North County Christian School is a private Christian school in Florissant, Missouri, USA. Established in 1962 with a kindergarten class of 12 students, NCCS has grown to a school of 540 preschool, elementary, middle and high school students. NCCS currently has over 400 families enrolled representing over 130 churches and 5 school districts. With the acquisition of the New Campus, located at 845 Dunn Road in Florissant, in July 2004 the school has moved its entire operations for preschool to grade 12 to the New Campus. The 14-acre (57,000 m2) campus features a preschool / elementary education building with 28 classrooms. A secondary education building with 21 classrooms including three science labs, a video production room, a drama classroom complete with performance stage. The elementary and secondary buildings are linked by a common fine arts and library building that features a spacious library, a computer instruction lab, an art room, band room, choir room and private practice rooms. The campus also includes a full size gymnasium, a large cafeteria, a prayer chapel, and an administrative building. Outdoors, NCCS has two playgrounds, a softball field a lighted athletic field complete with stadium seating for 500.North County Christian School is registered with the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education in Jefferson City. The school is a member of the Association of Christian Schools International, the Nazarene International Educators Association and the National Institute for Learning Disabilities.On February 23, 2010, North County Christian School is accredited through the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) for the secondary grades 7-12. North County Christian School will now begin the process for completing the necessary requirements for accreditation of its K-6 educational program. NCCS's association with these organizations offers opportunities for student activities and teacher development.

The Gittemeier House is a historic building in Florissant, Missouri, built by Franz Gittemeier in 1860. The house has been preserved and now serves as the headquarters of Historic Florissant, the local historical society.

The Barton House in Florissant, Missouri is a "Missouri French" style house from 1923. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.It is one of 16 houses in the City of St. Ferdinand which were described as "Missouri French" and listed together on the National Register in 1979, as part of a larger study of historic resources in the area.

The Hanson House in Florissant, Missouri is a historic house located at 704 Ste. Catherine. The house was built in 1897 in what was then an outlying area of the City of St. Ferdinand, and was renovated in 1947. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.It is a frame house, vernacular in style, but with some classical details such as "entablature window heads". According to a historic resources inventory done in Florissant in 1978, echoed also in a 1979 study, it has the "finest Eastlake porch in area."The 1947 renovations were to enlarge the basement, remove old buildings behind, and install an indoor bathroom.In the 1970s the area of St. Ferdinand was assessed for its historic resources, leading to the listing in 1979 of the Hanson House and many other houses, buildings, and historic districts on the National Register of Historic Places.

Hazelwood is a city in St. Louis County, Missouri, within Greater St. Louis. It is a second-ring northern suburb of St. Louis. Based on the 2020 United States census, the city had a total population of 25,485. It is located north of St. Louis-Lambert International Airport and is situated on Interstates 270 and 170, as well as the much-traveled Lindbergh Boulevard and Highway 370.

Old St. Ferdinand Shrine and Historic Site is located at no. 1 rue St. Francois, Florissant, Missouri, and is owned, preserved, maintained, and protected by the non-profit organization, Friends of Old St. Ferdinand, Inc. The Shrine and Historic Site consists of four historic buildings on their original locations: the 1819 convent, 1821 church, 1840 rectory, and 1888 schoolhouse. It was the center of St. Ferdinand Parish, and the area which became the city of Florissant was also known as the city of St. Ferdinand. The schoolhouse may be used for public or private gatherings. Artifacts from virtually every era in Old St. Ferdinand's history are on display in the museum and throughout the buildings. On July 26, 2022, Old St. Ferdinand Shrine was submerged with loads of water caused by major flooding. The historic building sustained water damage after the flooding incident.

St. Louis Assembly Plant was an automobile factory owned by Ford Motor Company in Hazelwood, Missouri. It was opened in 1948 and was closed in 2006; it was idled as part of Ford's "The Way Forward" plan. The plant was demolished in 2009.

The Casa Alvarez is a wood-frame, French Colonial-style house in Florissant, Missouri listed on the National Register of Historic Places as among the oldest houses in St. Louis County. According to its nomination for the Register it "serves as a last link with the Spanish occupation of the Upper Louisiana territory." Located at 289 Rue St. Denis, it is surrounded by modern homes.

The Archambault House is a transitional Federal style house that was built circa 1850 in Florissant, Missouri. It is notable for its intact outbuildings which are some of the finest remaining in Florissant. It was the home of Auguste Archambault, a French-Canadian mountain guide who worked with many other American explorers, traders, and mountain men of the West such as Kit Carson, Jim Bridger, and John C. Frémont. The house is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is also a St. Louis County Landmark.

The 1966 NASA T-38 crash occurred when a NASA Northrop T-38 Talon crashed at Lambert Field in St. Louis, Missouri, on February 28, 1966, killing two Project Gemini astronauts, Elliot See and Charles Bassett. The aircraft, piloted by See, crashed into the McDonnell Aircraft building where their Gemini 9 spacecraft was being assembled. The weather was poor with rain, snow, fog, and low clouds. A NASA panel, headed by the Chief of the Astronaut Office, Alan Shepard, investigated the crash. While the panel considered possible medical issues or aircraft maintenance problems, in addition to the weather and air traffic control factors, the end verdict was that the crash was caused by pilot error. In the aftermath of the crash, the backup crew of Thomas Stafford and Eugene Cernan were moved up to the primary position for the Gemini 9 mission, scheduled for early June. Jim Lovell and Buzz Aldrin, who had formerly been the backup crew for Gemini 10, became the mission's backup crew and through the normal rotation were assigned as prime crew for Gemini 12. Without the Gemini experience, it is unlikely that Aldrin would have been assigned to the Apollo 11 mission, during which he became the second person to walk on the Moon.

The Meyer House in Florissant, Missouri is a historic house located at 915 Lafayette.Meyer House was built in 1922. It is described as "Bungalow with French Affinities". In 1978, its exterior was weatherboard and its roof was asphalt shingles.In the 1970s the area of St. Ferdinand was assessed for its historic resources, leading to the listing in 1979 of the Hubecky House and many other houses, buildings, and historic districts on the National Register of Historic Places.As was the adjacent Hubecky House, the Meyer House was deemed "Significant as an example of the continuity of the Missouri French style of architecture, which helps make this Multiple Resource Area a cohesive entity."Also the MRA document describes the Meyer House: "This frame Missouri French example illustrates the temporal continuity of this style and helps define its Florissant manifestations. It represents the renaissance of this style here in the 1920's and 1930's."The Missouri French style was "a trademark of Florissant's residential architecture since 1790", and 16 examples including the Meyer House were assessed to be "of considerable local architectural importance in spite of their simple designs."
