Cardiff Central Library

Alliance is a 25-metre-high (82 ft) sculpture in the centre of Cardiff, Wales, created by Paris installation artist Jean-Bernard Metais. It consists of a large, partly enamelled, stainless steel arrow, and a hoop that glows in the dark. It was financed by the St David’s shopping centre as part of a £1.5m public art scheme in the city centre, and was unveiled on 3 December 2009.

Cardiff Marriott Hotel is a four star Marriott hotel in the southern part of The Hayes in the centre of Cardiff, capital of Wales. It is located in close proximity to Cardiff Central Library and St. David's Hall. The hotel opened in 1986 as a Holiday Inn, owned by Canada-based Scott's Hotels. It was renamed the Cardiff Marriott in 1992. It was sold to Whitbread Hotels in 1995 and then sold again in 2005. The hotel underwent refurbishment in 2008, which included a new multi-storey car park, because part of the hotel car park was sold to make way for a new Cardiff Central Library as part of the St. David's 2 development.

Tabernacle (Welsh: Y Tabernacl) is a Welsh-language Baptist chapel in The Hayes in the centre of Cardiff, Wales. It is a Grade II* listed building.

Caroline Street (Welsh: Stryd Caroline) is a pedestrianised street running east/west in the lower part of Cardiff city centre, located between The Hayes and St. Mary's Street. It is known locally as Chippy Lane due to the density of fast food shops along the street.

The Hayes (Welsh: Yr Ais) is a commercial area in the southern city centre of the Welsh capital, Cardiff. Centred on the road of that name leading south towards the east end of the city centre, the area is mostly pedestrianised and is the location of the Hayes Island Snack Bar. At the north end of The Hayes is the Old Library, known as the Cardiff Free Library, Museum and Schools for Science and Art during its century (1882 to 1988) of use as the second incarnation of the city's central library. The latest, fourth permanent Cardiff Central Library opened in 2009 and is situated at the opposite end of the Hayes. Scenes of BBC's Doctor Who and Torchwood have often been filmed here.

The Golden Cross is a Grade II listed public house at the junction of Customhouse Street and Hayes Bridge Road in the centre of Cardiff, Wales. The current building dates from 1903 and is noted for its distinctive ceramic tiling.

The Royal Arcade is a shopping arcade in Cardiff, South Wales. The Royal Arcade is the oldest arcade in Cardiff, being built in 1858, it is a Grade II listed building. In 1861, a free library was set up by voluntary subscription above the St Mary Street entrance to the Royal Arcade in Cardiff. Before the end of the 19th century the Cardiff School of art was using rooms above the arcade with students such as J. M. Staniforth and Goscombe John attending. Running east/west from The Hayes to St Mary's Street, parallel but to the south of the Morgan Arcade, it also runs under David Morgan's department store. After Morgans bought the Royal Arcade, the family formed a holding company called the Cardiff Arcade Company, which owned and operated both the Royal and the Morgan arcades. After the agreed closure of David Morgan's, the property assets inside the various holdings companies were sold in late 2004 for £25 million to property firm Helical Bar. David Morgan Limited, Deymel Investments Limited and the Cardiff Arcade Company Limited are now all in liquidation. Between 2007 and 2008 the whole site was refurbished by Helical Bar, with the arcades restored. The companies spent £30M on restoring both the Morgan and Royal arcades, with some first-floor Venetian windows and original wooden storefronts still surviving.Today the Royal Arcade still has some of the original shopfronts at numbers 29, 30 and 32 on St. Mary Street. Running direct opposite from the new St. David's 2 development and close to Cardiff Central Library, a variety of independent shops are still to be found such as Wally's Delicatessen, who have been in the arcade for 60 years, and those specialising in Welsh textiles, gifts and homeware.

Custom House Street Tower (also known as Customhouse Street Tower) is a proposed 42-storey skyscraper in Cardiff, Wales. The building was originally due to open in 2018, however, as of 2020 work has yet to begin. The 433 ft (132 m) mixed-use development building will accommodate approximately 450 students and also retail units on the ground floor. When completed it is envisaged that the tower will become the tallest building in Wales. The tower is enclosed by Custom House Street to the north, Bute Street to the east, the South Wales Main Line to the south and Hope Street to the west.

David Morgan was an independent department store in Cardiff that ceased operating in January 2005 after 125 years of trading. It opened on 31 October 1879 and closed its doors for the final time on Saturday 30 January 2005.

The Wales National Ice Rink (WNIR) was an ice rink in Cardiff, Wales. It was the former home of the Cardiff Devils ice hockey team. The WNIR was opened in September 1986, and was inaugurated by the Duchess of York on 27 April 1987. Meat Loaf performed on December 4th, 1993 on the Everything Louder tour to a crowd of 4,300. It was demolished in September 2006 to make way for expansion of the St David's, Cardiff Shopping Centre, with the site now occupied by John Lewis.

The Old Brewery Quarter, also known simply as the Brewery Quarter or the Brewery ¼, is a modern mixed-use development in the centre of Cardiff, Wales, on the site of the original Brains Brewery, with entrances on St. Mary's Street and Caroline Street.

It opened in 1899 as the New Central Arcade, running east/west from the Hayes to St. Mary's Street.After Morgans bought the Royal Arcade, the family formed a holding company called the Cardiff Arcade Company, which owned and operated both the Royal and renamed Morgan arcades, which both ran underneath the store. After the agreed closure of David Morgan's, the property assets inside the various holdings companies were sold in late 2004 for £25 million to property firm Helical Bar.
