Toruń is a city of 209 thousand inhabitants (0,6 million in a two-city agglomeration). The airport in Toruń already possesses a runway of 4100 ft. There is pressure from local politicians to adapt the local airport to serve domestic flights, and, after expanding the landing strip by (version 1–200 meters, version II- 500) meters to over (v.I- 1500 meters, version II-2000 meters), also international flights to this tourist destination; due to its unique gothic-styled city-centre, it is on the UNESCO world heritage list and is one of the favourite Polish tourist destinations.

2023 World Masters Athletics Indoor Championships is the ninth in a series of World Masters Athletics Indoor Championships (also called World Masters Athletics Championships Indoor, or WMACi). This ninth edition took place in Toruń, Poland, from 25 to 31 March 2023. This Championships was originally scheduled for 6-12 April, 2021 in Edmonton, Canada, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was repeatedly postponed, first to 2022, then to 2023, but that was also canceled when Athletics Alberta withdrew its sponsorship in April 2022. The main venue is Arena Toruń, which has a banked six-lane indoor track where the turns are raised to neutralize the centrifugal force of athletes running the curves. Supplemental venues include Municipal Stadium for throws, and Rudelka Park for Cross Country. This Championships is organized by World Masters Athletics (WMA) in coordination with a Local Organising Committee (LOC) headed by Michał Zaleski, Mayor of Toruń, and Wacław Krankowski, President of Polish Masters Athletics. The WMA is the global governing body of the sport of athletics for athletes 35 years of age or older, setting rules for masters athletics competition. A full range of indoor track and field events were held. Since 2019 in addition to indoor disciplines, outdoor stadia events Hammer Throw, Discus Throw and Javelin Throw and non-stadia events Half Marathon, 8K Cross Country, 10K Race Walk are included. New for the Championships was a mixed 4 x 200m relay.

The WMA is the global governing body of the sport of athletics for athletes 35 years of age or older, setting rules for masters athletics competition. A full range of indoor track and field events were held. In addition to indoor competition, non-stadia events included Half Marathon, 8K Cross Country, 10K Race Walk, 10K Road Race, Weight Throw, Hammer Throw, Discus Throw and Javelin Throw.

Arena Toruń is a multi-purpose sports and entertainment arena in Toruń, Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship, Poland. It is home to Twarde Pierniki Toruń of the Polish Basketball League (PLK). It was officially opened on 10 August 2014.

Stadion Miejski im. Grzegorza Duneckiego, Grzegorz Duniecki Municipal Stadium is an athletics-football stadium, with an adjoining sports complex, in the Chełmińskie Przedmieście district of Toruń, Poland. It is currently the home of Elana Toruń football club and Polski Związek Lekkiej Atletyki Masters athletics association. The stadium is equipped with an 8-lane running track lined with a "mondo" turf, as well as facilities for shot put, discus and hammer throw. In addition, there are multi-directional tracks for long jump, high jump, pole vault and javelin throw. These facilities are all IAAF certified.The stadium also has a full-size football pitch licensed by the Polish Football Association. Underneath the grandstand there are changing rooms for the referees and players, as well as a medical room. The stadium has a capacity of 6,000 spectators, of which 4,300 are seated. Next to the stadium there is also a full-size training football pitch with artificial turf and a field hockey pitch. The stadium is located next to the city's other professional sports facilities, Józef Stogowski Tor-Tor ice rink and Arena Toruń.

The Zoo and Botanical Garden in Toruń (Polish: Ogród Zoobotaniczny w Toruniu) is a zoological and botanical garden located in Toruń, Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship, Poland. The botanical garden was established in 1797, which makes it one of the oldest such gardens in Poland. In 1965, the botanical garden was merged with a newly opened zoo. Since 2007, it has been a member of the European Association of Zoos and Aquaria (EAZA).

Piaski (Polish pronunciation: [ˈpjaskʲi]) is a district of Toruń, Poland, located in the southern part of the city, within its part located in the historic region of Kuyavia. In 1934 Piaski was included within the town limits of Podgórz, which in turn was included within the city limits of Toruń in 1938.
