Sofia Land (София Ленд) was an amusement park in Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria. It was the first true amusement park in the country, as well as one of the largest in Southeastern Europe, and was situated on an area of 35,000 square metres (380,000 sq ft) in a park close to Sofia Zoo. Construction of the main building began in July 2001 and the park was opened on 21 September 2002. Sofia Land featured 4 extreme, 8 children's and 11 all-age rides and attractions, a number of bars, restaurants, coffeehouses, clubs, a bowling alley under the park itself, and a gaming station with PlayStation 2 and other games below. There were also many shops and several cinema halls situated in the park's main building, which resembled a castle. In September 2006, plans to change the owner and close the park were announced. The park was officially closed down on October 16 of the same year.

The siege of Serdica (Bulgarian: Обсадата на Сердика) took place in the spring of 809 at modern Sofia, Bulgaria. As a result, the city was annexed to the Bulgarian State and remained so until the fall of the First Bulgarian Empire.

The Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy, formerly the "Faculty of Chemistry", is a college of St. Kliment Ohridski University of Sofia, Bulgaria. It was renamed by a decision of the National Assembly of Bulgaria on February 24, 2012.

Lozenets (Bulgarian: Лозенец [ˈɫɔzɛnɛt͡s]), sometimes transliterated as Lozenetz, is a district and residential area located in the southern parts of Sofia, Bulgaria. As of 2012 it has 49,200 inhabitants.

Acibadem City Clinic Tokuda Hospital employs 1300 people, more than 350 of which are physicians and more than 600 are other medical professionals. An average of 280,000 patients are served each year, over 900 children are born and nearly 13,000 operations are performed. The hospital is accredited under the international standard for quality and safety in healthcare – JCI (Joint Commission International). Since July 2013, Tokuda Hospital has been recognized as a Scientific Organization of the Ministry of Education and Science having permission for conducting doctoral programs (PhD) and procedures for taking up academic positions. Acibadem City Clinic Tokuda Hospital has been honored with many national and international awards.The hospital is part of the largest medical care group in Bulgaria – Acibadem City Clinic, including 4 hospitals, 5 outpatient centers, more than 2500 medical specialists, 700 of which physicians and 750 beds. Acibadem City Clinic is part of Acibadem Healthcare Holding – one of the largest medical structures in Turkey. Globally, it is part of the Malaysia-based public company IHH Healthcare Berhad – a provider of healthcare services. The Sofia Seminary of St John of Rila (Bulgarian: Софийска духовна семинария „Св. Йоан Рилски“, Sofiyska duhovna seminariya „Sv. Yoan Rilski“), located in Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria, is the main seminary of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church and an ecclesiastical institution of high education. Founded in 1876 as the Samokov Theological School in the Sts. Peter and Paul Monastery in Lyaskovets, it later moved to the capital of Bulgaria as the city council donated a lot for the construction of a separate seminary building. The Sofia Seminary's construction began in 1902, when Knyaz Ferdinand of Bulgaria laid the foundation stone together with the chairman of the Holy Synod, Metropolitan Simeon of Varna and Veliki Preslav, in the presence of ministers and other influential figures. The complex, designed by Austro-Hungarian architect Friedrich Grünanger, who united Eclecticism with elements of traditional Byzantine architecture, was completed towards the end of 1902 and inaugurated on 20 January 1903. The Seminary Church of St John of Rila, a one-naved cross-domed basilica, was opened on 26 October 1904, St Demetrius' Day. During the Balkan Wars (1912-1913) and the First World War (1914-1918) the seminary complex was used as a wartime hospital, and the Agrarianist rule of 1920-1923 opened an agricultural faculty inside. The events after the Second World War saw the forcible moving of the seminary to Cherepish and the use of the seminary complex in Sofia in turn as a Soviet Army headquarters (1944-1946), by the Union of the Soviet-Bulgarian Friendship (1946-1950) and a Palace of Pioneers (1951-1990). In the spring of 1990 the buildings of the Sofia Seminary were given back to the Holy Synod and education was restored.

James Bourchier Metro Station (Bulgarian: Метростанция "Джеймс Баучер") is a station on the Sofia Metro in Bulgaria, named after James David Bourchier. It opened on 31 August 2012. Bulgaria's PM Boyko Borisov and the President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso inaugurated the new section of the Sofia Metro, which was funded with EU money. The initial project name of the Metro Station was Lozenets named after the neighbourhood Lozenets. A park-and-ride underground facility with 650 parking lots was built along with the construction of the James Bourchier Station.

Hotel Marinela Sofia is a 5-star hotel located in Lozenets, near downtown Sofia, Bulgaria. It was one of the most luxurious hotels in the capital of Bulgaria. With 442 guest rooms, 10 conference rooms, 4 restaurants, 2 bars and the chalga bar - the former unique and only Japanese garden in the Balkans.The hotel was built as the Vitosha New Otani by the Japanese New Otani Hotels chain between 1974 and 1979 to the design of leading Japanese architect Kisho Kurokawa (1934–2007) in the upper-class neighbourhood Lozenets. In his design, Kurokawa implemented architectural details inspired by the Bulgarian National Revival style of Koprivshtitsa and Plovdiv. The 21-storey hotel was built by Bulgarian company Tehnoeksportstroy and the Japanese Mitsubishi. Its Japanese garden was a large-scale copy of the one at the original Hotel New Otani Tokyo and featured a Japanese-style house and lake.

European Union Metro Station (Bulgarian: Метростанция „Европейски съюз“; Metrostantsiya „Evropeyski sayuz“) is a station on the Sofia Metro in Bulgaria. It opened on 31 August 2012. Bulgaria's PM Boyko Borisov and the President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso inaugurated the new section of the Sofia Metro, which was funded with EU money. Barroso expressed his delight that the metro station was named after the European Union.

Park Center Sofia, formerly City Center Sofia, is a shopping mall located in Sofia, Bulgaria, opened in the spring of 2006. It is south of the National Palace of Culture in the municipality of Triaditsa at the intersection of the Boulevards "Cherni vrah" and "Arsenalski", next to European Union Metro Station and diagonally opposed to the Hemus Hotel. The mall has six stories (including two underground) and a total built-up area of 44,000 m2 (470,000 sq ft) (23,000 m2 (250,000 sq ft) for the commercial area). There are more than 100 stores, several cafés, a pharmacy, beauty parlors, bank offices and parking lots. There are also two hypermarkets presented in the mall: Technomarket and Picadilly. The cinema complex Cine Grand has six halls with a total capacity of 1,340 seats.

The University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy is located in Sofia, Bulgaria. It was founded in 1942 as a Higher Technical School following a decree issued on June 6, 1941 by the Bulgarian Tsar Boris III. In 1945 it was transformed into a State Polytechnic. In 1953 the Polytechnic was divided into several institutes one of them being the Institute of Civil Engineering. Since 1977 the institute is renamed Higher Institute of Architecture and Civil Engineering (HIACE). In 1990 by a decision of its General Assembly the Institute was renamed University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy (UACEG), the official accreditation being voted by the Parliament on 21 July 1995. On 15.11.2001 received institutional accreditation.

Sofia Zoo in Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria, was founded by royal decree on 1 May 1888, and is the oldest and largest zoological garden in southeastern Europe. It covers 36 hectares (89 acres) and, in March 2006, housed 4,850 animals representing 840 species.
