Middletown High School South is a four-year comprehensive public high school located in Middletown Township, Monmouth County, New Jersey, United States, serving students in ninth through twelfth grades as one of the two secondary schools of the Middletown Township Public School District. The other school in the district is Middletown High School North. The school has been accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Elementary and Secondary Schools since 1977.As of the 2020–21 school year, the school had an enrollment of 1,553 students and 122.1 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 12.7:1. There were 72 students (4.6% of enrollment) eligible for free lunch and 23 (1.5% of students) eligible for reduced-cost lunch.

Middletown is a passenger railway station for New Jersey Transit's North Jersey Coast Line in Middletown Township, Monmouth County, New Jersey. Located along both sides of Church Street in Middletown, the station is the only active station within the township. The station depot contains two high-level platforms for Americans With Disabilities Act of 1990 compliance, four ticket vending machines and 1,616 parking spaces among two lots, 28 of which are handicap accessible.

Middletown Village is an unincorporated community located in the central part of Middletown Township, Monmouth County, New Jersey. It was the first settlement in the township and one of the oldest in New Jersey. The Middletown Village Historic District, encompassing the community, was listed on the state and national registers of historic places in 1974.

Oak Hill Academy is a coeducational, nonsectarian private day school located in Lincroft, in Monmouth County, New Jersey, United States, serving students in pre-Kindergarten through eighth grade. Oak Hill Academy was founded in September 1981 by educator Joseph A. Pacelli. The school is academically rigorous and boasts advanced courses in mathematics and Latin. Oak Hill has swimming as a mandatory part of the physical education program. As of the 2017–18 school year, the school had an enrollment of 296 students and 40.8 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 7.3:1. The school's student body was 67.9% (201) White, 17.2% (51) Asian, 8.8% (26) two or more races, 3.4% (10) Black and 2.7% (8) Hispanic. The average student per academic class is 15. Oak Hill Academy is a member of the Educational Records Bureau and the New Jersey Association of Independent Schools. The school was accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools in 1986, 1996, and 2008.

The Evil Clown of Middletown is a large outdoor sign in Middletown Township, New Jersey. Originally built by and for Food Circus grocery store, which later became known as the regional supermarket Foodtown, it is now a roadside display and de facto advertising sign for a nearby Spirits Liquors. Much of the clown's notoriety stems from its sinister-looking face, which might be described as bearing a vaguely amused sideways scowl.

Mahoras Brook is an approximately 3.5 miles (5.6 km) long spring-fed tributary of Waackaack Creek that flows through Monmouth County, New Jersey. It rises in a small glen shortly west of Middletown, at 40°25′12″N 74°08′13″W and makes a bend north, flowing through the northwest section of Tatum Park. The creek flows under Holland Road and runs north in a small, forested swale through a dominantly residential area, roughly paralleling Laurel Avenue (County Route 52), and receives a small tributary on the left bank. Then it flows under New Jersey State Route 35 and soon, its mouth is on the left bank of Waackaack Creek at 40°23′22″N 74°08′13″W.

River Plaza is an unincorporated community located within Middletown Township in Monmouth County, New Jersey, United States. It is adjacent to the Navesink River and Shadow Lake. The settlement is mainly made up of small single-family homes on a peninsula between the river and lake, though parts of the community stretch north of the lake. The community's one elementary school, River Plaza Elementary, is located north of the lake on Hubbard Avenue (County Route 12). The other major road in River Plaza, Front Street, carries CR 10 east of Hubbard Avenue and travels to Red Bank via the Hubbards Bridge over the Navesink River.

Shadow Lake Dam is a dam on Nut Swamp Brook in Monmouth County, New Jersey. Built in 1931, it has a length of 600 feet (180 m) and is 16 feet (4.9 m) high. The dam impounds Shadow Lake. It has a main overflow spillway, an earthfill berm and an emergency spillway on the right. It has a discharge capacity of 1,912 cubic feet per second. Hubbard Road (County Route 12) crosses over its crest.

Fairview is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) located within Middletown Township, in Monmouth County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2010 United States Census, the CDP's population was 3,806.
