Austal USA is an American shipbuilder based on Blakeley Island in Mobile, Alabama. It is a subsidiary of the Australian shipbuilder Austal, operating under a Special Security Arrangement which allows it to work independently and separately on some of the most sensitive United States defense programs despite its foreign ownership.Austal USA was formed in 1999 when Austal formed a 70:30 joint venture with Bender Shipbuilding & Repair Co to build ferries. Austal bought out its partner in September 2006.Notable projects for the shipbuilder include the United States Navy's Independence class littoral combat ship (first launched in 2008) Spearhead class expeditionary fast transport (first launched in 2010), and United States Coast Guard's Heritage-class cutter (contract awarded in 2022).

Mobile station was a train station in Mobile, Alabama. It was built in 1956 and demolished in 2007.

GulfQuest/National Maritime Museum of the Gulf of Mexico opened on September 26, 2015, is a non-profit interactive maritime museum dedicated to the maritime heritage and culture of the Gulf of Mexico. The 120,000 square foot museum, located on the riverfront in downtown Mobile, Alabama, is designed to look as if it were a ship headed into Mobile Bay and the Gulf of Mexico. The museum features 90 interactive exhibits, simulators, theaters and artifact displays, complemented by artifacts and memorabilia displayed throughout "multiple decks" inside a full-sized replica of a container ship, displayed as if dockside. GulfQuest also features a museum store, a museum café and several event spaces. Named "Attraction of the Year" for 2016 by the Alabama Department of Tourism, GulfQuest is the only fully interactive maritime museum in the world and the only maritime museum dedicated to the Gulf of Mexico. GulfQuest presents the history, culture, marine science and maritime traditions of the Gulf of Mexico region for visitors of all ages.

The Renaissance Riverview Plaza Hotel, formerly known as the Adam's Mark Hotel, is a high-rise hotel in the U.S. city of Mobile, Alabama. Completed in 1983, the building rises 277 feet (84 m) and 28 stories. The Renaissance Riverview Plaza Hotel is the second-tallest building and largest hotel in Mobile and the tallest hotel in the state of Alabama. Upon its completion, the 374-foot (114 m) and 277-unit Stouffer's Hotel (later Adam's Mark Hotel) became the second-tallest hotel in Mobile, after the 325-foot (99 m) Mobile Marriott, and the third-tallest building in the city. The building later fell to fourth-tallest upon the 1994 completion of the 325-foot (99 m) City-County Administration Building. The building underwent a $5 million renovation (USD) in 2002, and in 2008 a large spire was constructed over the existing structure. The spire was designed to complement the spire of the RSA Battle House Tower; in shape and design, the two structures are nearly identical. With the addition of the spire, the Renaissance Riverview Plaza Hotel reached a new height of 374 feet (114 m), allowing it to surpass the Mobile Marriott and City-County Administration Building to become the third-tallest building in the city and the tallest hotel in the state.

The RSA Battle House Tower is located in Mobile, Alabama and is Alabama's tallest building. The building is owned by the Retirement Systems of Alabama (RSA). It is the tallest on the Gulf Coast of the United States outside Houston. It replaces the Shipt Tower in Birmingham as the tallest building in Alabama and the RSA–BankTrust Building as the tallest in Mobile. The building is named for the neighboring Battle House Hotel, which is now part of the tower complex. The Battle House Hotel was restored and renovated as part of the tower project.

The Brisk & Jacobson Store is a historic Italianate-style commercial building in Mobile, Alabama. It was placed on the National Register of Historic Places on March 14, 1973.

The Coley Building was a historic two-story commercial building in Mobile, Alabama, United States. It began as a one-story Federal style masonry structure in 1836. It was the last 19th century building to survive on its city block. The block, situated between the streets of St. Francis, Royal, Water, and St. Michael, was a center for many of Mobile's brokerage firms prior to the American Civil War. The building was seized by the Confederate government during the war from a suspected Union collaborator. It was enlarged and remodeled in the 1870s, with the addition of a second floor and the application of a Beaux-Arts-influenced cast iron facade.The building was placed on the National Register of Historic Places on October 22, 1982. It was demolished in 2003 to make way for a parking deck to serve the RSA Battle House Tower, located across the street. The cast iron architectural details were saved by Retirement Systems of Alabama (RSA) and later restored by Robinson Iron of Alexander City, Alabama. The front facade of the building was then rebuilt and grafted onto the modern parking garage in 2006.

Old City Hall, also known as the Southern Market, is a historic complex of adjoining buildings in Mobile, Alabama, that currently houses the History Museum of Mobile. The complex was built from 1855 to 1857 to serve as a city hall and as a marketplace. It was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1973, as a rare well-preserved example of a 19th-century multifunction civic and commercial building.

A statue of the Confederate naval officer Raphael Semmes was displayed in Mobile, Alabama, since June 1900. It was removed on 5 June 2020 during the George Floyd protests, and was Relocated to the History Museum of Mobile.The city's mayor, Sandy Stimpson, stated that "Moving this statue will not change the past. It is about removing a potential distraction so we may focus clearly on the future of our city". Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall subsequently threatened to prosecute the city, levying a $25,000 fine for removing the statue, if the removal becomes permanent.

The Gulf Coast Exploreum Science Center (now known simply as Exploreum Science Center) is a non-profit science center that promotes science learning through a variety of activities, including exhibits, Digital Dome movies, demonstrations, workshops and teacher professional development. Located in downtown Mobile, Alabama, Exploreum has several permanent galleries including Hands On Hall, the Wharf of Wonder, Curiosity Factory, and My BodyWorks - a health exhibit. The Exploreum also features interactive traveling exhibits, year-round with broad science content and supplementary, themed educational programming.

The Battle House Renaissance Mobile Hotel & Spa, is a historic hotel in Mobile, Alabama. The current structure was built in 1908 as the Battle House Hotel. It is the second hotel by that name to stand in this location, replacing an earlier Battle House built in 1852, which burned down in 1905. It is one of the earliest steel frame structures in Alabama.

The First National Bank is a historic bank building in Mobile, Alabama. It was built in 1905 to the designs of local architectural firm Watkins, Hutchisson, and Garvin. The two-story masonry structure is in the Classical Revival style and features a brick and terracotta facade. It was placed on the National Register of Historic Places on November 17, 1978.
