Sunset Acres, Nova Scotia

Cherry Brook rural community located to the north of Trunk 7 between Lake Loon and Lake Major, and just a few kilometres east of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. It has a significant African Nova Scotian population. Cherry Brook is a rural community with a few small farms. Most of the people work at trades in the Halifax Regional Municipality communities of Dartmouth and Halifax. The Baptist Church is the glue that keeps residents together. On Trunk 7 is located the Black Cultural Centre which contains meeting rooms and facilities to meet community needs for meetings and other events. It is a showplace for historical documents and other collections that tell the story of the early development of the Prestons and the many Black families who live in Black communities throughout Nova Scotia. In 1970 the community had an almost exclusively Black population of 700, though it is much smaller today.Cherry Brook is also the home of Canadian Idol season one runner up, Gary Beals.

Auburn Drive High School (ADHS) is a Canadian public high school located in the Sunset Acres neighbourhood of Westphal, Nova Scotia. It serves students from grades 10 to 12. Auburn's feeder schools include Astral Drive Junior High School and Graham Creighton Junior High School. Its elementary feeder schools are Astral Drive Elementary School, Colby Village Elementary School, Caldwell Road Elementary, Joseph Giles Elementary, Humber Park Elementary and Bell Park Academic Centre. In 2011, Auburn ranked 4th with a grade of B+ on the AIMS list.

Lake Loon is a suburban and rural community of the Halifax Regional Municipality in the Canadian province of Nova Scotia. It is named after a nearby lake. The community was created by the Halifax Regional Municipality by the Civic Address office in April 2011 taking a portion of the nearby community of Westphal.

The Black Cultural Centre for Nova Scotia is located in Cherry Brook, Nova Scotia, in the Halifax Regional Municipality. The centre is a museum and a library resource centre that focuses on the history and culture of African Nova Scotians. The organization of the Black Cultural Society was incorporated as a charitable organization in 1977 and the centre opened its doors in 1983, with a goal to educate and inspire and to protect, preserve and promote Black culture in Nova Scotia. The centre is located on Trunk 7 at 1149 Main Street. The centre holds many events on a weekly basis and is open to the public. The centre also has a permanent display about the former community of Africville.

Harbourview is a 15 ha (37 acres) neighbourhood in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. Located in central Dartmouth, it abuts the HRM Capital District and overlooks Halifax Harbour. The community is dominated by the Angus L. Macdonald Bridge, completed in 1955. Major employers in Harbourview include the Harbourview Holiday Inn, Dartmouth Shopping Centre and the Defence Research and Development Canada (Atlantic).

Cole Harbour is a former village and current community located in Nova Scotia, Canada that is part of the Halifax Regional Municipality.

CJLU-FM (93.9 MHz) is a Canadian radio station, licensed to Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, and serving the Halifax Regional Municipality. CJLU has a repeater station in Wolfville at 88.3 FM with the call sign CJLU-FM-1. The stations are owned by the International Harvesters for Christ Evangelistic Association Inc. They broadcast Contemporary Christian music part of the day with Christian talk and teaching programs heard at other times. Some religious leaders heard on CJLU-FM include David Jeremiah, Charles Stanley, John MacArthur and Jim Daly. The station received CRTC approval in 2004 and launched in 2005. CJLU also has a sister station in Moncton, New Brunswick, 105.1 CITA. On May 21, 2008, CJLU received approval to add a transmitter at Wolfville, Nova Scotia, to simulcast programming on CJLU-FM.
