Lowry Hill East is a neighborhood in southwest Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States, part of the Calhoun Isles community. Lowry Hill East developed in the 1880s along a horse-drawn streetcar line built by Thomas Lowry. The interior of the neighborhood is residential, with large early 20th century homes and multi-unit apartment buildings, while the border streets are lined with bars, restaurants, grocery stores, coffeeshops, and other small businesses. Most housing is renter-occupied. It is bounded on the east by Lyndale Avenue, on the west by Hennepin Avenue and on the south by Lake Street. Lyndale and Hennepin intersect on the northern side at Interstate 94. This creates a neighborhood roughly triangular in shape, which is how it gets its nickname, "the Wedge." It is part of a larger area south of Franklin Avenue and west of Nicollet Avenue that is often considered Uptown, although officially Uptown is a smaller area centered on the intersection of Hennepin and Lake. In 2020, the population of the neighborhood was 9,298. The neighborhood was 67.9% White, 14.0% Black or African American, 8.4% Asian or Pacific Islander, 5.1% Hispanic or Latino of any race and 3.1% two or more races,. It had a much higher percentage of single residents than other neighborhoods in Minneapolis, a higher percentage of renters, and a lower percentage of families with children. The median household income was $57,802.Lowry Hill East is bordered by Loring Park and Stevens Square to the northeast, Whittier to the east, Lyndale to the southeast, South Uptown to the south, East Bde Maka Ska to the southwest, East Isles to the west, and Lowry Hill to the northwest.

The Gluek House is a historic Colonial Revival house in Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States. The house was built by John and Minnie Gluek. John was the son of the founder of the Gluek Brewing Company, a regional brewery in the Minneapolis area. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on February 9, 1990. Architectural historian Paul Larson, who wrote the National Register nomination, cited it as a fine example of Victorian architecture with its Georgian Revival detail and ornamentation. The two-story carriage house in back is even more distinctive, with quarters for horses as well as storage for the hay that fed them. Larson said the carriage house "has to have the fanciest hay storage doors in the Twin Cities." Many of the details inside the house are still intact, including the original icebox.The house has recently been purchased by new owners, who plan to modernize the house while keeping its historical character.

The Midtown Greenway is a 5.7-mile (9.2 km) rail trail in Minneapolis, Minnesota that follows the path of an abandoned route of the Milwaukee Road railway. It is considered under segregated cycle facilities. Used both recreationally and for commuting, the partially below-grade Greenway runs east–west about one block north of Lake Street. It provides cyclists, inline skaters, runners and pedestrians an almost automobile-free route across the city.

The Wedge Community Co-op or The Wedge is a food cooperative located in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Located at 2105 Lyndale Avenue South, the Wedge derives its name from the popular nickname for the Lowry Hill East neighborhood, called "The Wedge" due to its shape. The Wedge is a member of the NCBA and the NCGA.

Bryant-Lake Bowl, locally nicknamed BLB, is a bowling alley, restaurant, bar, and 90-seat theatre in the Uptown neighborhood of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Best known for its evening entertainment and Cheap Date Night specials (two meals, drinks, and a round of bowling for $28) BLB is also a reliable brunch stop. The theatre is a venue for cabaret and wide variety of other stage productions. It is a host of the annual Minnesota Fringe Festival. Originally a garage, the building was converted into a bowling alley in 1936. In 1959, Minnesota bowling champion Bill Drouches bought the bowling alley. Kim Bartmann bought the business in 1993, restoring the building, opening a restaurant, and converting the game room into a 90-seat theatre. In 2018, Bryant-Lake Bowl was sold by Bartmann to longtime employee Erica Gilbert.In 2004, Bryant-Lake Bowl hosted the signing ceremony for a city ordinance making Minneapolis restaurants and bars free of tobacco smoke.Bryant-Lake Bowl was featured in a 2008 episode of Food Network's Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, hosted by Guy Fieri.In 2021, Bryant-Lake Bowl released an 87 second promotional video called Right Up Our Alley, made in one continuous shot by drone operator Jay Christensen, which went viral and garnered praise from several critics.

The Minneapolis Arena was an indoor ice rink in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA, that hosted the various Minneapolis Millers teams from 1925 until 1963 and the Minneapolis Bruins of the Central Hockey League from 1963 until 1965. It held 5,500 people and was located at 2900 Dupont Avenue South in the Uptown district of Minneapolis. The University of Minnesota's Golden Gophers ice hockey team used the arena as one of its primary home rinks from 1925 until 1950. The annual shows of the Shipstads and Johnson Ice Follies were held at the venue from 1936 until 1966. Lyle Wright was an events promoter and one of the presidents of the arena, and was later inducted into the United States Hockey Hall of Fame.

Lyn-Lake is a commercial district in south Minneapolis. At the core is the intersection of Lake Street and Lyndale Avenue from which Lyn-Lake takes its name. This is also at the intersection of four Minneapolis neighborhoods: Whittier on the northeast, Lyndale on the southeast, South Uptown on the southwest, and Lowry Hill East on the northwest. Most residents who consider themselves part of the "Lyn-Lake neighborhood" originate from the southeast corner of the Lyndale neighborhood. Lyn-Lake was branded by the Lyn-Lake Business Association in 1999.Locally, Lyn-Lake is mostly known as being just east of the Uptown district of Minneapolis and previously considered an extension of Uptown. One of the oldest anchors was the It's Greek to Me restaurant on the northeast corner. The district contains ethnic restaurants, LGBT establishments, and niche retail. North of Lyn-Lake is the Midtown Greenway bicycle and pedestrian path. Regional access by car is through I-35W from the east and I-94 from the north. Open Streets Minneapolis and the Lyn Lake Street Festival are the signature events for the area and draw over 20,000 from the local community annually.

Area code 612 is a telephone area code in the North American Numbering Plan (NANP) in the U.S. state of Minnesota. The numbering plan area comprises the city of Minneapolis and a few surrounding municipalities such as Fort Snelling, St. Anthony, and Richfield. Geographically, it is the smallest area code in the state of Minnesota. The area code is one of the two original area codes in the 1947 nationwide numbering plan for the state, when it was assigned to a much larger area, including the entire Twin Cities region and a wide area surrounding it.

The Buzza Company Building in Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States, is a building listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2012. The building was originally built in 1907 for the Self-Threading Needle Company. It was built by the Brayton Engineering Company at a cost of $55,000. In 1923 the Buzza Company, a maker of greeting cards, acquired the building. George Buzza remarked, "No sooner had we acquired our new building than we promptly outgrew it." The company built a $200,000 addition along Colfax Avenue, designed by local architects Magney & Tusler. They later built another addition, a five-story structure with a tower saying "BUZZA", at a cost of $150,000. The building was used as Buzza's greeting card design studio from 1923 through 1942, at which point declining sales forced the liquidation of the firm. It was then used by Minneapolis-Honeywell Regulator Company for World War II production.

Temple Israel is a Reform Jewish synagogue in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Founded in 1878, it is the oldest synagogue in Minneapolis and one of the largest Jewish congregations in the United States.

The Elisha and Lizzie Morse Jr. House is a house in the Whittier neighborhood of Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States, listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The house is designed in the Italian Villa style. Its most distinctive feature is the cupola with shallow arches over paired windows. The siding is also a unique design. The planks were made to look like cut stone by cutting incisions at regular intervals, then painting the siding with a mixture of paint and sand. This technique was rarely practiced in Minnesota architecture, and there are few surviving buildings with this treatment.The house was originally located at 2402 4th Avenue South and was built for grocer Elisha Morse, Jr. and his family as a country home. It was moved to its present location in 1991. Its previous location was radically altered around 1966 during the construction of Interstate 35W, so its current location is more like the original neighborhood on 4th Avenue South.

The Scottish Rite Temple, formerly the Fowler Methodist Episcopal Church, is a historic church building in the Lowry Hill neighborhood of Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States. It was designed by architects Warren H. Hayes and Harry Wild Jones. The original portion, the rear chapel, was designed by Warren H. Hayes and built in 1894. When the congregation expanded and more funds were available, Harry Wild Jones designed an addition that expanded it to a much larger structure. This was completed in 1906.The Fowler congregation merged with the Hennepin Avenue Methodist Church in 1915, and the Scottish Rite Temple bought the building the next year. They made some modifications to the auditorium to accommodate Masonic rituals, but most of the original features were kept, including extensive use of stained glass. The exterior is built of hard quartzite from southwestern Minnesota, along with red sandstone trim. It has two massive towers, three arches over the entry porch, and a 24-foot-diameter (7.3 m) rose window. The church was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976.
