Lago di Vagli

Fabbriche di Careggine was a village in Tuscany, Italy that was destroyed by construction of the Lago di Vagli reservoir in 1946. The village had been established in 1270. The village is submerged under 34 million cubic meters (1.2 billion cubic feet) of water and its structures — homes, churches and cemeteries — are still preserved. The village is occasionally seen when the lake is drained to conduct maintenance work. The village was seen above water in 1994 and in 2020 it was reported that the village would be uncovered again in 2021, after 27 years underwater.Due to water shortages in the area draining has been postponed several times and is now stated to be spring 2024 (Gazzette 7 June 2023)

Careggine is a town and comune in the province of Lucca, in northern Tuscany (Italy). It is the birthplace of Italian football player Marco Tardelli and of Adriano Tardelli, one of the heroes of the Italian resistance movement.

Piazza al Serchio railway station (Italian: Stazione di Piazza al Serchio) is a railway station located in the Tuscany region of central Italy serving the comune of Piazza al Serchio. The station is located in the lower part of the village at an altitude of just under 500 m. It was opened on 21 April 1940.The station forms part of the Lucca–Aulla railway and is served exclusively by regional trains operated by Trenitalia, whilst the station itself is managed by Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (RFI), both of which are subsidiaries of Italy's state-owned rail company Ferrovie dello Stato (FS). In memory of the steam locomotives that formerly operated on the Lucca–Aulla railway, an FS Class 940 locomotive is preserved at the station as a monument. A 15 m turntable that was used to rotate the steam locomotives is also still visible at the site.

Scaffaiolo Lake is a lake in the provinces of Pistoia (Tuscany) and Modena (Emilia-Romagna), Italy. At an elevation of 1775 m, its surface area is 0.05 km2.

The 1920 Garfagnana earthquake (also known as the Lunigiana earthquake) occurred on 7 September in Garfagnana and Lunigiana, both agricultural areas in the Italian Tuscany region. The quake hypocenter was located 14 kilometres (8.7 mi) beneath Villa Collemandina. The maximum felt intensity was rated as X (Extreme) on the Mercalli intensity scale, and 6.6 on the Richter magnitude scale. It was one of the most destructive seismic events recorded in the Apenninic region in the twentieth century. Due to good news coverage, availability of official documents on the damage and abundance of recordings from surveillance stations throughout Europe, it was regarded as a first-rate case study to improve knowledge of tectonics and macroseismic analysis.

Lago di Gramolazzo is a lake in the Province of Lucca, Tuscany, Italy. At an elevation of 604 m, its surface area is 1 km².

Santa Maria Assunta is a 12th-century Roman Catholic church building in the frazione of Borsigliana in the town limits of Piazza al Serchio, province of Lucca, region of Tuscany, Italy.

The Giardino Montano dell' Orecchiella is a garden with many ornamental exotic and, to a much lesser extent, native flowers located just below the visitor centre of the Parco dell'Orecchiella. This little garden is not to be confused with the Botanical Garden "Maria Ansaldi" Pania di Corfino which is located close to the latter. Parco dell'Orecchiella il located at north of Castelnuovo di Garfagnana, Province of Lucca, Tuscany, Italy. It is open daily in the warmer months. The Parco dell'Orecchiella contains a number of karst caves located in the municipalities of Sillano and Collemandina Villa; a total of 31 caves have been located with lengths between 35 and 1120 m. The forest is mainly coniferous with beech groves, as well as Acer pseudoplatanus, Alnus incana, Crataegus monogyna, Fraxinus excelsior, Laburnum anagyroides, Prunus spinosa, Sorbus aria, and Sorbus aucuparia.

Sillano Giuncugnano is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Lucca in the Italian region of Tuscany. It was created on 1 January 2015 from the merger of Sillano and Giuncugnano.

The Giardino Botanico "Maria Ansaldi" Pania di Corfino (about 7500m2) is a botanical garden located an altitude of 1370 m in the Appennino Tosco-Emiliano National Park, near the visitor center of Orecchiella Natural Park in Isera, Corfino, Villa Collemandina, Province of Lucca, Tuscany, Italy. It is open daily in the warmer months; an admission fee is charged. The garden was established in 1984 to collect and preserve indigenous flora of the Apennine Mountains, Garfagnana valley and Apuan Alps . As such it reproduces environments typical of the region, including heath, hills, moor, pasture, and scree; it also contains an arboretum.

The Teatro Alfieri is a 19th-century theatre and opera house in the town of Castelnuovo di Garfagnana, region of Tuscany, Italy. The theater was erected in 1860, commissioned by the local Counts Luigi and Giovanni Carli. The latter also aided in the design along with Antonio Vittoni. It was originally dedicated to Vittorio Emanuele II, and it acquired its present name, in honor of the playwright Vittorio Alfieri, following the establishment of the republic after the war. Another Alfieri theater was once found in Florence, and another in Asti. At one time, the theater sponsored regular opera seasons, but then changed to film performances after the War, and finally closed. It was purchased by the Town Council of Castelnuovo, and reopened in 2006.

Giuncugnano is a frazione of the comune (municipality) of Sillano Giuncugnano in the Province of Lucca in the Italian region Tuscany, located about 90 kilometres (56 mi) northwest of Florence and about 45 kilometres (28 mi) northwest of Lucca. It was a separate comune until 1 January 2015.
