Buckhorn Lake is a private lake in Harris County in the state of Texas, United States. The lake is approximately 60 acres (24 ha) filled with cypress trees and was created by an underwater creek and spring. It is well stocked for fishing.

The local understanding of the area is that it corresponds to that of boundary of the Sheldon Independent School District.Residential and commercial development in Sheldon has increased since the 2000s, gradually transforming the once rural area into one of the Houston area's fast growing suburban communities by percentage.The population for the area within the CDP was 2,361 at the 2020 census. Sheldon Lake State Park and Environmental Learning Center is a 2,800-acre outdoor education and recreation facility in northeast Harris County managed by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. The site is located along Sheldon Lake reservoir. The federal government constructed the reservoir on Carpenter's Bayou in 1942 in order to support growing war-related industries along the Houston Ship Channel. The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department acquired the reservoir in 1952, opening it in 1955 as the Sheldon Wildlife Management Area. The site was designated a state park in 1984.

In 1984, the land around the reservoir was designated the Sheldon State Wildlife Management Area.

Crosby High School is a public high school in Crosby, a community in unincorporated Harris County, Texas. Approximately 1,600 students are enrolled in grades 9 through 12. Crosby High School is located off FM 2100, approximately 35 miles northeast of Downtown Houston. It serves the Crosby Independent School District. Crosby ISD built a new high school campus that opened fall of 2016. Current administration includes Principal Terry Perkins. The school serves the census-designated places of Crosby and Barrett.

Harmaston is a place in unincorporated northeastern Harris County, Texas, United States, that was formerly a distinct community.Harmaston, located at the southwestern corner of Lake Houston, was developed along the timber shipping railroad line Beaumont, Sour Lake and Western Railway. Lumbermen from several companies, such as the Texas Longleaf Company, lived in a boarding house in Harmaston. By the 1980s, the remaining component of the community was an abandoned railway station.

It serves several areas, including Summerwood and Fall Creek, the two neighborhoods that the school get its name from.Built to relieve the overcrowded Atascocita HS and Humble HS, SCHS is approximately 435,000 square feet (40,400 m2) and is a comprehensive, ninth through twelfth grade high school for 3,200 students; The campus has athletic facilities and playing fields, an auditorium, a natatorium, a career and vocational education facilities, a food court and a learning resource center. There is also parking for students, staff, and visitors. SCHS is located at 14000 Weckford Boulevard, near the intersection of Beltway 8 and West Lake Houston Parkway.

Barrett, also named Barrett Station, is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Harris County, Texas, United States. The population was 5,223 at the 2020 census. It was founded in 1889 by Harrison Barrett, a former slave.

Atascocita High School is a secondary school located in Atascocita CDP, a community housed in unincorporated Harris County, Texas, United States. AHS is a part of Humble Independent School District and serves the eastern part of the district and small portions of the city of Houston. AHS opened in August 2006, becoming the district's third traditional high school, and the first opened since 1979. Since its opening, it has been the district's largest high school in terms of enrollment. Its school colors are red, white, and blue, and its mascot is the eagle.

C.E. King High School is a secondary school located in unincorporated Harris County, Texas, United States and serves grades 9 through 12. It is the only high school in the Sheldon Independent School District. The school serves unincorporated areas of northeast Harris County including the Sheldon CDP and several nearby communities (Beaumont Place, Houmont Park) and subdivisions. As of 2013, C.E. King High School is rated "Met Standard" by the Texas Education Agency.
