Watson is an unincorporated community in Shawnee County, Kansas, United States.

Shawnee Heights High School is a fully accredited public high school located in Tecumseh, Kansas, east of Topeka, Kansas. The school colors are red, white and turquoise and the school mascot is the Thunderbird. The average annual enrollment is approximately 1,200 students. Shawnee Heights is a member of the Kansas State High School Activities Association and offers a variety of sports programs. Athletic teams compete in the 5A division and are known as the "Thunderbirds". Extracurricular activities are also offered in the form of performing arts, school publications, and clubs. The school is a member of the United Kansas Conference.

Lake Jivaro is a private man-made reservoir lake in southeast Shawnee County, Kansas. Constructed in the early 1960s, it lies just east of Shawnee Heights Road. The dam responsible for the lake is at the north end; the lake has roughly the shape of a doubly-rooted tooth. The lake has a 97.7-acre (395,000 m2) surface area. Its shore is lined with residences along about half of the shoreline.Lake Jivaro has a community boat ramp at its northeast corner, at the west end of the dam. It being private property, use requires explicit permission, and the Lake lacks public boat ramps. There are also no public swimming areas, and all fishing requires explicit permission. Two websites attribute bass, walleye, bluegill, white perch, and crappie to its waters.

KMAJ (1440 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station in Topeka, Kansas. It is owned by Cumulus Media and it broadcasts a talk radio format, calling itself "The Big Talker." The studios and offices are South Kansas Avenue. By day, KMAJ is powered at 5,000 watts. But at night, to protect other stations on 1440 AM from interference, it reduces power to 1,000 watts. It uses a directional antenna with a four-tower array. The transmitter is on SE Ratner Road near SE 29th Street in Tecumseh, Kansas. Programming is also heard on 250-watt FM translator K228FW at 93.5 MHz in Topeka.

The Horace G. Lyons House is a historic house. It was built in 1860 for Horace G. Lyons, a settler and farmer. It was expanded in 1893. In 1900, Lyons authored a religious booklet called The Devil Problem, in which he argued that the devil could be found in every man. The house remained in the Lyons family until 1977.The house was designed in the Second Empire and Italianate architectural styles. It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since August 1, 1984.

The Hopkins House is located in Tecumseh, Kansas, USA. There are three contributing structures on the property; the house and barn, both built around 1859 and a coal shed built around 1920. The Greek Revival style limestone house has brick chimneys and a wooden porch. It is significant for its rare (for Kansas) architecture, its associations with the life of early settler Eli Hopkins and its reflection of the history of territorial Kansas. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in January, 2009.It was listed as a featured property of the week in a program of the National Park Service that began in July, 2008.

Tecumseh is an unincorporated community in Shawnee County, Kansas, United States, and situated along the Kansas River. As of the 2020 census, the population of the community and nearby areas was 696. The community and township are both named for the Shawnee chief.

Monmouth township is located in the extreme southeast corner of Shawnee County, Kansas. There are currently no incorporated cities in Monmouth Township. Berryton is the largest unincorporated community. At the beginning of the 21st century it contains a post office, Berryton Elementary School (part of USD 450), and two churches: Berryton United Methodist and Berryton Baptist. Until the construction of Clinton Reservoir the incorporated city of Richland was in the southeast corner of the township. An attempt was made to relocate some of the business of Richland a mile and a half north to become Richland Corners, but when the site of the dam was moved downstream a few miles Richland Corners was stranded too far from open water to benefit from the move. All the businesses eventually died. Originally intended to be under a few feet of water the townsite now a true ghost town. One can drive a few of the streets and walk the cement slab floor of the elementary school all the while speculating about what was once there. In addition to maintaining roads the township authority cares for the cemeteries in the township.

Topeka Correctional Facility is a Kansas Department of Corrections state prison for women located in Topeka, Kansas. Built in the 1970s, in 1995 it became the only women's prison in the state. It administers a wide range of security levels, from maximum security through work-release. The site was founded in 1905 as the Topeka Industrial Institute by the African American educator Edward S. Stephens, as a school on its own farmland, more or less modeled on the Tuskegee Institute. The school closed in 1955.

Berryton is an unincorporated community in Shawnee County, Kansas, United States. It is located east of the Topeka Regional Airport.

Grantville is an unincorporated community in Jefferson County, Kansas, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population of the community and nearby areas was 182. It is located east of Topeka on the south side of US-24 highway between Barton Rd and KOA/Wilson Rd.

Truckhenge is a grassroots art exhibit, part of Lessman's Farm & Catfish Pond, located between Tecumseh and Topeka, Kansas. Truckhenge and Beer Bottle City are also part of the Kaw Region Art Park, as designated by the Association of Shawnee County Recycling And Preservation. Ron Lessman began creating Truckhenge in May 2000, using antique trucks and a bus he collected over the years. After a legal battle with Shawnee County, Kansas over the trucks, a judge ordered Lessman to "pick up the trucks". So, he picked them up. Each truck is anchored into the ground with 23 tons of concrete, and each truck contains several quotes by Ron Lessman. Along with the trucks, there are several beer-bottle sculptures and structures integrated into the park as "Beer-Bottle City". On July 5, 2006, Truckhenge was officially dedicated as part of the Kaw Region Art Park after the Shawnee County Recycling and Preservation Association presented Lessman with a plaque in honor of his work. On July 7, 2006, the Lessman Farm and Catfish Pond hosted a political fundraiser for the Libertarian Party of Kansas (LPKS), after the fundraiser was forcibly blocked from its original location at Lake Edun by Shawnee County officials. The Lessman Farm & Truckhenge played host to a concert called "The f*** Phelps Phestival" on June 1 to June 3, 2007. The concert was headlined by the band "Bite Boy". In July 2007, Ron Lessman began adding onto Truckhenge using several small boats. Truckhenge has been featured in videos from the KDHE (KS Department of Health & Environment), Roadside America, KS Travel, Rare Visions and Roadside Revelations, and the Filip and Frederik Show.
