L'Istituto Statale della Ss. Annunziata (English: The Ss. Annunziata Boarding School) was the first female boarding school in Florence, founded for the daughters of Marquis Gino Capponi. The Institute was created in 1823, to educate aristocratic and noble girls, under the patronage of Maria Anna of Saxony and Leopold II, Grand Duke of Tuscany. The original building was in the via della Scala, Florence. In 1865 it moved to the Villa del Poggio Imperiale overlooking Florence where it remains in situ today. The school has a Brother establishment in Prato, Collegio Cicognini where cultural figures Curzio Malaparte and D'Annunzio attended. The school is subdivided into a mixed Elementary, Middle, and Upper School. The Elementary school is an Italian-German school, teaching children in Italian, German and English. The Middle school teaches children predominantly in Italian and English, with the introduction of Latin and the option of Ancient Greek. The Upper School, which is five years, is subdivided into Scientific, Linguistic, and European Classic schools. Students start at 14 years old. The Linguists, focusses on German, Italian and English as well as the core subjects. Whilst the Scientific, promotes the sciences; Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Geology, Philosophy, History. Whereas the European Classic, orientated towards Law, Economics, Italian, German, Ancient Greek and Latin. The boarding is still private but follows the more demanding state curriculum. As rooms are limited within the Medici house boarding is reserved for only for approximately 80 girls. Girls come predominantly from all over Italy but nevertheless, there are few international students. Girls are called "Poggioline".

The Arcetri Observatory (Italian: Osservatorio Astrofisico di Arcetri) is an astrophysical observatory located in the hilly area of Arcetri on the outskirts of Florence, Italy. It is located close to Villa Il Gioiello, the residence of Galileo Galilei from 1631 to 1642. Observatory staff carry out theoretical and observational astronomy as well as designing and constructing astronomical instrumentation. The observatory has been heavily involved with the following instrumentation projects: The MMT 6.5 m telescope The LBT 2x 8.4 m telescopes The Telescopio Nazionale Galileo 3.5 m telescope The VLT telescope adaptive secondary mirror The 1.5 m Gornergrat Infrared Telescope (TIRGO)

Arcetri is a location in Florence, Italy, positioned among the hills south of the city centre.

The Monument to Daniele Manin is located on Viale dei Colli in Piazzale Galileo in the neighborhood of Arcetri in the outskirts of Oltrarno in Florence, region of Tuscany, Italy. In 1862, Venetians in Florence, who found themselves in exile after the Austrian reconquest of Venice planned to erect a monument to the patriot Daniele Manin (1804–1857). After the incorporation of Venice into Italy in 1866 the project was revived. After a contest, the statue was commissioned (1888) from the Venetian sculptor Urbano Nono. It was cast in 1889 by the Micheli foundry in Venice, and inaugurated in place in the center of Piazza d'Ognissanti in 1890, a piazza then renamed for Daniele Manin. In 1931 the architect Alfredo Lenzi of the Office of Fine Arts of the Comune of Florence banished the statue to piazzale Galileo, on the grounds that limited the enjoyment of the ancient architecture, then decided in 1937 to install the bronze statue of Hercules strangling the Nemean Lion by Romano Romanelli. The theme of this statue, a classical European hero subduing a barbaric African beast, appealed to the Fascist authorities engaged in the colonial subjugation of African people. Manin, himself in life however, was well accustomed to exile, having lived nearly the last decade of his life in France. The monument to Manin underwent restoration in 2003–2004. Originally (as documented by the images and accounts of the time), the foundation had metal ornaments and a large bronze lion (which at the time severely criticized for the design), but these were scrapped during World War I. Manin is depicted as President of the Republic of San Marco at the meeting of the Council of Venice proclaiming the determination to resist at any cost the ultimatum of surrender made by Marshal Julius Jacob von Haynau of the Austrian army (right hand), during the siege of 1848–1849. The sculpture is placed on a base of Carrara marble bearing commemorative inscriptions on all four sides. The engineer of the monument was Moreno Perini. The base was decorated by Marco Fancelli.

The Church of San Gaggio (Italian: Chiesa di San Gaggio) is a Roman Catholic church located on via Senese in Florence, Italy. It was once associated with a large convent. An early church at the site was associated with the Patarines, and demolished by the followers of St Peter Martyr. Under the patronage of Donna Nera Manieri and the Corsini family, a church at the site was founded in the mid-14th century and dedicated to St Catherine delle Ruote. In 1353, it was joined to an adjacent monastery of Santa Caterina a Monte, and dedicated to San Cajo (Saint and Pope Caius). The name was corrupted to San Gaggio. The church was subsequently heavily patronized by the Corsini family.

The Villa Romana Prize, German: Villa-Romana-Preis, is an art prize awarded by the Deutscher Künstlerbund. It was established in 1905 and is the oldest German art award. The prize consists of a one-year artistic residence in the Villa Romana, a nineteenth-century villa on the Via Senese in the southern outskirts of Florence, in Tuscany in central Italy. Max Klinger, who in 1903 had become vice-president of the Deutscher Künstlerbund, established the Villa Romana as a study centre for artists in 1905. He had bought it that year for 60,000 gold lire. The prize was first awarded in that year also.Among the many recipients of the award are Max Beckmann (1906), Ernst Barlach (1909), Joseph Fassbender (1929), Gerhard Marcks, Toni Stadler (1937), Walter Stöhrer (1978), and Georg Baselitz (1965).

Villa il Gioiello ("The Jewel") is a villa in Florence, central Italy, famous for being one of the residences of Galileo Galilei, which he lived in from 1631 until his death in 1642. It is also known as Villa Galileo (not to be confused with the other homes of Galileo found in Florence, which are in Costa San Giorgio, as well as a villa in Bellosguardo).

The Torre del Gallo is a historical building located in Florence, Italy, located at Pian de' Giullari, in the hills of Arcetri, on top of a ridge overlooking the city where there is a magnificent panorama.

Sant'Ilario a Colombaia is a Roman Catholic parish church just outside the Porta Romana, in Florence, region of Tuscany, Italy.

San Felice a Ema is a Roman Catholic church located on the Via of the same name in the neighborhood of Galluzzo, southeast of the urban center of Florence, Italy.

Villa Agape, previously named Villa Arrighetti, is a villa in Tuscany, Italy, situated in Florence on the hill of Arcetri, close to Piazzale Michelangelo. The original house was built in 1472, but was rebuilt in its present form by Giulio de Filippo Arrighetti in 1602. Arrighetti was friends with the scientist Galileo, who retired to Arcetri, effectively under house arrest after the condemnation of his theories. A plaque on the wall commemorates their friendship. The house is also known as Il Galateo or Podere Celline, and was a meeting point in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries of the "Arcadia dei pastori Antellesi", a cultural party grouping local poets, aristocrats, artists and literary figures. The house is also notable for its splendid gardens, laid out in the 1950s by Anna d'Orleans. The garden draws on the traditional features of Tuscan gardens, laid out on a steep slope in a series of terraces, and merging with the surrounding countryside. The house is now called the Villa Agape and was run as a quiet hotel by nuns till 2014. Starting from 2015 Villa Agape became an elegant hotel run by a private company.
