Incendies (French: [ɛ̃sɑ̃di] (listen); "Fires") is a 2010 Canadian drama film directed by Denis Villeneuve, who co-wrote the screenplay with Valérie Beaugrand-Champagne. Adapted from Wajdi Mouawad's play of the same name, Incendies stars Lubna Azabal, Mélissa Désormeaux-Poulin, Maxim Gaudette, and Rémy Girard. The story concerns Canadian twins who travel to their mother's native country in the Middle East to uncover her hidden past amidst a bloody civil war. While the country is unnamed, the events in the film are heavily influenced by the Lebanese Civil War and particularly the story of prisoner Souha Bechara. The film was shot mainly in Montreal, with a few days spent in Jordan. It premiered at the Venice and Toronto Film Festivals in September 2010 and was released in Quebec on 17 September 2010. It met with critical acclaim in Canada and abroad and won numerous awards. In 2011, it was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. Incendies also won eight Genie Awards, including Best Motion Picture.

The Montreal Urban Community (MUC) (Communauté Urbaine de Montréal – CUM) was a regional government in Quebec, Canada, that covered all municipalities located on the Island of Montreal and the islands of L'Île-Dorval and Île Bizard from January 1970 (when it was created from the former Jacques-Cartier County) until the end of December 2001. These municipalities were merged into the megacity of Montreal on January 1, 2002. After the partial demergers of 2006, a successor organization was formed, the Urban agglomeration of Montreal.

Acadie is a provincial electoral district in Quebec, Canada, that elects members to the National Assembly of Quebec. It is located in northern Montreal and consists of parts of the Saint-Laurent and Ahuntsic-Cartierville boroughs. It was created as L'Acadie for the 1973 election from parts of Ahuntsic and Saint-Laurent electoral districts. It changed to its present name in 1989. In the change from the 2001 to the 2011 electoral map, its territory was unchanged.

Saint Sauveur Melkite Greek Catholic Cathedral is a Melkite Greek Catholic cathedral in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It is located at 10025 boulevard de l'Acadie in the borough of Ahuntsic-Cartierville. It serves as the eparchial seat of the Melkite Eparchy of Canada. The building was designed by Gagnier et Villeneuve Architectes, with construction starting in 2006 and ending in 2007. It was dedicated on October 28, 2007. The cathedral has a capacity of 746 people.

Vanier College (French: Collège Vanier) is an English-language public college located in the Saint-Laurent borough of Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It was founded in 1970 as the second English-language public college of Quebec's public college system, after Dawson College. Vanier is located just north of CEGEP Saint-Laurent, a French-language public college. Today, the student population numbers over 6,700 full-time Diploma students with an additional 2,000 students attending through the Continuing Education Department (credit and non-credit courses and programs). Vanier College is one of 48 public Cegeps in the province.

Côte-de-Liesse station is a planned interchange station in the borough of Saint-Laurent in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It is planned to be operated by CDPQ Infra and serve the Réseau express métropolitain (REM) system and will be the terminus of Exo's Mascouche line. The station was known as Correspondance A-40 during development, named after Quebec Autoroute 40.

Cégep de Saint-Laurent is a public French-language college located in the Saint-Laurent borough in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It is a few doors south of the English-language public college Vanier College.

CILO-FM is a low-power commercial multilingual radio station which operates at 102.9 MHz (FM) in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The station is owned and operated by AGNI Communications Inc., which received approval from the CRTC on May 16, 2014. The station will broadcast with an average effective radiated power (ERP) of 31 watts (maximum ERP of 50 watts with a directional antenna and an effective height of antenna above average terrain of 44.4 metres; 145') from facilities near the intersection of Chabanel and Jean Pratt Streets (near the intersection of A-15 and A-40) in the Ahuntsic-Cartierville borough of Montreal. Its signal is hard to receive throughout all the Greater Montreal Area as it has strong interferences with CFOI-FM's 102.9 signal which is broadcast from Saint-Jérôme at 200 watts, it can only be heard clearly in the Villeray-Saint-Michel-Parc-Extension area and Ahunstic-Cartierville as well. CILO-FM will focus on the South Asian diaspora community in Montreal, with most of its programs in Tamil.

Decarie Hot Dog (French: Décarie Hot Dogs; founded 1969) is a diner counter restaurant and landmark located in Saint-Laurent, Montreal, Quebec, Canada, on Decarie Boulevard, near its intersection with Côte-Vertu Boulevard (and Metro station and transit terminus). It specializes in hot dogs and french fries. It is famed for its fries, poutine and Montreal-style steamies and it is reputed to have one of the best poutines in Montreal, as well as in Canada. In addition it is reputed for having some of the best hot dogs in Montreal. As such, it has appeared in some guides about Montreal.Being a local landmark, several local celebrities have eaten at the restaurant, these include Rene Angelil, mayors of Montreal and mayors of Saint-Laurent, former leader of the Liberal Party of Canada, Stephane Dion, pro-athletes of the local teams.With the development of the new public square, Place Rodolphe-Rousseau (named after artist Rudolphe Rousseau), associated with the metro station, across the street from the Decarie Hot Dog building, a full wall mural as painted onto the building. The artwork was painted by Dodo Ose of AShop Studio. The painting, L'Envol, a collaboration between the artist, Ville Saint-Laurent, the owners of Decarie Hot Dog, the Vriniotis family, was made to represent the owners' Greek heritage with the mythological topic of Pegasi. The Vriniotis family established the eatery, and as of its 50th anniversary, in 2019, still operates it. It retained the same menu for its first 50 years except for the addition of poutine in 1984. Also for its 50th anniversary, limited renovations were done to the restaurant, which itself is housed in a building that at the time was a century old.

Côte-Vertu station is a Montreal Metro station in the borough of Saint-Laurent in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It is operated by the Société de transport de Montréal (STM) and serves the Orange Line. It opened on November 3, 1986 and has been the western terminus of the Orange Line since that date, having taken over from Du Collège station.
