Pam Lychner State Jail is a Texas Department of Criminal Justice state jail for men located in Atascocita, unincorporated northeast Harris County, Texas, United States, east of Humble. It is 20 miles northeast of Downtown Houston.In July 1995, the jail, initially the Atascocita State Jail, opened. After Pam Lychner, a victim's rights activist, died on board TWA Flight 800 with her daughters on July 17, 1996, the TDCJ board unanimously voted to rename the facility to Pam Lychner State Jail.The Pam Lychner State Jail, along with the Joe Kegans State Jail, serves state jail offenders from Harris County. Lychner and Kegans have the same wardens and management. As of 2001 Lychner serves higher risk and special needs offenders. By classification the unit has low risk, medium risk, high risk, and security risk offenders.A statue of Lychner and her daughters is located outside of the state jail grounds.

The Golf Club of Houston is a private golf club in unincorporated Harris County, Texas, near Humble and northeast of Houston. The club contains two 18-hole courses; the Member Course is private, while the Tournament Course is open to the public. The Tournament Course was designed by Rees Jones and tour pro David Toms. The club hosted the Houston Open from 2003–2019.

The Texas Children's Houston Open is a professional golf tournament in Texas on the PGA Tour, played in November. As a part of a restructuring of the schedule, the event moved to the fall in 2019. Because the tour year starts the previous fall, the event was not a part of the 2019 PGA Tour, but was one of the first events of the 2020 PGA Tour. It is held at the Memorial Park Municipal Golf Course in Harris County near downtown Houston and the Galleria.

Dyersdale is an Unincorporated community in Harris County, Texas, United States. The name originates from Clement C. Dyer, one of the "Old Three Hundred" of Stephen F. Austin's colonists.A post office opened in 1913. In 1914 the community, with 250 residents, had a lumber company. The post office closed in 1917. An oilfield opened in the mid-1930s. In 1936 the community had scattered residences and a school. By 1946 the oilfield was still in production. In the 1980s Dyersdale had an abandoned railroad station, a church, and a trailer park.

Atascocita High School is a secondary school located in Atascocita CDP, a community housed in unincorporated Harris County, Texas, United States. AHS is a part of Humble Independent School District and serves the eastern part of the district and small portions of the city of Houston. AHS opened in August 2006, becoming the district's third traditional high school, and the first opened since 1979. Since its opening, it has been the district's largest high school in terms of enrollment. Its school colors are red, white, and blue, and its mascot is the eagle.

Sheldon Lake State Park and Environmental Learning Center is a 2,800-acre outdoor education and recreation facility in northeast Harris County managed by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. The site is located along Sheldon Lake reservoir. The federal government constructed the reservoir on Carpenter's Bayou in 1942 in order to support growing war-related industries along the Houston Ship Channel. The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department acquired the reservoir in 1952, opening it in 1955 as the Sheldon Wildlife Management Area. The site was designated a state park in 1984.

Sheldon Lake is a reservoir on Carpenters Bayou in the San Jacinto River basin, 16 miles (26 km) northeast of downtown Houston, Texas. The reservoir was created in 1943 when the federal government built a dam to provide fresh water for shipbuilding and shipping industries on the Houston Ship Channel during World War II. After the war, the management of the reservoir was assumed by the City of Houston. In 1952, after the construction of the dam that creates Lake Houston, the city sold the reservoir to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department for use as a waterfowl sanctuary and public fishing site. In 1984, the land around the reservoir was designated the Sheldon State Wildlife Management Area.

Guy M. Sconzo Early College High School is a small secondary school in unincorporated Harris County, Texas, near the city of Humble. It is a part of the Humble Independent School District and is an Early College High School. Students can earn an associate degree or hours of college credit toward a bachelor's degree through Lone Star College-Kingwood along with a high school diploma.

Lake Houston is a reservoir on the San Jacinto River, 15 miles (24 km) northeast of downtown Houston, Texas, United States. The reservoir is the primary municipal water supply for the city of Houston.

Humble High School (HHS) is a secondary school in the Humble Independent School District in Humble, Texas, United States. It serves grades 9 through 12 for the city of Humble, the Moonshine Hill area of Houston, and unincorporated communities north of Beltway 8. The campus serves the entire Humble area and the western part of Atascocita. In 2016, a portion of the upstairs main building was refurbished for the rezoning of Quest Early College High School (QECHS) completely independent from HHS.

Harmaston is a place in unincorporated northeastern Harris County, Texas, United States, that was formerly a distinct community.Harmaston, located at the southwestern corner of Lake Houston, was developed along the timber shipping railroad line Beaumont, Sour Lake and Western Railway. Lumbermen from several companies, such as the Texas Longleaf Company, lived in a boarding house in Harmaston. By the 1980s, the remaining component of the community was an abandoned railway station.

Atascocita is a census-designated place (CDP) in Harris County, Texas, United States, within the Houston metropolitan area. As of the 2020 census it had a population of 88,174. It is located north and south of Farm to Market Road 1960 about 6 miles (10 km) east of Humble and 18 miles (29 km) northeast of downtown Houston in northeastern Harris County.
