Champfèr

The Restaurant Talvo is a traditional gourmet restaurant in a historic building at the Via Gunels in the village of Champfèr in the Engadin in Switzerland. For a certain time the restaurant was once managed by the Badrutt's Palace Hotel. The Talvo became famous in the 1960s and 1970s when the international Jet set discovered St. Moritz and its surroundings as their favourite winter destination. People like Gunther Sachs, Brigitte Bardot, Gianni Agnelli and the Shah of Iran, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, were regular visitors of the Talvo. The Shah of Iran used to own a mansion in St. Moritz in an area known as Suvretta, near the hotel Suvretta House. When going to the Talvo, the Shah was always escorted by his bodyguards and police officers of the Swiss Federal Police.

Lej Nair (literally "Black Lake") is a lake above Silvaplana in the Engadin valley, Grisons, Switzerland. A hiking trail leads from Lej Marsch to Lej Nair. Hahnensee (Lej dals Chöds) and Lej Zuppo are located close by.

Suvretta House is a five-star hotel in St. Moritz, Switzerland. Built in 1912, it is part of The Leading Hotels of the World. It features 181 rooms and several restaurants. It is St Moritz's only ‘ski-in’ and ‘ski-out’ hotel.

Olympiaschanze was a ski jumping venue in St. Moritz, Switzerland, it was built in 1926 and closed in 2006. The ski jumping and the ski jumping part of the Nordic combined event for the 1928 Winter Olympics. Its K-point was 66 m.

Silvaplana (Romansh: ) is a municipality in the Maloja Region in the Swiss canton of Graubünden and the name of a lake in the municipality.

Hahnensee (Romansh: Lej dals Chöds) is a lake above St. Moritz in the Grisons, Switzerland at 2153 m above sealevel. Next to the lake there is a restaurant of the same name. In the summer time, the area can be reached by several hiking trails. In the Winter skiers coming from the Piz Corvatsch can take the Giand'Alva skilift and ski down the almost 9 km long ski run, also called Hahnensee, into St. Mortitz-Bad. Though the run can only be opened after significant snowfall has accumulated.

Engiadiana is a World Cup ski course in Switzerland at St. Moritz, Grisons, located in the Engadin valley on Piz Nair mountain in the Albula Alps.It is adjacent to the older and more famous men's "Corviglia" speed events course, which hosted the Winter Olympics in 1948 and several World Championships.

Opened 89 years ago in 1934, it is located in the Engadin valley on Piz Nair mountain in the Albula Alps.Corviglia has hosted a record five World Championships (1934, 1948, 1974, 2003, 2017) and the Winter Olympics in 1948 (concurrent World Championships).It is adjacent to the newer "Engiadina", a course used for women's speed events, which hosted those events during the two most recent World Championships (2003, 2017). "Free Fall", a new downhill start constructed in 2003 by Bernhard Russi, has the steepest incline in circuit at 45 degrees (100% gradient).

Surlej is a village in Graubünden, Switzerland. It is located close to Sankt Moritz and Silvaplana. The town is known for having had Friedrich Nietzsche among its visitors; the philosopher spent every summer from 1883 to 1888 there. He often sat on a stone on the shore of Lake Silvaplana, where he came up with the idea of eternal recurrence, one of the key concepts of his major poetic work "Thus Spoke Zarathustra".

Corviglia is a location on the eastern slopes of Piz Nair, overlooking St. Moritz in the canton of Graubünden. It lies on the watershed between the rivers Schlattain (Val Saluver) and the Ovel da la Resgia (ending in Lake St. Moritz), at an elevation of 2,486 m (8,156 ft). Corviglia is mainly accessible from the town by the St. Moritz–Corviglia funicular, via Chantarella. At Corviglia, an aerial tramway climbs west to Piz Nair (3,057 m (10,030 ft)), unloading slightly below its summit. Corviglia is also the name of the ski area directly above St. Moritz. This area, together with the fully integrated Marguns area which is centered above the neighboring town of Celerina, is the largest skiing area in the Engadin. It hosted the alpine skiing events of the 1948 Winter Olympics and the World Championships in 1974 and 2003.

St. Moritz ( SAN mə-RITS, US also SAYNT -⁠, UK also sənt MORR-its; German, in full: Sankt Moritz [saŋkt ˈmoːrɪts, - moˈrɪts]; Romansh: San Murezzan [sam muˈʁetsən] ; Italian: San Maurizio; French: Saint-Moritz) is a high Alpine resort town in the Engadine in Switzerland, at an elevation of about 1,800 metres (5,910 ft) above sea level. It is Upper Engadine's major town and a municipality in the district of Maloja in the Swiss canton of Graubünden. St. Moritz lies on the southern slopes of the Albula Alps below the Piz Nair (3,056 m or 10,026 ft) overlooking the flat and wide glaciated valley of the Upper Engadine and eponymous lake: Lake St. Moritz. It hosted the Winter Olympics in 1928 and 1948.

Lake Silvaplana (German: Silvaplanersee; Romansh: Lej da Silvaplauna) is a lake in the Upper-Engadine valley of Grisons, Switzerland. It takes its name from the village of Silvaplana. The lake is also connected to the nearby Lej da Champfèr. Together with its larger neighbour, Lake Sils, it is among the largest lakes of the Grisons. Lake Silvaplana is overlooked by several mountains over 3,000 metres, notably Piz Corvatsch, Piz Julier and Piz Surlej. The lake's drainage basin culminates at Piz Corvatsch (3,451 m) and comprises several glaciers, the largest being the Vadret dal Tremoggia. A campsite is located on the Northern end of the lake. The lake is also used heavily for sports, such as kitesurfing and windsurfing in the summertime. In the winter, once the lake freezes, it is used for cross country skiing, walking trails, and kitesurfing on snow, with the famous Engadin Skimarathon crossing the lake annually. The rare occasion of black ice also brings ice skaters to the lake. In Ecce Homo, Friedrich Nietzsche recounts the moment he first conceived his idea of the Eternal Recurrence while walking through the woods beside Lake Silvaplana in August 1881.
