Botanischer Garten Duisburg-Hamborn

Hamborn Abbey (German: Abtei Hamborn) is a Premonstratensian monastery in the Alt-Hamborn district of Duisburg, Germany. The abbey is physically located in the diocese of Essen, although not formally part of it.

Landschaftspark is a public park located in Duisburg-Meiderich, Germany. It was designed in 1991 by Latz + Partner (Peter Latz), with the intention that it work to heal and understand the industrial past, rather than trying to reject it. The park closely associates itself with the past use of the site: a coal and steel production plant (abandoned in 1985, leaving the area significantly polluted) and the agricultural land it had been prior to the mid 19th century.

Hamborn is a district of the city of Duisburg, in North Rhine-Westphalia (Germany).Hamborn has a population of 71,528 an area of 20.84 km2. Since 1 January 1975, has been one of seven districts or boroughs (Stadtbezirk) of Duisburg.

Meiderich is a quarter of the city of Duisburg. It is divided into Unter-, Mittel- and Obermeiderich. Meiderich belongs to the city district Meiderich/Beeck, which started in 1975, during the course of municipal reorganization. On 31 December 2004, 75,000 people lived in the district. Meiderich/Beeck has seven quarters: Beeck, Beeckerwerth, Bruckhausen, Laar, Mittel-, Ober- and Untermeiderich. Meiderich was first mentioned in the beginning of the 10th century as "Medriki", that means "moist area", in a document of the Werden Abbey. The first church was built in the 13th century. In the Middle Ages there was the village Meiderich surrounded by seven areas of accumulated farms: Berchum, Berg, Borkhofen, Dümpten, Lakum, Lösort and Vohwinkel. The association-football club MSV Duisburg, currently taking part in the third division ("Dritte Liga") in Germany is based in Meiderich; the club's name MSV is derived from "Meidericher Spielverein".

Duisburg-Meiderich Süd is a railway station in Duisburg, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany serving the city district of Meiderich. The station is located on the Oberhausen–Duisburg-Ruhrort railway and is served by RB services operated by NordWestBahn There also is an adjacent underground Stadtbahn station which is named Meiderich Bahnhof (Meiderich station), although besides Meiderich Süd (southern station), there is another station in Meiderich, Meiderich Ost (eastern station).

Duisburg-Ruhrort is a railway station in Duisburg, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.

The German Inland Waterways Museum (Museum der Deutschen Binnenschifffahrt) is located in Ruhrort, Duisburg at the nucleus of Duisburg-Ruhrorter ports which today make up the largest European inland harbour complex. The museum was founded in 1974 with purchase of the museum ship Oscar Huber. In 1998 the museum was moved from the old town hall into the city's former indoor swimming facility, an Art Nouveau landmark which had been built in 1910, closed in 1986, and declared a protected historic site in 1988. The move allowed the museum the space to exhibit complete ships, as well as spurring redevelopment in the harbor area. The building conversion was designed by Architektur Fabrik Aachen (afa) and an American artist, Ron Bernstein, and made very little change to the building exterior while expanding the inner spaces to accommodate the exhibits. For example, a full-size sailing ship now occupies the former men's pool, while the second-story women's pool now houses a reconstructed barge.

The Innenhafen (Inner Harbour) in Duisburg, Germany, is connected to the Rhine River, encompasses an area of 89ha. For over a hundred years during the high point of the Industrial Revolution, it was the central harbour and trading point of the town. Since the mid 1960s, the importance of the harbour declined and it lay in a disused condition for 20 years, before plans for renovation were drawn up. This former industrial area has been fundamentally transformed, a process which started as a part of the International Building Exhibition Emscher Park (IBA) which ran from 1989 until 1999. The basis for this model of development in the Ruhr district was delivered in 1994 by the British architect Norman Foster. Since then, the Inner Harbor has transformed itself into a district combining employment, housing, culture and water-based leisure activities. Today, the Inner Harbour is both industrial heritage and a main stop on the Route der Industriekultur.

Ruhrort (German pronunciation: [ˈʁuːɐ̯ʔɔʁt]) is a district in the borough of Homberg/Ruhrort/Baerl within the German city of Duisburg situated north of the confluence of the Ruhr and the Rhine, in the western part of the Ruhr area. Ruhrort has the largest river harbour in the World, with quays extending nearly 40 kilometres along the river, and it is the principal inland shipping port in Germany.

Portsmouth Damm is a 97-metre-long (318 ft) structure located in the Inner Harbour of Duisburg, Germany. It was completed in 1998. It links both sides of the Inner Harbour, whilst also separating the rear harbour which is maintained at a higher level. On 18 August 2000 it was named after the English city of Portsmouth, with which Duisburg had been twinned for fifty years. The architects were Norman Foster and Partners.
