Petrovaradin

Exit (stylized in all caps; Serbian: Егзит / Egzit) is a summer music festival which is held at the Petrovaradin Fortress in Novi Sad, Serbia. Founded in 2000, it has twice won the Best Major Festival award at the European Festivals Awards, for 2013 and 2017. EXIT has also won the "Best European Festival" award at the UK Festival Awards in 2007. In March 2018 Regional Cooperation Council awarded EXIT Festival as Champion of Regional Cooperation for 2017.

The City Museum of Novi Sad (Serbian: Музеј града Новог Сада, Muzej grada Novog Sada; Hungarian: Újvidéki Városi Múzeum; Slovak: Múzeum mesta Nový Sad; Rusyn: Музей града Новог Сада) founded in 1954, is a complex city museum focusing on Novi Sad's, capital of the province of Vojvodina in Serbia, development from its origins to the modern era. It consists of several departments, including Archaeology, History, Cultural History, Ethnology, and a Regional Gallery for contemporary art. The museum includes several branches: the central building at the Upper Plateau of Petrovaradin Fortress, Zmaj Museum in Sremska Kamenica (since 1956), the Regional Collection in Sremski Karlovci (since 1963), and the Collection of Foreign Art in the legacy of Dr. Branko Ilić in Dunavska Street (since 1967). The central building of the museum is located at the upper plateau of Petrovaradin Fortress, in a structure known as the Topovnjača or Mamulina Barracks, built in 1775 as a one-story military barracks.

Petrovaradin Fortress (Serbian: Петроварадинска тврђава, Petrovaradinska tvrđava, pronounced [pɛtrɔʋarǎdiːnskaː tʋř̩dʑaʋa]; Hungarian: Péterváradi vár), nicknamed "Gibraltar on/of the Danube", is a fortress in the town of Petrovaradin, itself part of the City of Novi Sad, Serbia. It is located on the right bank of the Danube river. The cornerstone of the present-day southern part of the fortress was laid on 18 October 1692 by Charles Eugène de Croÿ. Petrovaradin Fortress has many tunnels as well as 16 kilometres (9.9 mi) of uncollapsed underground countermine system. In 1991 Petrovaradin Fortress was added to Spatial Cultural-Historical Units of Great Importance list of the Republic of Serbia.

The Battle of Petrovaradin also known as the Battle of Peterwardein, took place on 5 August 1716 during the Austro-Turkish War when the Ottoman army besieged the Habsburg-controlled fortress of Petrovaradin on the Military Frontier of the Habsburg monarchy (today Novi Sad, Vojvodina, Serbia). The Ottomans attempted to capture Petrovaradin, the so-called Gibraltar on the Danube, but experienced a great defeat by an army half the size of their own, similar to the defeat they had experienced in 1697 at Zenta. Ottoman Grand Vizier Damad Ali Pasha was fatally wounded, while the Ottoman army lost 20,000 men and 250 guns to the Habsburg army led by Field Marshal Prince Eugene of Savoy. The Austrians consolidated this victory by marching into the Banat and conquering Temesvár, the last remaining Turkish fortress in Hungary, followed by Belgrade.

Prince Andrew Bridge (Serbian: Мост краљевића Андреја, Most kraljevića Andreja) was a railway bridge on the Danube river in Novi Sad, current day Vojvodina, Serbia. The bridge was opened for traffic on 11 November 1883. It currently holds the title of the longest standing permanent bridge in Novi Sad, lasting for 61 years until its destruction on 11 April 1941 by Yugoslav army during the Invasion of Yugoslavia. It was rebuilt in 1941 and destroyed again on 22 October 1944 by the German forces during their retreat. The bridge's piers remain to this day.

Hagen Bridge (Serbian: Хагенов мост, Hagenov most) was a pontoon bridge on the Danube river in Novi Sad, current day Vojvodina, Serbia. The bridge was opened for traffic in 1788. Until 11 November 1883, with the construction of the Emperor Franz Joseph Bridge, this was the only permanent bridge in Novi Sad that crossed the Danube river, only briefly destroyed during the Hungarian Revolution of 1848. It was removed in 1918 for the construction of the Prince Tomislav Bridge.

Varadin Bridge (Serbian: Варадински мост, Varadinski most) is a bridge on the Danube river in Novi Sad, Vojvodina, Serbia. The bridge was built in 2000, after the previous bridge at this location was destroyed during NATO bombardment on 1 April 1999.

Prince Tomislav Bridge (Serbian: Мост краљевића Томислава, Most kraljevića Tomislava) was a railway bridge on the Danube river in Novi Sad, current day Vojvodina, Serbia. The bridge was opened for traffic on 20 May 1928. The design was inspired by the Liberty Bridge in Budapest, Hungary. It was destroyed on 11 April 1941 by the Yugoslav army during the Invasion of Yugoslavia. The bridge was replaced by the Marshal Tito Bridge in 1945 and later Varadin Bridge in 2000.

The monument to the victims of the raid in Novi Sad was erected in 1971 in Novi Sad, Serbia, and represents a famous place as an immovable cultural asset of great importance.

Potiorek Bridge (Serbian: Поћореков мост, Poćorekov most) was a bridge on the Danube river in Novi Sad, current day Vojvodina, Serbia. Built in March 1915, it lasted until 18 February 1924 when it collapsed from ice sheet damage and was completely demolished in the summer of the same year.

Alongside nationally prestigious University of Belgrade, University of Novi Sad is one of the most important educational and research institutions in Serbia and South Eastern Europe and the flagship institution of higher education in Vojvodina. The University of Novi Sad, with almost 50,000 students and more than 5,000 employees, is one of the largest educational and research centers in Central Europe. It belongs to the group of comprehensive universities, which are characterized by providing nearly all fields of science and higher education. It is composed of 14 faculties and three scientific institutes located in four university cities - Novi Sad, Sombor, Subotica and Zrenjanin. Institution belongs to the group of comprehensive research universities with significant level of research activities.

The Road–Railway Bridge (Serbian: Друмско-железнички мост, romanized: Drumsko-železnički most) or Boško Perošević Bridge (Serbian: Most Boška Peroševića) was a bridge on the Danube river in Novi Sad, Serbia.
