House at 53 Linden Street

The House at 44 Linden Street in Brookline, Massachusetts, is a little-altered local example of Second Empire styling. The 1+1⁄2-story house was built in 1874 by Solomon Eaton on land that was owned for many years by Thomas Aspinwall Davis. It has classic Second Empire features, including a mansard roof, polygonal bay windows, and brownstone window arches. The only significant alteration is a sunporch on the left side. It was converted into a two-family in 1923.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.

Roughly rectangular in shape with one curved side, Linden Square was laid out in 1844 by Alexander Wadsworth as part of the subdivision of the area by Thomas Aspinwall Davis. Its original pathways consisted of a horseshoe-shaped path flanking its perimeter, and a straight path that bisected the park; it now has paths that form an X, a layout adopted by the late 19th century. The park consists of grassy areas dotted with trees, and surrounded by a wrought iron fence with openings for the paths.The park was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.

The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.

The William Ingersoll Bowditch House is a historic house at 9 Toxteth Street in Brookline, Massachusetts. It is a good example of vernacular Gothic and Greek Revival architecture, built c. 1844-45 as part of one of Brookline's earliest formal residential subdivisions. William Bowditch, the first owner, was an active abolitionist who sheltered fugitive slaves as part of the Underground Railroad, and was a member of the Boston Vigilance Committee. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on October 17, 1985.

Puppet Showplace Theater is a nonprofit puppet theater in Brookline, Massachusetts. The organization was founded in June 1974 by Mary Churchill. Since 1981, it has been located at 32 Station Street. The theater presents performances by local and traveling professional puppet companies.Puppet Showplace Theater houses one performance space, a proscenium with a "comfortable capacity" of 80 adults. Each year, it presents over 300 performances at its home in Brookline. The theater also presents touring productions performed in schools, libraries, and cultural centers throughout the Northeastern United States.

The triangular park was created in 1843 as one of several parks in the Lindens subdivision of the area by Thomas Aspinwall Davis, which was the first residential subdivision created in Brookline. In addition to generous setbacks, the deeds for the lots of this subdivision contained covenants excluding the sale to "Negroes or natives of Ireland".The park and neighborhood were designed by Alexander Wadsworth, and the park was originally held in common by the surrounding property owners. The park is now partially surrounded by wrought iron fencing, and has grassy areas and a playground.The park was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.
