West Middletown, Ohio

The John B. Tytus House is a historic house at 300 South Main Street in Middletown, Ohio, United States. Built in 1865,it was the home of John Butler Tytus (1875-1944), who invented a practical hot wide-strip continuous steel-rolling process that transformed the American steelmaking industry. The house was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1976 due to the efforts of Jeri and Pat Rossi, who bought the house in 1970. The house was the residence of the Rossi family until 2011.

South Main Street District is a historic district in Middletown, Ohio. It contains 76 contributing buildings, including single-dwelling, professional, and specialty store uses. The district was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1974. It includes the John B. Tytus House, which is a National Historic Landmark.

Located in northeastern Butler County, just west of Middletown, it had a population of 8,556 people as of the 2020 census. While it surrounds the city of Trenton, the city is no longer part of the township. It is named for James Madison, president of the United States at the time of its creation in 1810, and is one of twenty Madison Townships statewide.

The Warren County Canal was a branch of the Miami and Erie Canal in southwestern Ohio about 20 miles (32 km) in length that connected the Warren County seat of Lebanon to the main canal at Middletown in the mid-19th century. Lebanon was at the crossroads of two major roads, the highway from Cincinnati to Columbus (later U.S. Route 42) and the road from Chillicothe to the College Township (Oxford), but Lebanon businessmen and civic leaders wanted better transportation facilities and successfully lobbied for their own canal, part of the canal fever of the first third of the 19th century. The Warren County Canal was never successful, operating less than a decade before the state abandoned it.

Madison Junior-Senior High School is a public high school near Middletown, Ohio. It is the only high school in the Madison Local Schools district. The school colors are red, black and white. Madison's sports teams, known as the Mohawks, participated in the Fort Ancient Valley Conference from 1979 until 1984, when the school left for the Southwestern Buckeye League's Buckeye Division, which consists of smaller schools.

Middletown is a city located in Butler and Warren counties in the southwestern part of the U.S. state of Ohio. The population as of the 2020 census was 50,987. It is part of the Cincinnati metropolitan area, located 29 miles (47 km) northeast of Cincinnati and 20 miles (32 km) southwest of Dayton.Formerly in Lemon, Turtlecreek, and Franklin townships, Middletown was incorporated by the Ohio General Assembly on February 11, 1833, and became a city in 1886. The city was the home of AK Steel Holding Corporation (formerly Armco), a major steel works founded in 1900. Although offices were moved to nearby West Chester Township in 2007, the AK Steel factory is still in Middletown. A regional campus of Miami University is located in Middletown. In 1957, Middletown was designated as an All-America City.

South Middletown is a former census-designated place (CDP) in Lemon Township, Butler County, Ohio, United States. The population was 264 at the 2000 census. The area of South Middletown is now within the city limits of Middletown.

Poast Town is an unincorporated community located in northeastern Madison Township, Butler County, Ohio, United States, on State Route 4, about one mile north of Middletown in Section 12 of T2R4 of the Congress Lands. It was laid out in 1818 by Peter Post as the town of West Liberty. A post office with the name Poast Town was established in 1848 but closed in 1934. Mail is provided through the Middletown post office, it is located in the Middletown telephone exchange. It is in the Madison Local School District.

The Harding-Jones Paper Company District is a registered historic district in Excello, Ohio, listed in the National Register of Historic Places on May 29, 1975. A significant, early example of Ohio industry, the mill was owned by the Harding and Jones families for most of its operation. The mill, adjacent to the first lock completed on the Miami-Erie Canal, also includes two residences, a carriage house, and a canal lock.

Miltonville is an unincorporated community in northern Madison Township, Butler County, Ohio, United States. It is about 1.4 miles (2.3 km) north of Trenton, near the intersection of Elk Creek and Howe Roads. It was founded in 1816 and named after poet John Milton.
