Ivö Lake (Swedish: Ivösjön) is the largest and deepest lake of Skåne, Sweden, located in the municipalities of Kristianstad and Bromölla in the northeastern part of Skåne County. It covers an area of just under 55 km2 (21 sq mi), with a maximum depth of 50 meters. The lake is the richest in fish species in Sweden, including pike, salmon, burbot, vendace, bream, ide, ruffe, minnow, rudd, and spined loach, rare for this area, which has prompted biodiversity conservation efforts and attention from among others EU Natura 2000. 25-30 different species are regularly caught in the lake. It is very well known among fishing enthusiasts, not only in Sweden but in many countries in Europe. A lake with numerous islands and sheltered bays, it has become a popular tourist destination for sightseeing as well as fishing. It is surrounded by hills with deciduous forests and valleys with fertile soil, and is located in a climate zone suitable for fruit tree cultivation. The area is one of Scania's fruit districts.

Bromölla (Swedish pronunciation: [brʊˈmœ̂lːa]) is a locality and the seat of Bromölla Municipality, Skåne County, Sweden with 7,595 inhabitants in 2010.The town of Bromölla only consisted of a few houses until it began to grow about 100 years ago around a newly established limestone quarry, leading to the establishment of several ceramics industries. The area has grown up around the entailed estate of Årup and the pertaining parish of Ivetofta. As the railroad between Kristianstad and Sölvesborg established a station in 1886, the first ceramic industri - Ifö - was opened in 1887.

Bromölla Municipality (Bromölla kommun) is a municipality in Skåne County in South Sweden in southern Sweden. Its seat is located in the town Bromölla. Bromölla was in 1967 reunited with Ivetofta (from which it had been detached as a market town in 1942). In 1974 Näsum was added and the municipality's present territory was defined.

Ivetofta is a village and a suburb of Bromölla, in Skåne County in southern Sweden. With a history going back to the 12th century, it was once a rural municipality in the former Kristianstad County. It lies on the eastern bank of Ivö Lake, between Ivö and the smaller lake Levrasjön. The Ivetofta Local Historical Society was founded in 1981 and as of 2013 has nearly 500 members.

Bäckaskog is a locality situated in Kristianstad Municipality, Skåne County, Sweden, between Ivö Lake and Oppmanna Lake, with 293 inhabitants in 2010.The village has developed around the castle and the Premonstratensian monastery. The monastery was constructed in the early 14th century and after the destruction of the monastery in Vä, the monks from there were moved to Bäckaskog. With the Danish Reformation, the monastery was turned into a castle and rewarded to Danish noblemen of the families Ulfstand, Brahe, Bille, Parsberg and eventually the Scanian family of Ramel. The castle was also owned by Swedish king Charles XV and crown-prince Fredrik of Denmark between 1885 and 1900. It was here in 1805 that a treaty was signed between England and Sweden, whereby Sweden joined the war against Napoleon. Bäckaskog was connected to neighbouring towns of Sölvesborg and Kristianstad via the main road (now E22) and had a railway station, servicing also nearby castle of Trolle-Ljungby Castle, along the Sölvesborg-Kristianstad-Railroad. Allegedly (Nordisk Familjebok) the name refers to the Swedish words for stream – bäck and forest – skog in that the place held them both.
