village. The current Singapore Badminton Hall is located at 1 Lorong 23 Geylang.

Kallang Field is a sports field located in Kallang, Singapore. It is part of the Kallang Sport Complex, near where the Singapore Indoor Stadium and the Singapore Sports Hub are.

Singapore School for the Deaf (SSD) was a school for deaf children in Singapore. It was operated by the Singapore Association for the Deaf (SADeaf). It opened in 1963.In January 1977, Dr. Jerry Goh Ewe Hong established the Philosophy of Total Communication or TC at the school.From the 1980s to the early 1990s, its enrollment was about 300. By the 2010s, the number of students was below 20, and the school in 2011 froze enrolment, resulting in a student body of two in 2017. That year, the school closed and sent its students to Lighthouse School.

Jalan Benaan Kapal (Chinese: 惹兰百纳安克巴) is a minor road in Kallang, Singapore. Running along the northern bank of the Geylang River near to the river mouth at Kallang Basin, Jalan Benaan Kapal is within the close proximity of the Singapore Sports Hub, Leisure Park Kallang, Kallang Theatre and Stadium MRT station.

Dakota MRT station is an underground Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) station on the Circle line in Geylang planning area, Singapore, next to Geylang River. Located along Old Airport Road between the junctions of Jalan Dua and Dakota Crescent, Dakota station took its name from the Dakota DC-3 aircraft that used to frequently land at the former Kallang Airport. This station primarily serves the Old Kallang Airport Estate, and is within walking distance to Mountbatten MRT station.

Hua Giam Si (traditional Chinese: 華嚴禪寺; simplified Chinese: 华严禅寺), is a Buddhist monastery in Singapore. The center was originally set up by Venerable Zhen Ding. The present premises are located at Geylang, Singapore.

The Buddhist Library (Chinese: 佛教图书馆) is the first dedicated Buddhist library in Singapore. The library, which is located in a shophouse in Geylang, aims to meet the needs of the Buddhist community and anyone interested in Buddhism. It is unique in that it is not a voluntary association or a temple and because it takes a non-sectarian approach to Buddhism. Besides functioning as a lending library, it also organises Dhamma talks, accredited Buddhist courses, public art exhibitions and welfare work locally and abroad.

Geylang Road is a major trunk road linking Singapore's eastern suburban areas with the country's central business district. Deriving its name from the area of Geylang where the road cuts through, it is fronted on both sides by low-rise shophouses protected statutorily from urban redevelopment in keeping with its history and urban heritage. The road itself begins at the east where it meets Changi Road at the junction with Geylang Serai and Joo Chiat Road and continues westward until Kallang Road over the Kallang River at Sir Arthur's Bridge. Previously it was the only main thoroughfare linking Changi and Kallang, the former being the location of the Changi Airport while the latter was home to Singapore's first purpose-built civil airport, the Kallang Airport. As traffic mushroomed, Geylang Road was converted into a one-way street, and a parallel road, Sims Avenue, was constructed to the north to cater for traffic in the opposite direction.

Dunman High School (DHS) is a co-educational government autonomous secondary school located in Kallang, Singapore, offering the Integrated Programme and the Special Assistance Plan (SAP). It was originally located in West Kallang. Since adopting the Integrated Programme in 2007, it has produced three President's Scholars. It is also one of the largest government schools in Singapore by physical area.

Kong Hwa School (abbreviation: KHS; Chinese: traditional Chinese: 光華學校; simplified Chinese: 光华学校; pinyin: Guānghuá Xuéxiào), is a co-educational primary school in Singapore. It is one of the six Singapore Hokkien Huay Kuan schools, along with Tao Nan School, Ai Tong School, Chongfu Primary School, Nan Chiau Primary School and Nan Chiau High School. Kong Hwa School has been offering the Bi-Cultural Enrichment Programme (BiCEP) since 2007, which encourages students to be bilingual. The school is currently situated along Guillemard Road.
