Rochdale Way

Hollingworth Lake is a 130-acre (53 ha) reservoir at Smithy Bridge in Littleborough, Greater Manchester, England. It was originally built as the main water source for the Rochdale Canal, but developed as a tourist resort from the 1860s. Hotels were built around it, helped by the arrival of the railway in 1839, which brought day-trippers and weekend visitors from Manchester, Bradford and Leeds. The popularity of the lake as a resort declined in the early twentieth century and the area was used as an army camp in the First World War. The canal company sold the reservoir to Oldham and Rochdale Corporations for water supply in 1923. After the Second World War, boating rights were bought by Rochdale Council, who developed the area into the Hollingworth Lake Country Park in 1974. There has been a steady increase in facilities since, and it is now a thriving centre for water sports and other activities. Hollingworth Lake Rowing Club has been in continuous existence since 1872.

Brearley Brook is a watercourse in Greater Manchester and a tributary of Hollingworth Brook. The original source was on Low House Moor but this has been diverted under the M62 Motorway to join Longden End Brook. The brook now originates at Syke, and follows the original course.

Longden End Brook is a watercourse in Greater Manchester. It rises near Windy Hill, and flows down Rakewood Valley and underneath the M62 motorway at Rakewood Viaduct, before arriving at Hollingworth Lake, where it is the main feeder stream.

Shore Lane Brook is a water course in Greater Manchester and a tributary of Ealees Brook in Littleborough.

Hollingworth Brook is a water course in Greater Manchester which originates at Hollingworth Lake and flows through the Ealees Valley where it merges with Shore Lane Brook to form Ealees Brook.

Littleborough railway station serves the town of Littleborough in the Metropolitan Borough of Rochdale, Greater Manchester, England. It lies on the Calder Valley line 13¾ miles (22 km) north of Manchester Victoria towards Halifax, Bradford Interchange and Leeds. This is the last station on the Caldervale Line in the Greater Manchester area. It was one of the original Manchester and Leeds Railway station sites and for the first year of operation following its opening in July 1839, it was the temporary terminus of the line from Manchester (the section on through the Summit Tunnel towards Mirfield not being completed until 1841). It did so again for some eight months after the December 1984 Summit Tunnel fire - passengers transferring between the trains to/from Manchester and a rail-replacement bus service onwards to Todmorden until repairs to the tunnel could be completed and the line reopened.

Hollingworth Lake Rowing Club is a rowing club on Hollingworth Lake and based at The Clubhouse, Lake Bank, Littleborough, Greater Manchester. The club was founded in 1872 but the current clubhouse was built in 1972.The club has produced multiple British champions.

Littleborough and Saddleworth was a parliamentary constituency in Greater Manchester, England. It returned one Member of Parliament (MP) to the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom. The constituency was created for the 1983 general election, and abolished for the 1997 general election.

Ealees Brook is a water course in Greater Manchester named after the Ealees area of Littleborough. It flows northwards from the Ealees Valley to the River Roch in Littleborough.

The Old Duke is a Grade II listed former public house on Ealees in Littleborough, a town within the Metropolitan Borough of Rochdale, Greater Manchester, England. Built in 1820 as a house, three cottages were added to the rear in the 1850s and later combined into one dwelling; by 1860 it was in use as a pub known as the Duke of Norfolk, before later returning to private residential use.

The Wheatsheaf is a Grade II listed public house on Church Street in Littleborough, a town within the Metropolitan Borough of Rochdale, Greater Manchester, England. Built in the early 1860s, it stands on the site of an earlier inn of the same name, recorded as far back as 1780. Part of the semi‑circular building continues to house the pub, while the remainder is occupied by commercial premises.

Whittaker Wood is a woodland in Greater Manchester, England, near Littleborough. It covers a total area of 1.88 hectares (4.65 acres). It is owned and managed by the Woodland Trust.
