The University of Kent (formerly the University of Kent at Canterbury, abbreviated as UKC) is a semi-collegiate public research university based in Kent, United Kingdom. The university was granted its royal charter on 4 January 1965 and the following year Princess Marina, Duchess of Kent, was formally installed as the first Chancellor.The university has its main campus north of Canterbury situated within 300 acres (120 hectares) of park land, housing over 6,000 students, as well as campuses in Medway and Tonbridge in Kent and European postgraduate centres in Brussels, Athens, Rome and Paris. The university is international, with students from 158 different nationalities and 41% of its academic and research staff being from outside the United Kingdom. It is a member of the Santander Network of European universities encouraging social and economic development.

Canterbury Student Radio (CSR FM) is a membership based student and community radio station based in Canterbury, England. It is currently funded by Kent Union based at the University of Kent. When actively broadcasting, the radio station airs a mixture of live and pre-recorded programming from Studio Red based in the Student Media Centre on the main campus 24 hours a day.CSR FM was the first student-led community radio station in the country to acquire a community FM licence on 15 January 2007. The station has and continues to aim to host a diverse range of daytime, specialist music, and speech-based radio programming. Currently, the station is inactively broadcasting live and focused on occasional podcast output. The station continues to actively seek new membership to resume its live output.

The Archbishop's School is a mixed-ability Church of England secondary school and sixth form located on a parkland site on the outskirts of Canterbury, Kent, England. It is a school for pupils and students of all abilities from the ages of 11 to 19, and has approximately 850 pupils. The school was founded in 1958.The Archbishop's School is situated on St Stephens's Hill, in the village of Hackington (not to be confused with the civil parish of the same name), approximately a mile North-West of the city centre. The Rector of Hackington (St Stephen's) is an ex officio Governor of the school, and since 2014 has also held the office of school chaplain (prior to 2014 this was a separate appointment).It has six houses named Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, after the four Evangelists, and two others, Paul and Peter, named after the apostles of those names.

Kent Business School (KBS) is the business school of the University of Kent. Although there are two business schools known as KBS, generally people seem to consider KBS as King's Business School first because it was established in 1980, eight years before Kent Business School. Since opening in 1988, it offers undergraduate, postgraduate, PhD degree programmes and The Kent MBA. KBS is sited in two locations, at The University of Kent campus in Canterbury and at Medway on Chatham Historic Dockyard. In March 2017, Kent Business School at the Canterbury Campus moved into its new home, The Sibson Building, named after the University of Kent's third Vice-Chancellor, Professor Robin Sibson.

Chaucer College Canterbury is an independent college for Japanese university and high school students. It was founded in 1992 by Hiroshi Kawashima, the head of the Shumei Foundation, and opened on 13 October 1992, and is located in a prize-winning building featuring a combination of western and oriental architectural styles on the campus of the University of Kent at Canterbury. All students are recruited by the Shumei Foundation, and many are drawn from its educational establishments in Japan, consisting of a small private university and three very successful independent high schools (Shumei Kawagoe, Shumei Eiko, Shumei Yachiyo). The college now also offers English language courses for European and international students. This is in keeping with the founding principles that 'World peace in both political and economic spheres depends upon international exchange and understanding'.

Tyler Hill is a small village on the northern outskirts of Canterbury, Kent in England. The population is included in the civil parish of Hackington. Its name derives from the useful clay soils that are abundant in the area.

The fifteenth Lambeth Conference was an assembly of bishops of the Anglican Communion convened by the archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, between 27 July and 7 August 2022. It was the first Lambeth Conference to be held since 2008.

Tyler Hill Meadow is a 0.8-hectare (2.0-acre) Local Nature Reserve in Hackington, north of Canterbury in Kent. It is owned by Hackington Parish Council and managed by the council together with the Kentish Stour Countryside Project.The site has unimproved grassland, woodland and scrub. Reptiles include slow-worms and lizards, and eleven species of butterfly have been recorded.There is access from Tyler Hill Road.

St Edmund's School Canterbury is a private day and boarding school located in Canterbury, Kent, England and established in 1749. The extensive school grounds were acquired in 1855. The school currently caters for girls and boys aged 3–18, including the Choristers of Canterbury Cathedral. The school charges full boarders up to £40,272 per annum (2021/2022) and is among the most expensive Headmasters' and Headmistresses' Conference (HMC) schools in the UK. The School is currently headed by Edward O’Connor (2018 – Present)

The residential area known as Hales Place is part of the civil parish of Hackington, and lies to the north of the city of Canterbury in Kent, England. The residents include large numbers of students from the nearby University of Kent.

Hackington is an area of Canterbury in Kent, England, also known (especially historically) as St Stephen's, incorporating the northern part of the city, as well as a semi-rural area to the north. It is an ancient ecclesiastical parish, with the parish church dedicated to St Stephen. It is also the name of a modern civil parish immediately north of Canterbury, the main community of which is Tyler Hill. The ecclesiastical and civil parishes overlap geographically, but are not identical. The original village of Hackington was centred on a village green at the current day location of St Stephen's Church Hackington, the Manwood Almshouses, and Ye Olde Beverlie public house, a location still known as St Stephen's Green. Ye Olde Beverlie served as the clubhouse of the Berverley Cricket Club from its formation in 1835. The club changed its name in 1842 to become Kent County Cricket Club, now based at the St Lawrence Ground in Canterbury. The village of Hackington is today entirely subsumed into the northern suburbs of the city of Canterbury.

Thomas Byrne, VC (December 1866 Dublin – 15 March 1944) was an Irish British Army soldier. He was the recipient of the Victoria Cross (VC), the highest and most prestigious award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces.
