Alvøen

The Bjorøy Tunnel (Norwegian: Bjorøytunnelen) is a 2,012-metre-long (6,601 ft) subsea road tunnel in Vestland county, Norway. The tunnel is part of the Norwegian County Road 5236 which connects the island of Bjorøy in the municipality of Øygarden to the mainland near Håkonshella and Hilleren in the city-municipality of Bergen. It crosses underneath the Vatlestraumen strait, reaching 88 metres (289 ft) below mean sea level. It serves as a fixed link for the 900 residents of the islands of Bjorøy and Tyssøy as well as a large number of cottage owners who vacation on the islands. The first proposal was launched in 1980, and construction started on 29 September 1993. There were severe problems because the tunneling encountered an area of sandstone, causing a year's delay. The total construction cost was 59 million kr. It opened on 7 May 1996 and remained a toll road until 29 January 2005.

Drotningsvik is a neighbourhood in the city of Bergen, Norway. It is located west of the village of Loddefjord in the borough of Laksevåg.

The Sotra Bridge (Norwegian: Sotrabrua) is a suspension bridge which crosses Knarreviksundet between Knarrevik in Øygarden Municipality and Drotningsvik on the mainland of Bergen Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. It carries two road lanes and two narrow pedestrian paths of National Road 555, providing a fixed link for the archipelago of Sotra. The bridge is 1,236 metres (4,055 ft) long, has a main span of 468 metres (1,535 ft) and a clearance of 50 metres (160 ft). In 2007, it had an average 25,494 vehicles per day. The bridge was brought into use on 11 December 1971, although not officially opened until 1972. It cost 40 million Norwegian krone (NOK) to build, of which NOK 23.5 million was paid for with tolls, which were collected until 1983. When it opened, it was the longest suspension bridge in Norway, but is now the seventh longest. There exist plans to build a second bridge to either expand the road to four lanes, or carry a proposed extension of the Bergen Light Rail. Alternatively, a subsea tunnel could be built to carry a motorway.

Knarreviksundet is a sound between the island of Litlesotra in Øygarden Municipality and Drotningsvik in Bergen Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. The Sotra Bridge crosses the Knarreviksundet.

Mathopen is a suburban village in the borough of Laksevåg in the municipality of Bergen in Vestland county, Norway. It lies along the Grimstadfjorden, about 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) southwest of the city centre of Bergen and it is home to the large Haakonsvern military base.

Storavatnet is a lake just southwest of the village of Loddefjord in the city of Bergen in Vestland county, Norway. The 2.2-kilometre (1.4 mi) long lake is located in the borough of Laksevåg, west of the city center of Bergen.There is a small man-made dam on the southwest coast, regulating the one natural outlet for the 1-square-kilometre (250-acre) lake. The major highway junction of Norwegian County Road 562 and Norwegian National Road 555 lies on the northern shore of the lake. Route 562 heads north to the Askøy Bridge going to the island of Askøy. Route 555 heads west to the Sotra Bridge which goes to the island of Sotra. The terminal in Loddefjord, near the lake is the proposed end of the new Loddefjord branch of the Bergen Light Rail system.

Knarrevik or Knarrvika is a village in Øygarden municipality in Vestland county, Norway. It is located along the Byfjorden on the eastern coast of the island of Litlesotra, just north of the village of Straume. The western end of the Sotra Bridge lies at Knarrevik. Statistics Norway groups Knarrevik and neighboring Straume together as one large urban area for statistical purposes. The 6.91-square-kilometre (1,710-acre) urban area of Knarrevik/Straume has a population (2019) of 11,502 and a population density of 1,665 inhabitants per square kilometre (4,310/sq mi).

Bjorøyna or Bjorøy is an island in Øygarden Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. The 4.1-square-kilometre (1.6 sq mi) island is located south of the island of Litlesotra, west of the Bergen Peninsula, north of the island of Tyssøyna, and east of the island of Sotra. Bjorøy is connected to the mainland city of Bergen by a subsea road tunnel called the Bjorøy Tunnel. It is also connected to the small island of Tyssøy in neighboring Sund municipality by a bridge. Bjorøy has 878 inhabitants (September 2012), and several hundred vacation cabins.

Grimstadfjord or Grimstadfjorden is a small fjord in the municipality of Bergen in Vestland county, Norway. The 4-kilometre (2.5 mi) long fjord lies on the western side of the Bergen Peninsula, and it divides the Laksevåg and Ytrebygda boroughs of the city of Bergen. The Grimstadfjorden lies just north of Bergen Airport, Flesland and the Norwegian naval base Haakonsvern lies on the northern shore of the fjord. The lake Nordåsvannet flows to the west into this fjord and then this fjord flows west into the large Raunefjorden. The island of Bjorøy lies at the western mouth of the Grimstadfjorden.The German battleship Bismarck was moored here on 21 May 1941.

Haakonsvern is the main base of the Royal Norwegian Navy and the largest naval base in the Nordic area. The base is located at Mathopen within Bergen municipality, about 15 km south-west of the city centre. Around 5,400 people work at the base as conscripts, officers or civilian staff. The base was established in 1962 when the main naval activities were moved from Horten in the Oslofjord to Bergen. It is the main base for most vessels within the Royal Norwegian Navy and frequently visited by allied vessels. Haakonsvern contains the Royal Norwegian Naval Training Establishment (KNM Tordenskjold) as well as repair and maintenance facilities, including an underground dock facility with the capacity to take frigates.

Kystpilgrimsleia, Norwegian for "Coastal Pilgrim Route", is the name of the pilgrim way that runs along the west coast of Norway and culminates at the Nidaros Cathedral in Trondheim. Kystpilgrimsleia is a joint project between four counties and four diocese to create a comprehensive and sustainable tourism product that promotes cultural heritage and provides a unique experience of more all the fjords of Norway.

Olsvik Church (Norwegian: Olsvik kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Bergen Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. It is located in the Olsvik neighborhood in the city of Bergen. It is the church for the Olsvik parish which is part of the Bergen domprosti (arch-deanery) in the Diocese of Bjørgvin. The white, concrete church was built in a rectangular design in 1990 using plans drawn up by the architect Aksel Fronth. The church seats about 500 people.
