Stretton-on-Fosse

Stretton-on-Fosse railway station was a railway station which served the village of Stretton-on-Fosse, Warwickshire, England. It was located north-east of the village near the Fosse Way road.

The A429 is a main road in England that runs in a north-northeasterly direction from junction 17 of the M4 motorway (4 miles (6.4 km) north of Chippenham in Wiltshire) to Coventry in the West Midlands.

The Anglican Church of St Leonard at Lower Lemington in the parish of Batsford in the Cotswold District of Gloucestershire, England was built in the 12th century. It is a grade I listed building.

Upper Ditchford is an abandoned village to the west of the Fosse Way between Moreton-in-Marsh and Stretton on Fosse, now in the county of Gloucestershire in England but formerly located in Warwickshire. It has been scheduled as an ancient monument.It is located approximately a mile north of the hamlet of Aston Magna and 1½ miles to the east of Paxford on the 100m contour line. According to Historic England "Documentary evidence indicates that the village became ruinous at the end of the 15th century". Another nearby was Lower Ditchford, while Ditchford Frary is largely deserted.

Flowers Wood is a community woodland near Ilmington in Warwickshire, England. It covers a total area of 1.67 hectares (4.13 acres). It is owned and managed by the Woodland Trust. It was one of 200 "Woods on Your Doorstep" created by the Woodland Trust to mark the year 2000 in conjunction with the Millennium Commission, the Forestry Commission and the Sainsbury Family Charitable Trusts.

Aston Magna is a hamlet located off Fosse Way in north Gloucestershire, England, between Moreton-in-Marsh and Shipston-on-Stour. It forms part of the civil parish of Blockley and the Church of England parish of Blockley with Aston Magna in the diocese of Gloucester. Aston Magna church itself is closed and now forms a private house.

Lower Lemington is a small village in the Cotswold district of Gloucestershire, England. The village is about 2 miles (3 km) north-east of Moreton-in-Marsh. Lower Lemington lies east of the Fosse Way, and west of a small stream which may have been called the Leam and may have given its name to the place.There was a settlement here in Saxon times, and the place was recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086 as Lemingtune, when it was in the possession of Tewkesbury Abbey. The village continued to be known as Lemington until the 16th century. A distinction was then made between Lower Lemington and Upper Lemington: the two places were effectively a single village but with different manorial holdings and land ownership. Lower Lemington, held by Tewkesbury Abbey, was a separate manor and parish. Upper Lemington, about 300 metres to the east, was a manor held by Westminster Abbey and was included in the parish of Todenham. By the 20th century the name Upper Lemington had fallen out of use.The church of St Leonard was built in the 12th century. It is now a Grade I listed building.Lower Lemington became a civil parish in 1866. By 1931 the population of the parish was only 50. In 1935 the civil parish was abolished and merged into the civil parish of Batsford.

Dorn is a hamlet in the Cotswold district of Gloucestershire, England. The hamlet is about 1 mile north of Moreton-in-Marsh. Dorn lies on the west side of the Fosse Way, and there was a small Roman town here. The Roman site was the largest of five defended small towns on the line of the Fosse Way between Cirencester and Lincoln. Dorn is the site of the annual Moreton and District Agricultural Show, held on the first Saturday in September on part of the site of the Roman town. The railway line to Worcester runs alongside the show ground, and at Dorn reaches the highest point between Oxford and Worcester. This is also the Thames/Severn watershed. Dorn was one of the lands mentioned in King Edgar's Charter to the church at Worcester in 972. It was apparently included in the manor of Blockley in 1086, and became part of the parish of Blockley and therefore part of Worcestershire until 1931, when Blockley was transferred to Gloucestershire. In 1935 Dorn was transferred from the civil parish of Blockley to the civil parish of Batsford.

RAF Moreton-in-Marsh was a Royal Air Force station near Moreton-in-Marsh, Gloucestershire. It was opened in November 1940 with three concrete and tarmac runways and five aircraft hangars. It closed for operational flying in early 1948. The base remained in use as a relief runway and for training. After a period of care and maintenance, the Station was handed over to the Home Office in 1955. The town's environs are quite flat and low-lying although it is situated at the northern extremity of the Cotswold Hills range. During World War II, a large area of this flat land to the east of the town was developed as an airfield and became the base of 21 OTU (Operational Training Unit) RAF, flying mainly Vickers Wellington bombers. It is highly likely that the airfield inspired the title of the radio show Much Binding in the Marsh. After all, two of its stars, Kenneth Horne and Richard Murdoch, served there as flying instructors.
