Norcross Brothers Houses

The Franklin Wesson House is an historic house at 8 Claremont Street in the Main South neighborhood of Worcester, Massachusetts. It is one of the finest High Gothic Victorian houses in the city. It was designed by architect Amos Porter Cutting. The 2+1⁄2-story brick structure was built in 1874 for Franklin Wesson, one of the founders of Harrington & Richardson, a major Worcester arms manufacturer. It is roughly rectangular in form, but has a number of protrusions, most notably a three-story tower over its entrance that is capped by a steeply pitched slate hip roof. The body of the house is also topped by a hip roof with a major bay on the right side whose steeply pitched roof rises to its own peak. The windows of the house are predominantly narrower with rounded tops, and there are horizontal bands of decorative brickwork at several levels.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.

The John Legg House is a historic house at 5 Claremont Street in Worcester, Massachusetts. The Queen Anne style house was built in 1892 to a design by noted local architect Stephen Earle for John Legg, owner of the Worcester Woolens Company, one of the city's largest textile businesses. It is a 2+1⁄2-story wood-frame with an asymmetrical plan. One unusual feature is a first floor bay on the right side which is topped by a parapet. The center and left side of the house are sheltered by a porch, with a decorated gable end over the stairs.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. Since the listing, some of the exterior features have been lost due to a later residing of the house.

The South Unitarian Church is an historic church building at 888 Main Street in the Main South neighborhood of Worcester, Massachusetts. The Romanesque Revival building was designed by Earle & Fisher and was built by the Norcross Brothers in 1894 for the South Unitarian Society, established in 1890. The building is made of sandstone blocks, laid in courses alternating in width. The front (eastern) facade features a high pitched gable, with two rows of three windows, then a pair of windows topped by a large half-round window To the right is the church entrance, a smaller projecting gable section with a doorway recessed in a round archway, topped by three smaller windows. To the rear behind the entrance is a square tower with a partial half-round side tower.On March 5, 1980, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places as South Unitarian. At the time of its listing it housed an Armenian Apostolic congregation; it presently houses a Spanish Seventh Day Adventist Congregation.

The Woodland Street Firehouse is an historic fire station at 36 Woodland Street in Worcester, Massachusetts. It is one of the finest of Worcester Victorian-era firehouses. The two story brick building was built in 1886 in a Queen Anne style, with some Romanesque details. It is nearly identical to Worcester's Cambridge Street Firehouse; both were designed by Fuller & Delano and built the same year.The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. It is no longer used as a firehouse. Engine 10 ran out of this station until 1979 when it moved to Park Ave until the company was eliminated in 2009.

The Elias Crawford House is an historic octagon house located in Worcester, Massachusetts. It is one of two such houses in the city. The house was built sometime in the 1850s for an unknown owner; its first owner of record was Elias Crawford, a textile manufacturer, in 1870. It is a two-story frame house, with a wraparound porch, supported by chamfered posts, covering a portion of the first floor. A service wing was added to its rear (south and west sides) in the 19th century, and there is a stable on the property that appears to date to the time of the house.The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.

The Hammond Organ Reed Factory is a historic former factory building at 9 May Street in Worcester, Massachusetts. Built in 1868 and enlarged in 1886, it is one of the city's few surviving Second Empire factory buildings. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. In 2007–2009, the building was restored and converted for use as affordable housing.

The Woodland Street Historic District is a historic housing district in the Main South area of Worcester, Massachusetts. It consists of 19 Victorian houses that either face or abut on Woodland Street, between Charlotte and Oberlin Streets. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. Located directly adjacent to the campus of Clark University, some of the buildings are used by Clark for housing and administration. When Woodland Street was first developed beginning in the late 1860s, it was on the fringes of development in the city. Seven houses were built on the west side of the street, on large lots, and only a few were built on the east side. In the 1890s development accelerated as growing demand for housing pushed the urbanized parts of the city closer to the area. By 1904, the large lots on the west side were subdivided and filled in with additional houses, and the east side was fully developed.The houses built in the second phase are either Queen Anne (those built early in the 1890s) or Colonial Revival (those built later). The Frank Heath House at 11 Loudon Street is a particularly notable Colonial Revival house, with a high hip roof, a full front porch, and Palladian windows.

Pilgrim Congregational Church is a historic Congregational church building at 909 Main Street in Worcester, Massachusetts. The brick Romanesque Revival building was constructed in 1887 to a design by local architect Stephen Earle. The buildings windows and other details are trimmed in sandstone, and a tower with projecting rounded corners rises from one corner. It features an open belfry with round-arch openings and is capped by a steeply pitched roof, with decorative finials at the corners.The church was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.

The Charles A. Hall Three-Decker is a historic triple-decker house in Worcester, Massachusetts. Built c. 1896, it is a well-preserved example of a triple-decker with Queen Anne styling. It follows a typical side hall plan, but has a squared front bay that is unusual for that part of the city. The bay is decorated with bands of cut shingles, and has window overhangs between floors. The bay is topped by a decorated projecting gable.The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.

The Frank Reed Three-Decker is a historic triple decker house in Worcester, Massachusetts. It was built c. 1888 for Frank Reed, an electrician and machinist who eventually opened his own business. The house is a particularly elegant example of a Queen Anne triple decker. Its porch has square cut chamfered posts, is decorated with lattice work, and has a projecting gabled top. The right side bay is round with a conical roof section, and is clad in shingles cut in a wavy pattern. The deep cornice is decorated with brackets near the corners.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.

St. Peter's Catholic Church is a historic church building at 935 Main Street in Worcester, Massachusetts. Built-in 1884, the church is one of the city's finest and most ornate examples of Gothic Revival architecture. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. It is home to an active parish in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Worcester.

The Lucius Knowles House is a historic house located at 838 Main Street in Worcester, Massachusetts. It is locally significant as one of the city's best preserved Second Empire style buildings.
