Bukit Ho Swee

Tiong Bahru Plaza (Simplified Chinese: 中峇鲁广场) is a shopping mall located in Tiong Bahru Estate, in Bukit Merah, Singapore, near Tiong Bahru Road, Jalan Membina and Bukit Ho Swee Crescent, which is where the entrance to the mall is located. It consists of a 20-storey office tower block (Central Plaza), and a 6-storey shopping and entertainment complex, with 3 basement carparks. The mall is also directly linked to Tiong Bahru MRT Station of the East West Line, which is easily accessible from Exit B of the station. The suburban mall has a total of 167 shops spread around 6 floors. The mall has most of the essential shops and provides most of the services and products needed by the people in the area. It has recently been upgraded and the renovations have made the mall better.

The Bukit Ho Swee fire was a conflagration that broke out in the squatter settlement of Bukit Ho Swee, Singapore on 25 May 1961. This fire resulted in 4 deaths and injured another 54. It also destroyed more than 2,800 houses around the Bukit Ho Swee area, leaving around 16,000 people homeless. The cause of this conflagration was never established. The Bukit Ho Swee fire was the biggest outbreak of fire in Singapore's history.The fire was a pivotal point in Singapore's contemporary history. The scale of the destruction sparked an emergency project to swiftly construct accommodation and resettle the people affected by the disaster. This first public housing project, led by the newly formed Housing and Development Board, would eventually lead the way to the development of public housing throughout the country in decades to come.

Tiong Bahru MRT station is an underground Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) station on the East West line in Bukit Merah, Singapore. This is the first and last underground station for eastbound and westbound trains respectively. Directly connected to Tiong Bahru Plaza, this station serves the residential precincts of Tiong Bahru and Bukit Ho Swee.

The Tiong Bahru bus hijacking occurred on 29 November 1979 in Singapore. Two armed men, in an attempt to escape arrest for an earlier robbery, took hostages and then hijacked a bus, while exchanging gunfire with police. The incident ended when one of the men was wounded then committed suicide, and the other surrendered to the authorities.

Tiong Bahru Park is a public park between Henderson, Bukit Merah and Lower Delta Road in Singapore. First developed around 1967, it combined with a nursery site in 1977 and in 2000, it was redeveloped to give it an image which suited the theme of 'Old frame, New images'.The 3.3-hectare park today is able to meet the recreational needs of different groups of park users and is of a livelier atmosphere. Many children have great enjoyment with the tilting train in the adventure playground and the 2 zip-lines that have been newly added. With more trees and palms planted, the environment of the park is enhanced with more shades and greenery. Visitors can also carry out their exercises and workouts and even foot reflexology here.

Tiong Bahru Secondary School (TBSS, 立道中学), established in 1966 and merged with Delta Secondary School in 1991, was one of the first bilingual integrated (混合中学) secondary schools built after Singapore Independence (August 9, 1965). It had both Chinese and English streams, attracting students from nearby primary schools in Tiong Bahru, Bukit Ho Swee and Delta Road areas.

The Kampong Delta Mosque commonly known as Masjid Kampong Delta is located in the Tiong Bahru neighbourhood of the Central Region, Singapore. The mosque was built in 1975 to replace a previous surau (Muslim prayer house) that stood in the same place and has been expanded into a two-storey structure ever since. It is one of Singapore's smallest mosques, alongside the Surau Al Firdaus.

Gan Eng Seng School (GESS) is a co-educational government secondary school in Bukit Merah, Singapore. Founded in 1885 by philanthropist Gan Eng Seng, the school is the first school established by the overseas Chinese community in Singapore and is one of the oldest schools in the country. GESS was a boys' school for 102 years before it became co-educational in 1987. The school was also the first in Singapore to form a parent-teachers' association in 1950. Currently, GESS is recognised among the top 50 schools in Singapore by the Ministry of Education. The school's founding site at Telok Ayer Street was designated as a national historical site by the National Heritage Board in 1997.

Saint Matthew's Church (simplified Chinese: 圣公会新加坡教区圣马太堂; traditional Chinese: 聖公會新加坡教區聖馬太堂) is a parish of the Anglican Diocese of Singapore. Of the 26 Anglican parishes in Singapore, the St Matthew's Church Chinese congregation has the longest history among all the congregations.

The Boys' Brigade in Singapore is a youth uniformed group organisation and part of the global Boys' Brigade movement which has been present in Singapore since 1930. It currently consists of over 700 officers and 6,300 Boys in over 116 companies. Its current Brigade President is Poh Leong Berg and its Honorary President is Lieutenant-General (Ret) Winston Choo, the former Chief of Defence Force of the Singapore Armed Forces. The Boys' Brigade in Singapore celebrated its 90th Anniversary in 2020 and has the distinguished honour of having the President of Singapore as its Patron.
