Johnson Park is a multi-purpose sports ground on the northern outskirts of Yeovil, Somerset and is home to the Yeovil Sports and Social Club. The main website can be found at: www.yeovilsportsclub.co.uk. Between 1951 and 1967, Somerset County Cricket Club played 12 first-class cricket matches on the ground, and Somerset also played two List A matches there, one each in 1969 and 1970. The ground was named after Stanley Johnson, a local benefactor, who donated the field for use by the community for sports purposes in 1948. Johnson Park is still, technically, the home of Yeovil Cricket Club although the team actually disbanded a number of years ago. For many years Johnson Park was also home to Yeovil Rugby Club who moved to new premises at Yeovil Showground and established the Ivel Barbarians rugby team in the 1990s. Johnson Park is currently home to Yeovil Tennis Club www.yeoviltennisclub.co.uk, Pen Mill Football Club and Yeo Bowmen Archery Club. It is also the base for a number of other organisations (sporting and social) and has a thriving social element.

Yeovil Without is a civil parish in the South Somerset district of Somerset, England. It lies on the northern edge of Yeovil. It includes both suburbs of Yeovil, including the Bucklers Mead development, and rural areas including the hamlets of Yeovil Marsh and Longcroft. The parish includes Johnson Park and Bucklers Mead Community School. In 2011 the parish had a population of 6,834. The parish was created in 1894 from part of the large ancient parish (and later civil parish) of Yeovil.The Parish Council is composed of five councillors from each of the wards of Brimsmore, Combe and Lyde. The parish council was formed by the Local Government Act 1894.

The Abbey Farm House in Yeovil, Somerset, England was built around 1420 and has been designated as a Grade I listed building.The Ham stone farmhouse was built by John Stourton (died 1438), also known as 'Jenkyn' Stourton. As part of the manor of Preston Plucknett it was originally known as Preston Great Farm, and has always been in lay-ownership. The addition of "abbey" only occurred in the 19th century for reasons unknown.It is closely associated with the Abbey Barn which is also Grade I listed.

Preston School is a secondary school with specialist Business and Enterprise College status in Yeovil, Somerset, England. In 2017, enrolment was 975 students aged 11 to 18 years. In July 2011, the school became an Academy. As of 2023 the current principal is Clare Marsh.

Westlands Sports Ground is a former List A cricket ground located in Yeovil, Somerset. The ground is home to Westlands Sports Club, originally formed from employees of Westland Aircraft. Between 1971 and 1978, the ground hosted annual Somerset County Cricket Club matches in late May or early June. In later years, the club has used the ground for Second XI and youth cricket.

The Abbey Barn in Preston Plucknett, Yeovil, Somerset, England was built around 1420 by John Stourton (died 1438), in conjunction with the Abbey Farm House. It has been designated as a Grade I listed building, and Scheduled Ancient Monument. With an internal length of 31.4 metres (103 ft), it is the longest barn in Somerset.It is now used as a building contractors showroom and store.

Preston Plucknett is a suburb of Yeovil in Somerset, England. It was once a small village, and a separate civil parish until 1930, when it was absorbed into the neighbouring parishes of Yeovil, Brympton and West Coker. It was listed in the Domesday Book of 1086 as "Preston" (Old English: preost tun, "priest farm/settlement") when its lord was Ansger of Montacute (Alfward before 1066). In the 13th century, Alan de Plugenet was lord of the manor and added his surname to Preston. Following the 20th century expansion of Yeovil, Preston Plucknett became little more than a suburb of the town. Throughout the centuries the spelling and pronunciation of the name has changed and evolved until it became the present day "Preston Plucknett." The parish of Preston Plucknett was part of the Stone Hundred.The village church, dedicated to St James, dates from 1420, and has a 20 m (60 ft) tower with six bells. The church was restored and partially rebuilt during the 1860s. A vestry was added in the 1950s and an annexe in 1979, which was expanded in 2001. It became a separate parish church in 1988: until that time, it had been a church of St John’s, the parish church of Yeovil. It has a daughter church, St Peter's, built in the 1930s. The tithe barn at Preston Plucknett was included in the fifth list of ancient monuments prepared by the Commissioner of Works in 1925. The Abbey Barn and associated Abbey Farm House are both Grade I listed buildings.The still preserved manor house of Preston Plucknett was built in the early 15th century, around 1420, by John Stourton (d. 1438; cousin of his namesake John Stourton, 1st Baron Stourton), a justice of the peace, sheriff, and several times Member of Parliament for Somerset, who, helped by three good marriages, accumulated a respectable wealth. The manor was left to his third and surviving spouse, Katherine Payne, and eventually inherited by his three daughters, one of which, Alice, was married to Sir William Daubeney and was the mother of Giles Daubeney, 1st Baron Daubeney. The village is included in The Meaning of Liff defined as "a very large string bag made of thin strong cord into which feathers from freshly killed ducks and chickens were stuffed, from Preston in Lancashire".

Yeovil Olympiads Athletics Club was the first track and field athletics club in Yeovil, Somerset, England. The club is based at the Bill Whistlecroft Athletics Arena, formerly Yeovil Arena before it was renamed on 14 September 2014. This club was founded in 1969. It has produced many international athletes since its creation. The first was Eric Berry who came 6th in the 1973 European Juniors in the hammer event. Olympians who started with the club include Max Robertson and Gary Jennings, both 400 metres hurdlers. In 2008, the senior men's section of the club was promoted to the British Athletics League. The Club gained promotion to Division 3 of the League in 2014.In 2009, the club will also contest the South West Athletics League, The Southern Women's League, and The Young Athletes League. In 2010 the title of Top Athletics Team in the South West was awarded by UK Athletics and South Somerset District Council who awarded the Club Top Sports Team in the area.In 2017, the club is contesting the British Athletics League, the Southern Athletics League and the South-West Athletics League. Athletes join with Wells City Harriers for Road Running and Cross Country events. The club is affiliated to South of England Athletics Association and England Athletics.

The Church of St James in Preston Plucknett, Somerset, England, was built in 1420. It is a Grade II* listed building.

West Hendford Cricket Ground was a first-class cricket ground in Yeovil, Somerset. The land for the ground was first leased by Yeovil Cricket Club in 1874 and was also used for a range of other sports, most significantly hosting Yeovil Rugby Club in the 1890s and then again from 1935 until the ground was closed. Significant improvements were made to the ground during the 1930s, including the opening of a new pavilion jointly funded by the Rugby and Cricket clubs. The ground was demolished in 1944 when Westland Aircraft extended their factory, and both Yeovil Cricket Club and Rugby Club moved to Johnson Park. Between 1935 and 1939, the ground hosted five annual Somerset County Cricket Club matches in July or August, the first of which nearly broke a county record for ticket sales on the gate. Somerset won only one of the five matches, the 1936 contest against Worcestershire.
