The Alb Reservoir (German: Albstausee), or Alb Basin (Albbecken) is a storage reservoir in the valley of the River Alb near St. Blasien in the Southern Black Forest in south Germany. It is part of the pumped storage network of the Schluchseewerk based at Laufenburg and lies between the lake of Schluchsee and the Rhine near Waldshut. The barrier is a 28-metre-high gravity dam.

The Gustav Siewerth Academy (GSA) is a private university based in Weilheim-Bierbronnen in Baden-Wuerttemberg, Germany, dedicated to promote a Christian world view. The university became recognized as an institution of higher education in Germany in 1988. However, that recognition is disputed. The Academy is named after philosopher and pedagogue Gustav Siewerth and with only 13 students in 2012–13, was the smallest state-recognized institution of higher education in Germany. The Academy was created to counteract the neo-Marxism views of the Frankfurt School of Theodor W. Adorno and Max Horkheimer. The Academy was founded as a "breeding ground of the truth" by Alma von Stockhausen, previously Professor of Philosophy at the University of Education Freiburg. She is vice rector of the Academy. Remigius Bäumer, the founding principal of the academy, served as the church historian.

The Kolleg St. Blasien is a state-recognised private Gymnasium (university preparatory school) and Catholic school with boarding facilities for boys and girls. It is situated in the town of St. Blasien in the German Black Forest. The school has 850 students, 300 of whom are boarders, and is led by members of the Jesuit order (Society of Jesus). It is considered to be one of the most prestigious schools in Germany with a rich and long history.

St. Blaise's Abbey in the Black Forest is located in St. Blasien. The town is twinned with Saint-Blaise in Switzerland. It is home to the Jesuit college-preparatory school, Kolleg St. Blasien.

The Interessengemeinschaft 3-Seenbahn e.V. is a German heritage railway located in Schluchsee-Seebrugg in Black Forest. It was founded on 13 January 2008 to prevent the demolition of the former freight yard in Seebrugg. At certain dates all over the year the volunteers organize and operate vintage train rides on the Three Lakes Railway (Titisee – Seebrugg) and on the Höllentalbahn (Freiburg – Titisee – Donaueschingen)
