FC Hartlepool is a football club based in Hartlepool, England. They are currently members of the Northern League Division Two and play at Grayfields Enclosure in Hartlepool.

St Hild's Church of England School (formerly Henry Smith School) is a mixed secondary school located in the West View area of Hartlepool, County Durham, England. The school is named after Saint Hild of Whitby, the founding abbess of the monastery at Whitby. St Hild's Church of England School was established in September 2001 replacing Henry Smith School on the same site with the same pupils. The school relocated to a new building on the same road a few years later. The school also gained specialism in engineering.Previously a voluntary aided school administered by Hartlepool Borough Council, in April 2021 St Hild's Church of England School converted to academy status. The school is now sponsored by the NEAT Academy Trust, however it continues to be a Church of England school under the direction of the Diocese of Durham. St Hild's Church of England School mainly admits pupils from Barnard Grove Primary School, Clavering Primary School, St Helen's Primary School, Throston Primary School and West View Primary School. The school offers GCSEs as programmes of study for pupils.

Dyke House Academy (formerly Dyke House Secondary Modern School, Dyke House Comprehensive School and then Dyke House Sports and Technology College) is a coeducational secondary school and sixth form located in Hartlepool, County Durham, England.

On the night of 8–9 December 2014, 39-year-old Angela Wrightson was beaten to death in her home in Hartlepool, County Durham, England. She was attacked over the course of seven hours by two teenage girls using various household objects. The first trial began in 2015, but was suspended after information about the defendants was circulated on social media. The following year, after a second trial, both girls were found guilty and subsequently given minimum prison terms of 15 years.

West Hartlepool was a predecessor of Hartlepool, County Durham, England. It developed in the Victorian era and took the name from its western position in the parish of what is now known as the Headland. The former town was originally formed in 1848 as an accompanying settlement for nearby railway and docks, which brought and exported coal from the area. The rail network grew, connecting to docks in Leeds and other cities. Further developments in the area led to the 1960s formation of Hartlepool as a town.

Throston is an area of north Hartlepool within the borough of Hartlepool in County Durham, England. The area name is from the Anglo Saxon thosson meaning hill.It was formerly a rural district with Throston near the Headland overlooking the Tees bay. The district also covered inland farm areas such as Dyke House and West View; some included Throston in their names such as High Throston and Throston Grange. As Hartlepool developed the district merged with the town and is now mainly urban.

Nasir Mosque is the first purpose-built mosque in Hartlepool, County Durham, England built in 2005, located on Brougham Terrace. The mosque participates in several local community events and provides regular services for the wider community.

Hart Station is the most northern area of Hartlepool in the borough of Hartlepool, County Durham, England. It is south of Crimdon, east of Hart and north of Throston. It is likely named after the former Hart railway station (1839-1953) around which it first developed.

Hartlepool Rovers F.C. are a rugby union club who play at The New Friarage, West View Road in Hartlepool. The club plays in Counties 1 Durham & Northumberland, the seventh tier of the English rugby union system after being relegated from North One East at the end of the 2010–11 season. Steve Smith is the club's player-coach and Steven Barnfield its captain. Rovers have a thriving junior section including boys’ and girls’ teams. Hartlepool Rovers also have a thriving and successful women's team, with Rovers Ladies having just completed their first league campaign in the Women's NC North 2 East. They are by far the most successful club in local cup rugby, having won the Durham Senior Cup a record 45 times. Hartlepool Rovers club colours are Red, White and Black. Usually consisting of a white shirt, black shorts and red socks.

Hartlepool Golf Club in England was established in 1906 and in 2006 celebrated its centenary year. The course is classified as a links course and is located on the north east coast. The course is 6202 yards long and par for the course is 70. The course record of 62 was recorded on 8 August 1997, by professional golfer Graeme Storm, the 1999 British Amateur Champion, who learned the game there.

St Joseph's Church is a Roman Catholic Parish church in Hartlepool, County Durham, England. It was built from 1893 to 1895 and designed by Edward Joseph Hansom, Archibald Matthias Dunn and W. Ellison Fenwicke in the Gothic Revival style. It is located on the corner of Hutton Avenue and St Paul's Road close to the centre of Hartlepool. It is a Grade II listed building. It is also close to an Anglican Church called St Paul's Church.

Spion Kop Cemetery, originally known as Hartlepool Cemetery, is a disused cemetery on the coast in Hartlepool in England. It was opened in 1856 to replace St Hilda's Church, Hartlepool churchyard and designed by John Dobson. The area took its name from the Battle of Spion Kop in 1900 during the Boer War.The cemetery was formed from a combination of sand dune and ship's ballast. It is closed to new burials and is now managed as a local nature reserve. Species found there include thrift, the pyramidal orchid, and the lesser meadow-rue.
