Boston Corners station

Boston Corner is a hamlet of the town of Ancram in Columbia County, New York, United States and the town of Northeast in Dutchess County. The District of Boston Corner was incorporated by Massachusetts in 1838 from a tract of unincorporated land west of the town of Mount Washington, Massachusetts, and was ceded from Massachusetts to New York on January 11, 1855, because its geographical isolation from the rest of Massachusetts made maintaining law and order difficult. Three railroads—New York Central's Harlem Line, the Poughkeepsie and Eastern Railway, and the Rhinebeck and Connecticut Railroad—once served the hamlet. The New York Central stop was called Boston Corners station. All lines have since been abandoned.

Brace Mountain is the peak of a ridge in the southern Taconic Mountains, near the tripoint of the U.S. states of New York, Connecticut and Massachusetts. Its 2,311-foot (704 m) main summit is located in New York; it is the highest point in that state's Dutchess County.The New York and Massachusetts portions of the mountain are within protected areas; Taconic State Park and Mount Washington State Forest respectively. The Connecticut portions are privately owned and conserved. It is a challenging yet popular hike since its summit, along with 2,304-foot (702 m) subpeak South Brace Mountain, are along the 15.7 mi (25.3 km) South Taconic Trail. Hikers approach the mountain either from the New York side on the west via the South Taconic or from another trail following the Connecticut-Massachusetts state line on the east, a route that allows them to visit both the tristate marker and the highest point in Connecticut, near the summit of Mount Frissell, along the way. Brace's bald summit, marked by a large cairn, offers views in all directions, particularly to the Hudson Valley and Catskills to the west. It has become a popular site for launching hang gliders and paragliders.

The South Taconic Trail is a 21.3 mi (34.3 km) hiking trail in the Taconic Mountains of southwest Massachusetts and adjacent New York. The trail extends from Shagroy Road in Millerton, New York, north along the ridgecrest of the southern Taconic Range and the border of New York and Massachusetts, and ends north of the Catamount Ski Area on Massachusetts Route 23 700 feet (210 m) east of the New York border in Egremont, Massachusetts. The Appalachian Trail, which traverses an adjacent ridgeline in the same mountain range, parallels the South Taconic Trail 3 mi (4.8 km) to the east. The trails are connected to one another via shorter trails.

Mount Frissell, 2,454 feet (748 m), which straddles the border of southwest Massachusetts and northwest Connecticut, is part of the Taconic Range. Frissell's south slopes include the highest point in Connecticut. Frissell's summit and the majority of its slopes are within Massachusetts' Mount Washington State Forest. Its southern slopes are in Salisbury, Connecticut. Here the state line reaches to about 2,379 feet (725 m). The high-point marker for Connecticut is on the border with Massachusetts at 42.049633°N 73.483042°W / 42.049633; -73.483042. (The highest mountain summit in Connecticut is Bear Mountain, about 1.3 miles (2.1 km) to the east-southeast of Mount Frissell. Mount Frissell is traversed by the Mount Frissell Trail which connects with the South Taconic Trail to the west and the Appalachian Trail to the east. The south side of Mount Frissell drains into Riga Lake and South Pond, then into Wachocostinook Brook, Salmon Creek, the Housatonic River, and Long Island Sound. The northwest side drains into Ashley Hill Brook, thence Bash Bish Brook, the Roeliff Jansen Kill, the Hudson River, and Upper New York Bay. The northeast side drains into Sages Ravine, thence into Schenob Brook, the Hubbard Brook, the Housatonic River, and Long Island Sound. Mount Frissell is bordered by Round Mountain to the southeast, Mount Ashley to the north, and Brace Mountain to the west.

Alander Mountain is 2,241-foot-tall (683 m) part of the south Taconic Mountains in southwest Massachusetts and adjacent New York. The summit is grassy and covered with scrub oak and shrubs; the sides of the mountain are heavily forested. Several trails traverse Alander Mountain, most notably the 15.7 mi (25.3 km) South Taconic Trail, which passes just beneath the summit. Much of the mountain is located within Taconic State Park and Mount Washington State Forest; other parcels are privately held. The west slope of Alander is within Copake, New York. The point where the state line crosses the ridge next to the South Taconic Trail is, at 2,115 feet (645 m), the highest elevation in Columbia County. The summit and east side are within the town of Mount Washington, Massachusetts. The west side of Alander Mountain drains into the Preachy Hill Brook, then into the Noster Kill, Bash Bish Brook, the Roeliff Jansen Kill, thence the Hudson River and Long Island Sound. The east side drains into Ashley Hill Brook, then Bash Bish Brook and the Roeliff Jansen Kill.

Washburn Mountain is a 1,496-foot-tall (456 m) mountain in New York. It is located south-southeast Copake Falls in Columbia County. From 1932 to 1964, the mountain was the location of a 60-foot-tall (18 m) steel fire lookout tower now located on Beebe Hill. Alander Mountain is located southeast of Washburn Mountain.

The Mount Riga station was a former New York Central Railroad station in North East, New York. The station also served nearby Ancram, New York.

Copake Grange Hall, also known as Copake Grange #935, is a historic Grange hall located at Copake in Columbia County, New York, U.S.A. It was built in 1902–1903, with additions in 1906 and 1921. It is a two-story wood-frame building with a gable roof and two one story flat roofed wings. For many years the second floor served as a public library.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2001.

Copake is a hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) in Columbia County, New York, United States. The hamlet is in the south-central part of the town of Copake. The CDP was designated after the 2010 census, so no population figure is yet available. The area was once known as Copake Flats.The Copake Memorial Clock was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2012.

Copake Memorial Clock, also known as the Copake Clock, is a historic freestanding clock located at Copake, Columbia County, New York. It was erected in 1944 as a memorial to those lost in World War II, and is a four-sided pedestal-type, memorial chime clock. The metal object consisting of a base, plinth, and column topped by a copper and glass clock was manufactured by the O. C. McClintock Company of Minneapolis, Minnesota.: 3 The death of Steven McIntyre in action in Italy during World War II inspired his uncle, Ed McIntyre, and Albert C. Bristol to spearhead a drive to create a memorial clock for all those from Copake who served in wartime. The cost of the clock — $2,600 — was a large sum at the time, especially considering world events of the day. The date of the original dedication was Oct. 29, 1944, while the U.S. was still at war. In addition to Copake residents who served in World Wars I and II, the monument also contains plaques listing those who served in Korea and Vietnam. The clock was rededicated in June 2011 after a complete restoration. The community raised $42,000, to replace the works and the chime unit, rebuild the entire clock body and pedestal, and restore the stained glass.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2012.

Copake is a town in Columbia County, New York, United States. The population was 3,346 at the 2020 US census, down from 3,615 at the 2010 census. The town derives its name from a lake, which was known to the natives as Cook-pake, or Ack-kook-peek, meaning "Snake Pond". Copake is on the eastern border of the county. Taconic State Park is along the eastern edge of the town.

Copake United Methodist Church and Copake Cemetery is a historic United Methodist church on Church Street in Copake, Columbia County, New York. The church was built about 1854 and is a one-story, timber frame meeting house style church with Greek Revival style design attributes. It features a stoutly proportioned, four columned Ionic order portico and a two tiered belfry. The church is set within Copake Cemetery. The earliest burial dates to 1757 and most of the stones date to the first decades of the 19th century.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2007.
