Maidstone Hospital

Oakwood Hospital in Barming Heath near Maidstone, England was a psychiatric hospital founded in 1833 as the Kent County Lunatic Asylum. Following transfer of services to Maidstone Hospital, Oakwood closed in 1994 and was then developed as a residential estate known as St Andrew's Park.

It is 37 miles 43 chains (60.4 km) down the line from London Victoria. The station and all trains serving it are operated by Southeastern.

St Simon Stock Catholic School is a mixed secondary school and sixth form with academy status, located in Maidstone, Kent, England. It was founded in 1967 and is the only Roman Catholic secondary school in the area. It was named after the Carmelite St. Simon Stock, who was believed to be born in Aylesford and is linked to the nearby Aylesford Priory and St Francis' Church, Maidstone.

The Kent Institute of Art & Design (KIAD, often ) was an art school based across three campuses in the county of Kent, in the United Kingdom. It was formed by the amalgamation of three independent colleges: Canterbury College of Art, Maidstone College of Art and Rochester (Medway) College of Art. In turn KIAD merged with the Surrey Institute of Art & Design, University College on 1 August 2005 to form the University College for the Creative Arts at Canterbury, Epsom, Farnham, Maidstone and Rochester. In 2008, this gained full university status and became the University for the Creative Arts. KIAD offered further education, higher education, postgraduate and part-time courses at three campuses, in Canterbury, Maidstone and Rochester.

St Augustine Academy is a coeducational secondary school with academy status, located in Maidstone, Kent. It is the only Church of England secondary school in the area. The Principal is Steffan Ball. The academy moved into its new premises, located adjacent to its existing premises in the Oakwood Park complex, on completion of the first phase of a major building programme in April 2014, with the final phase completed in October 2014. The Academy's 2012/13 results place it in the top 10% of schools nationally with regard to student progress.

Oakwood Park Grammar School is a boys grammar school with academy status located in Maidstone, United Kingdom, the school is co-educational in the sixth form (years 12 and 13). The school takes boys at the age of 11 and over by examination (11-plus) and boys and girls at 16+ on their GCSE results. The current headteacher is Kevin Moody. The school is popularly known by its initials OPGS, Oakwood or Oakwood Park

Barming is a civil parish in the Maidstone District of Kent, England. It lies to the west of Maidstone and at the 2011 census had a population of 2,690. The eastern end of the parish is part of the built-up area of Maidstone, although the remainder is much more rural. The River Medway forms its southern boundary. Barming is mentioned in the Domesday Book, and was then described as being divided into East and West; the latter being known as Little Barming, and having its own church until the 16th century. Barming Primary School dates back to 1854 but is no longer located on its original site. The area has undergone increased residential development in recent years due to its proximity to both Maidstone Hospital and the Maidstone East rail line to central London. The area has also suffered from significant disruption caused by sinkholes in the late 2010s, including the closure of the A26 road in the summer of 2018 as the road was repaired.

East Farleigh railway station is on the Medway Valley Line in Kent, England, located to the south-west of Maidstone and close to the village of East Farleigh, on the opposite (south) bank of the River Medway, though the station is actually located in Barming parish. It is 42 miles 75 chains (69.1 km) down the line from London Charing Cross via Paddock Wood. The station and all trains that serve the station are operated by Southeastern. East Farleigh station is about 50 yards from the medieval East Farleigh Bridge taking foot and road passengers across the river, one of only four such bridges between Maidstone and Tonbridge. The station has two platforms, staggered to either side of a level crossing. On the southbound platform is a signal box which remains to control the level crossing. The old ticket office, located in a wooden building on the southbound platform, closed in 1989; this was APTIS-equipped from 1987 until closure. This building then remained disused for many years though in good condition. In 2007, a PERTIS permit to travel ticket machine was installed at the entrance to the southbound platform, which is behind the signal box. Facilities on the northbound platform are limited to a waiting shelter. A footbridge spans the tracks and is accessed from the northbound platform.

East Farleigh Bridge is a road bridge across the River Medway in East Farleigh, Kent, England. The bridge is medieval and was probably constructed in the 14th century. It comprises four arches, spanning the river and a smaller, later arch spanning the north bank. A long retaining wall carrying the road over the low-lying meadow to the south of the river has a blind arch on one side. The bridge is a Grade I listed building and a scheduled ancient monument.It is built of coursed rag-stone with ashlar capping stones to the parapets. The bridge is narrow, only wide enough to permit traffic to pass in one direction at a time. The bridge features substantial cutwaters on each side. It has been described as "probably the finest medieval bridge in the south of England".

East Malling is a civil parish in Kent which includes the villages of East Malling and Larkfield.

The Allington Quarry Waste Management Facility is an integrated waste management centre in Allington, Kent. It is the site of the Allington Energy from Waste (EfW) Incinerator. The incinerator is owned by FCC Environment as Kent Enviropower. The facility, which has involved an investment of over £150 Million, is able to process 500,000 tonnes per annum of waste and has the ability to produce 40MW of power. The facility takes non-hazardous waste from households and businesses in Kent and the surrounding area for recycling and energy recovery. Materials separated by householders are sorted and sent for recycling, with the remainder being used to generate electricity to power the facility and for the local supply network. Built in a former ragstone quarry, the site includes one 80 metres (260 ft) high chimney, and covers an area of 84 acres (34 ha), of which 67 acres (27 ha) will eventually become parkland, and permanently employs around 100 people.Under a 25-year contract with Kent County Council, Over 325,000 tonnes of municipal waste, from Maidstone, Sevenoaks, Tunbridge Wells, Tonbridge and Malling, Dartford, Gravesham and Swale councils will be processed each year. The centre is a major waste facility and will contribute to Kent meeting its LATS obligations for the diversion of waste from landfill. The incinerator employs fluidized bed incineration technology and has been in commercial operation since December 2008.

Allington Quarry is a 0.8-hectare (2.0-acre) geological Site of Special Scientific Interest north of Maidstone in Kent. It is a Geological Conservation Review site.This Pleistocene site has an extensive section through gulls (cracks in the rock) which are filled with loess. These were probably produced by seasonal freezing and thawing during the last ice age.The site is private land with no public access.
